Public Urged to Attend Chest Meeting Friday A meeting of the Anaheim Community Chest has been called for tomorrow (Friday) night by Chairman Charles Pearson, which all contributors are urged to attend. It will open at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers, City Hall. Officers and representatives of the community at large will be elected for the coming year. Agencies supported by the Anaheim Community Chest are Young Men's Christian Association, Young Women's Christian Association, Catholic Welfare League, Salvation Army, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Teen Age Canteen, each of which is urged to have at least one representative present. NEW HIWAY PATROLMEN FOR ORANGE COUNTY DUTY Clifford E. Peterson, State Highway Patrol Commissioner, announced the assignment of H. E. Bird, from the Los Angeles Highway Patrol office, to Orange county, effective August 16. W. Joseph Soto Burial Next Monday Private Joseph Soto who lost his life while serving in the South Pacific with the Army, will be buried on home soil next Monday with Mass at St. Boniface Catholic church, at 9 a.m. Recitation of Holy Rosary will be held at 7:30 Sunday evening from the cathel of Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars mortuary. Pvt. Soto was the first man from Anaheim to lose his life in active service during the late war, being killed in action on August 20, 1943. Born May 20, 1909 in the city of Santa Barbara in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, he had resided in California for a number of years. The family home was at 320 South Palm street, Anaheim, where his mother resides. Surviving is his mother, Mrs. Porfiria Rios of the home. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside rites in Holy Sepulchre cemetery under the direction of Veterans of Foreign Wars post of this city. Pfc. John W. Reyes, who lost his life on April 24, 1944, while on active duty in New Guinea during the late war, will be buried in Holy Sepulchre cemetery next Saturday at 9 a.m. with Mass from St. Joseph Catholic church in Placentia. Music and dancing were featured. Tillie Elias, Spanish dancer, was applauded and dance music was provided by Tilly Lopez and his orchestra. Several Mexican songs were sung by Tony Guerrero and his trio of Placentia. The fiesta was sponsored by "Accion," weekly Mexican newspaper of Fullerton, edited by Frank Moreno. In charge of arrangements were Tex Collins superintendent of the Mexican National camps, and Jesse Perez, assistant superintendent. National camps represented at the event included Anaheim, Atwood, Garden Grove, Tustin Hills, Fullerton and Delhi. Personal and family security can be improved by investing in U. S. Savings Bonds. FORMER RESIDENT HERE FROM LOS ANGELES Frank Ey of Los Angeles, former resident of this city who is well known among the early day residents, was an Anaheim visitor on Tuesday visiting with friends and renewing acquaintances. Mr. Ey was born in Anaheim and on July 29 he will celebrate 70 golden years of a happy life. Congratulations Mr. Ey.
