Page 8 Anaheim Gazette, May 27, 1948 Social and Club Activities GRACE THOMPSON Phone 2206 Newkirk Pupils In Piano Recital Students of Mrs. Florence Newkirk appeared in recital at the Anaheim Ebell club Friday evening with the program featuring highly contrasted selections of famous composers, arranged as piano solos. Anaheim soloists included Mary Catherine Cain playing Gretchaninoff's "March of the Tin Soldiers"; Carolyn Poyet, "Slumber Song" by Schumann; Ann Allen, "Elves" by Block; Carol Truxaw, "Mazurka55" by Tschalkowsky; Sally Olding, "Waltz in A Minor" by Grieg; Rosemary Poyet, "Soliegetto" by P. E. Bach and Nancy Barthelmess, Bentley's "Dance in Ancient Style." Chopin's "Waltz in D-flat" was presented by Judy Mills; Schubert's "Scherzo in B-flat" by Colleen Baker and "Impromptu in A-flat" by Schubert, played by Peggy Kohlenberger. Other local talent included Johanna de Vries playing "Bourree" by Bach; Diane Cave, Chopin's Waltz in E Minor"; Joan Stehley, "Soaring" by Schumann; Lois Smith, "Impromptu in A-flat" by Chopin, and Mary Ann Chapman, Rachmaninoff's "Polichinelle." Northern Orange county students included Phyllis Rawlins, Heller's "Little Tarantelle"; Patsy Cortez, Grieg's "Grandmother's Minuet"; Joan Glines, "Butterfly" by Grieg; Nancy Cann, "Norwegian Melody" by Grieg; Carol Snyder, Paderewski's "Minuet"; Nancy Pratt, "Waltz in C-Sharp Minor," Chopin; Phyllis Chamberlin, "Minuetto" by Schubert; Sy Kroeger, Chopin's "Prelude G. Minor"; Martha Pitts, Deisy's "Reverie," and Rita F. playing "Woodland Echoes" Newton. Co-Ed Elected AUHS President Donna Jean Thomas, pop co-ed, was elected student president of Anaheim Union school last week. She is the feminine holder of that office date. Other officers named include Lloyd Trapp, vice president; Bloomfield, treasurer; Patty ans, safety secretary; Don B mett, secretary of student affairs; Marian Robertson, secretary girls' athletics, and Cornell C secretary of boys' athletic affair Kay Kroeger and Joanne C tied for the position of record secretary. O-Ed Elected UHS President Jennna Jean Thomas, popular was elected student body president of Anaheim Union high last week. Jim Ball will head next year's sophomore class with Ralph Schmitt acting as vice president: Mary Young, secretary and Barbara Trapp, treasurer. Senior class elections will be held in the near future, it was announced. Next fall, freshmen class members will chose their officers. Family Reunion Marks Sun. Event The Anaheim city park was the setting for a happy family reunion and celebration for various events in the family last Sunday when Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ter Beest and their daughter, Joanne, were hosts to 42 relatives. One event of celebration was 25 years of continuous residence at their home on South West street where Mr. and Mrs. Ter Beest have resided and reared their family. They have been residents of Anaheim for 33 years. On June 4, Mrs. Ter Beest's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. W.
