WEDDING RITES SUNDAY UNITE
VIRGINIA NAVARRO-ALFRED MORALES
Miss Virginia Navarro, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Navarro of 317 South Bush street, was united in marriage to Alfred Morales, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Morales of 415 South Olive street, last Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in beautiful rites at St. Boniface Catholic church, before more than two hundred guests and relatives.
An altar banked with baskets of white flowers interspersed with potted palms and lighted cathedral candelabra was the setting for the nuptial rites. At either side of the couple was placed very large baskets of white flowers.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in heavy white satin with fitted bodice and full skirt. The fingertip length veil was held in place by a beaded crown and she carried a white prayer book topped with an orchid. To speed her on her road of life, she wore, for the sentimental accents, the traditional blue gartier and carried an heirloom handkerchief, her wedding ensemble sufficing for the new item and for the borrowed sentiment she wore borrowed shoes in which she had hidden a penny for good luck.
Matron of honor was Mrs. R. Morales who wore a light blue-toned gown and carried a corsage of red roses. Bridesmaids were Elvera Navarro, sister of the bride, and Gloria Contreras, who were gowned in identical dresses, pink taffeta with the off-shoulder neckline which was finished with net trim, and fitted bodice with full skirt. Their corsages were orchid sweetpeas.
Little Miss Jeanette Lehr was flower girl and wore a light blue floor length formal similar to the gown worn by the matron of honor.
Serving the bridegroom as best man was Leonard Torres and Robert Morales and Richard Morales were ushers.
Mrs. A. F. Faust was at the console of the organ and played the processional and recessional.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception honoring the young couple was held in the parish hall which had a profusion of potted palms around the walls of the room forming a background for the beautifully appointed bride's table. A tiered cake was accented with tapers on a gleaming white decorated with dainty pink white satin ribbon bow streamers of flowers around the cake. The young cut and shared the first cake after which one of these served. Assisting with reception were Mrs. Evie Mrs. Contreres and Mr. Morales. Presiding over the book was Mrs. Jerry Punch was served with the mothers of the bridegroom wore suits trim pink for the occasion.
Later in the afternoon the couple left for a week's moon trip to Crestline after they will return to this make their home.

Remarkable achievement of the musical organization of the First Presbyterian church was demonstrated by the combined four choirs Sunday evening when they presented a special service in the church under the direction of Arnold O. Lewerenz, minister of music. The appealing story of the birth of Jesus according to the Book of St. Luke was told in song, and the program was divided into three distinct parts, the prophecy, the fulfillment, and the adoration. Highlights of the concert were excerpts from Handel's oratorio, "The Messiah," and soloists were Mrs. David Collins, soprano, Mrs. Arnold Lewerenz, contralto, Robert Larden, harpone, and Arnold Lewerenz tenor.
Other solos were presented by members of the Chancel choir, Loretta Franzen, Bernice Nelson, Betty Wilmer and Chad Hollek. Other choirs taking part were the Tuxis choir, the High School choral, and the Junior High choir.
Music Students Enjoy 28th Annual Christmas Party
The Christmas season theme being the most predominant part of the 28th annual Christmas party for members of the Anaheim Conservatory of Music, young guests were very pleasantly entertained last Saturday evening from 7:30 until 10 o'clock when Mr. and Mrs. F. Siegel entertained their students and parents. Red streamers across the ceiling with silver bells gave the thought of ringing chimes on the Christmas day. Poinsettias were used for additional color. In one of the other rooms, Mrs. Siegel had prepared a scene of the Nativity using a life size doll she had made several years ago, to mas carol was played by Mary Lewis.
Sally Tayler presented her part on the program by playing "The Altrane Hut" followed by "Indian Dance by the Firelight" as played by Dolores Pool. The ever beautiful "O Little Town of Bethlehem" was interpreted by Betty Dienerger and as a treat to the guests, Phillip Taylor, a violin pupil of Mr. Lenski, played "Humoreske," accompanied on the piano by his mother, Mrs. Clarence Taylor. The concluding part of the program was another piano solo by Arch Stoddart playing "We Three Kings of Orient."
Each young artist displayed much hard work and fine technique and their teacher and parents were very proud of their presentations. The balance of the evening was given to hilarity. Later as "Jingle Bells" was being played there came a knock at the door. When Mrs. Siegel answered, the grand old man of the season, Santa Claus, entered and spent sometime greeting each child talking with them. Later gifts were presented and each child was given a bag of candy.
Assisting Mrs. Siegel were her two granddaughters, Rutheller and Edith Taylor of Westwood, who stayed over until Sunday.
Refreshments of ice concord punch and cookies were served before another enjoyable gathering bid each other goodbye until another Christmas season rolls around.

Conquest Class
Enjoy Gift
Exchange, Party
A beautiful Christmas tree with the decorations in the Christmas motif used throughout the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Siems on Danson Road, added a touch of the holiday merriment recently when they were hosts to about twenty-two members of the Conquest class of the Calvary Baptist church. Co-hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Burns and their son, Harold Jr.
Piled high around the Christmas tree were gifts brought by members and which were later exchanged. A very attractive arrangement was the mantle decoration using as the theme the Yule log with lighted red tapers and holiday greenery.
The evening was spent singing Christmas carols, quizz games in sleeping with the season and the highlight as enjoyed by youngsters and oldsters alike, the gift exchange.
During a short business session of the class, election of officers for 1948 were named with Earl Arnshosen as president; Claud Roddam, the vice president; Elsaor Willis, secretary; E.R. Morford, treasurer; Signa Hatfield, social chairman; Rev. and Mrs. Torrester, spiritual advisors, and Willis C. Jolly was named as the teacher for the class.
Delightful refreshments were served at the close of the enjoyable evening.
