Shirley Osborn-Richard Harris
Wed Sunday at Capilla Chapel
Radiant in a gown of heavy brocaded satin, Miss Shirley Ann Osborn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Osborn, 306 East South street, Anaheim, became the bride of Richard Rowland Harris, son of Mrs. Marguerite Harris, 814½ South Philadelphia street, Anaheim, Sunday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock, at Capilla de San Antonio, with Dr. Robert Young of the Spurgeon Memorial Methodist church in Santa Ana, reading the double-ring ceremony.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride carried a dainty handkerchief which her grandmother had carried at her wedding. The bride's gown was fashioned with a lace yoke and off-the-shoulder satin neckline, fitted bodice and skirt ending in a short train. Her veil was borrowed from her aunt. Traditional sentiment was found in a beautiful double strand of pearls, a gift from the groom.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Robert Siewert (nee Virginia Osborn) wearing a sleeveless gown of aqua taffeta similar to that of the bride.
Attired in gowns of identical design to that of the matron of honor, the bride's maids were Elizabeth Osborn wearing pink taffeta, Gwen Ahlstrom clad in pale green taffeta, Greta Kung wearing yellow taffeta, and Virginia Casey, orchid taffeta.
Serving as best man was Lawrence Rains. Ushers included Bob Drowns, Charles Clark, Irwin North, Jr., and Robert Siewert.
Jean Cutshall, pre-nuptial the bride's family, presided at the punch bowl.
For the occasion, Mrs. Osborn, mother of the bride, chose a white silk floor-length gown fashioned with a back drape. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Harris, was attired in a floor-length gown of aqua net designed with long sleeves and full skirt.
The young couple left on a five-day honeymoon trip to Laguna Beach. Upon their return, they will reside at 306 East South street, this city.
For travelling, the new Mrs. Harris wore a grey gabardine suit contrasting with black and white accessories.
The bride is a graduate of Anaheim Union high school, class of 1947. She attended the University of California at Santa Barbara for one semester.
Her bridegroom, who is associated with McMahans Furniture Store of this city, is a graduate of AUHS, class of 1946, and of Fullerton Junior college, class of 1948.
Lovely Beverly Campbell, who pleased audiences with her personality and skill in the first two Holiday Stage productions, will be featured with screen star Donna Curtis in the strawhatter's new production, "The Spider," slated to follow the current offering "Merton of the Movies." Mrs. Campbell scored as the Dear daughter in "She Loves Me No and as the prissy sister in "Goodbye Again."
"The Spider" will incorporate several vaudeville acts in its usual thrill-packed action, following the precedent set in this week's play, starring Sterling Holloway which has as its prologue an otime silent movie, "The Iron Nap."
"Merton of the Movies" closes Saturday, July 17, with "The Spider" raising its curtain on Monday, July 19.

Wed Saturday in Chapel Rites
In an impressive ceremony,
Miss Marion Lucille Daniels,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Daniels of 10702 South Harbor boulevard, became the bride of Alfred Edwin Mason, Jr., of San Francisco, 8 o'clock Saturday evening, at Capilla de San Antonio with Rev. Robert Burns McAulay, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, Orange, officiating for the double-ring rites. More than 300 friends and relatives were present.
The young couple plighted their troth before an all-white altar arranged with lighted cathedral candelbra and summer blossoms. Tall standing baskets were also used in the inner chapel where the ceremony was read.
Enhancing the bride's loveliness was her gown of ivory satin designed with a net yoke, heart-shaped neckline, pearl beaded bodice, long sleeves pointed at the wristline and very full skirt which ended in a full length train. Her finger-tip length veil cascaded from a pearl-beaded crown.
Traditional sentiment was found in the strand of matched pearls, a gift from her bridegroom. Given in marriage by her father, the bride carried a shower bouquet of ivory gladioli surrounding a large orchid.
Miss Vera Jean Hilbers, nuptial soloist, sang "Because," "O Promise Me" and "The Lord's Prayer." A school friend of the bride, Miss Carol Bostick, was organist playing traditional wedding marches and accompanying the soloist.
Pre-nuptial courtsies given in honor of the bride, included miscellaneous showers. Gwen Ahlstrom and her mother, Mrs. Ahlstrom were hostesses for a May affair. Late in June, Elva Clasen and her mother, Mrs. Clasen, were hostesses for another shower. This month, Mrs. Bob Drowns and Mrs. Harry Drowns gave a similar shower.
Ensembles and white accessories. Each wore a corsage of white carnations.
Close family friends assisted with reception duties. Mrs. Marjorie Faulkner was in charge of the guest book.
After cutting and sharing the first piece of their wedding cake, the young couple left for a short honeymoon trip. They stayed at the Santa Barbara Hotel then went on to San Francisco. There the new Mrs. Mason was surprised with their wedding present from the groom's mother, Mrs. Cuneo, and father — a beautiful new home, completely furnished, at 626 Rockdale Drive. A wedding trip will be enjoyed by the couple in February.
For traveling the bride wore a biege charmaine gabardine suit. She chose a brown top coat and white accessories and wore the orchid corsage from her wedding bouquet.
Many lovely pre-nuptial showers were given here and in Long Beach for the bride. She is a graduate of Katella elementary school and Anaheim Union high school class of 1948. During her four years in high school, she was active in the music department.
Her bridegroom is a graduate of San Francisco schools. He served six years in the U.S. Navy and is head of the mechanical division of the United Air Lines, San Francisco headquarters.
