SOCIETY and CLUB ACTIVITIES (Continued from Page 3) this city, will celebrate 57 years of happy married life, traveling the road of life together through happiness and sadness, through tears and laughter, living life to its fullest. On June 28, Mr. Koser will celebrate his 86th birthday anniversary. Another event as cause for celebration is the approaching anniversary of the tenth anniversary of the marriage of their son, Elwood and Mrs. Ter Beest of Midway City. Numerous other events were noted by the gathered relatives. Decorating the long tables at the park, Mrs. Ter Beest used lovely arrangements of roses and mixed garden flowers from her garden. (Tablecloths were furnished through the courtesy of the Anaheim Gazette.) Those enjoying the beauty of the park and the bountiful spread of delectable food included: Mrs. Ethel White and family of Para-mount (formerly Hynes, Cal.), Mrs. Minnie Thompson of Compton, Mr. and Mrs. D. La Habra Group Plans Food Sale Plans for a pie sale to be held Saturday at the Safeway store in La Habra were discussed by members of the La Habra Veterans of SAWYER FOR CONGRESS 22nd DIST. Farmer and Businessman Elect Sawyer to Congress from the 22nd District. Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. during the regular business session Wednesday night of last at the Memorial hall with Turner, president, presiding. Mrs. Cousins, department bearer of California and president of the Fullerton VFW auxiliary was present and received honors. Also present was Mr. Eldridge of the Santa Ana arary. Arrangements were made the Memorial ceremony to be at Loma Vista cemetery next day. Mrs. Ada Frazier was appointed chairman of the sewing club is being organized to create ticles for various hospitals. Voted that the seamstresses meet the fourth Wednesday of each month in the home members. The first meeting be June 23, at 7:30 p.m., home of Mrs. Frazier, 207 Central, La Habra. Refreshments of chocolate jello topped with whipped cream and coffee were served by Turner and Mrs. Jack Rentz; regular meeting will be June 19. In the auxiliary's poppy held Friday and Saturday, poppies were sold. Generous contributions of La Habrans w for veteran and veteran dependents, members stated when singing city residents for their service in the drive. Veterans who are symbolic flowers receive one-half cents apiece for each contribution. 'H.M.S. Pinafore' To Be Staged At FUHS, Saturday "H.M.S. Pinafore," ever-present comic light opera by Gilber Sullivan will be staged by Pasadena Community Opera Society, Saturday night o'clock in the Fullerton school auditorium under the Foreign Wars Auxiliary No.'s supervision. Girl Scout News SKATING PARTY Girl Scout troop 42 from Katella school are planning a skating party at the Santa Ana Roller Skating rink. They have been making blue prints for Scout books. Maryann Hammatt won 1st prize on her cake entry at the Civic Progress Exposition. She made a duplicate cake for the Scout meeting and Mary Lois Haggar brought ice cream bars. LUTHERAN TROOP 31 Girl Scout Troop 31 of Zion Nucellar Trees To Be Shown At Riverside Orange county citrus growers will have an opportunity to see nucellar citrus now growing in experimental plots of the Citrus Experiment Station near Riverside next week, according to Dick Puffer, assistant Orange county farm advisor. Two tours have been arranged. On Thursday, June 3, northern Orange county growers will make the tour. The next day is for southern Orange county growers. Growers will meet at the station four miles east of Riverside on Highway 60, at 10 a.m. Growers are expected to bring their own lunch. Coffee and cream will be provided. The tour is expected to end at 2:45 p.m. During the morning the growers will visit the nucellar trees and Valencia orange rootstocks in the experimental plots. In the afternoon they will visit the insectary, entomological laboratories and the tank culture experiments. Talks will be made by members of the Experiment Station staff, including Dr. Batchelder, Dr. Bitters, Dr. Flanders, Dr. Chapman Lindgren. During the following week Orange county growers will go on a non-cultivation tour to Ventura county. Former Resident Killed Saturday Raymond W. PLAN SAN DIEGO TRIP Girl Scout Troop 9 of St. Boniface school are planning a trip to San Diego by streamliner to visit the zoo on June 11. The troop has earned enough money to pay its own expenses. A Mothers' tea is planned for June 5 at which time all work accomplished during the year will be on display. The girls had a hospital project and made tray favors all during the year. The girls have received their troop number emblem and Buttercup troop crest. Most of the girls plan to go to Camp Osceola. ST. BONIFACE SCOUTS Girl Scout Troop 8 of St. Boniface had an outing at the La Palma park. Camp folders were distributed and camping plans discussed. The remainder of the day was turned over to games and popping corn. A native of Oklahoma, Smith moved to Moorpark approximately a year ago after residing here for 10 years. He had lived in California for a total of 16 years. He is survived by his widow, Velva G. Smith, of Moorpark; his father, Darwin G. Smith of Oklahoma, and two sisters, Miss Maxine Smith of Iowa and Miss Hazel Smith of Oklahoma. Funeral services were conducted at the Hilgenfeld chapel yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was in Anaheim cemetery. He is a reptile enthusiast spending many of his hours capturing rattle snakes on the desert. Mr. Bachigalupi has played in many pictures, the latest being "Road House," with Ida Lupino. In one scene Miss Lupino slaps his face and beats up on him in general. This cause for great merriment among his friends and the people in the picture cast because he is six foot two in height and weighs two-hundred eighty-five pounds.
