Mary Ann Burden-Robert Horton Wed in Capilla Garden Chapel Gowned in white satin, Miss Mary Ann Burden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Burden, 9591 Valdina street, Freeway Park, Anaheim, became the bride of Robert Edward Horton, son of Mrs. Charles Horton, 1555 West Commonwealth avenue, Fullerton, Sunday night at 7 o'clock in semi-formal rites in the sanctuary of the garden chapel of Capilla de San Antonio with Rev. Rollo Dunham, pastor of the White Temple Methodist church, Anaheim, reading the double-ring ceremony. The young couple repeated their marriage vows before an alter arranged with white dahlias and gladioli and lighted cathedral candelabra. Enhancing the bride's loveliness was her gown fashioned with a fitted bodice, deep shoulder yoke, long sleeves and full skirt over hoops accented with lace insets and ending in a train. Her fingertip length veil cascaded from a crown of seed pearls. Given in marriage by her father, the bride carried a bouquet of pink roses. Miss Nancy Belden of Fresno, a Pomona college roommate of the bride's, was the maid of honor and an orchid corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore powder blue crepe with an orchid corsage. The new Mrs. Horton is a native of Anaheim. She graduated from Anaheim Union high school, class of 1944, attended Fullerton Junior college for one year then transferred to Pomona college where she graduated, class of 1948. Her bridegroom, a graduate of Fullerton Union high school and junior college, will begin his senior year at the University of California at Berkeley this fall. The couple will live in Berkeley. During the war he served one year in the Navy. Flower Mission To Give Drama, Music-Program A combined program featuring Miss Ruth Phelps, dramatist, and Miss Marian Pickel, pianist, will be presented Friday, August 20, at 8 o'clock at the Anaheim Ebell club house under the sponsorship of the Flower Mission of the First Presbyterian church as a benefit to swell the church's building. Miss Nancy Belden of Fresno, a Pomona college roommate of the bride's, was the maid of honor. She wore a gown of pink morie faille designed with cap sleeves, scalloped neckline and pencil line skirt accented with a draped peplum. Pink carnations and aqua streamers were combined in her colonial bouquet and she wore a coronet of matching carnations in her hair. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Roland Miles of Los Angeles; Mrs. James Burden of Los Angeles, the bride's sister-in-law, and Miss Eleanor Clapp, a Pomona college friend of the bride's. All wore aqua gowns of identical design to that of the maid of honor. Each carried a bouquet of pink carnations and pink streamers, and wore a coronet of pink carnations. The bride's niece, Patricia Ann Lewis, was the flower girl attired in a pink frock, a miniature of the maid of honor's gown. She carried a basket of pink rose petals and had pink flowers in her hair. Serving as best man was Jack Horton of Fullerton, the bridegroom's brother. Ushers included another brother of the bridegroom, Charles F. Horton of Costa Mesa; James Burden, the bride's brother, and Robert Falconer. Miss Lorraine Tripp of San Jacinto, a college friend of the bride's, was pre-nuptial soloist. Accompanied by Mrs. A. F. Faust of this city she sang "Through the Years" and Thine Alone." Immediately following the ceremony, the reception was held in the Capilla garden with more than 150 relatives and friends attending. Serving were Mrs. C. A. Lewis, the bride's sister, and two of the bride's college friends, Mrs. Robert Newton and Mrs. Eustace French. The bride's sister-in-law, Mrs. William Burden of Los Angeles, was in charge of the guest book. After cutting and sharing the first piece of their three tiered wedding cake topped with a wedding bell, the newlyweds left for the Mission Inn, Riverside, and Flower Mission To Give Drama, Music-Program A combined program featuring Miss Ruth Phelps, dramatist, and Miss Marian Pickel, pianist, will be presented Friday, August 20, at 8 o'clock at the Anaheim Ebell club house under the sponsorship of the Flower Mission of the First Presbyterian church as a benefit to swell the church's building fund. Miss Phelps currently is playing in the Pilgrimage play which closes next Sunday in Pilgrimage bowl, Los Angeles. She has instructed drama and organ in Anaheim Union high school and will teach drama at Tustin high school this fall. The director of two teenage one-act plays given here recently, she was with Holiday Stage, professional stock company, last season, at Tustin. A graduate of Anaheim schools, Miss Pickel completed Anaheim Union high school in 1943 after being active in drama and music circles here. At Redlands University she studied piano under Dr. Pisk and organ with Dr. Spellman and Miss Dow. She has completed five years at the university, having received her bachelor of music degree in 1947 and her master of music degree this year. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, national music fraternity. The talented young pianist was formerly a student of Mrs. Margaret Buttree of Anaheim. Further information concerning the program may be obtained by calling Mrs. Marion Pickel, president of Flower Mission.
