At State CHSC Marksman Meet
Captain Ralph Comstock, head of Anaheim Union high school’s unit of the California Cadet Corps and Charles (Bill) Watters, alternate marksman, attended the state rifle marksman contest in Sacramento last Friday.
Watters, the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Waters of North Olive street, both expert target shooters, placed high in the competition, Capt. Comstock stated.
Approximately 72 representatives from California Cadet Corps participated in the event. The top marksmen were chosen from among 5000 California boys in high school and junior college Cadet units.
Firing was on a 50-foot indoor range with .22 calibre rifles. The match began in the morning and closed that afternoon.
Later that day, Capt. Comstock and Cadet Watters enjoyed the hospitality of Lt. Colonel C. A. Royston, director of the Corps, office of the adjutant general, at his spacious Sacramento home.
Anaheim cadets participated in an area match three weeks ago in San Diego. Wind proved an unwelcome diversion, according to the local director.
Anaheim B. & L.' Associations Gain 19% in 1947

Assets of the Anaheim Building and Loan Association are $4,205,824, and those of the Savings, Loan and Building Association are $2,872,871. This is a combined gain of $1,133,690 for the two associations whose resources aggregate $7,078,695.
Total assets of California associations now stand at $925,269,130, a gain of almost 21 per cent since March 31, 1947.
