Beta Sigma Phi Members Have Holiday Party
Tau chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Dora Pearson at 630 North Clementine street with Dorothy Gerlech the hostess assisted by Irene Holland and Alice Myers.
When the guests had assembled, a delectable dessert course of Christmas sandwiches, olives and hot spiced cider was served. Decorations in the Christmas motif were used in the nut cups filled with candy and nuts and in the other appointments used.
The president, Helen Sharp, presided during a short business session. The balance of the evening was spent enjoying a holiday party. The center of attraction was a very large Christmas tree decorated with lights and many tree baubles. At the base a beautiful effect was obtained by using pine cones on a bed of snow.
The centerpiece on the dessert table was a silver platter centered with double poinsettias and round silver and red ornaments arranged around the edge of the platter. A large white candle tied with red satin ribbon bows and red and silver ornaments with holly formed the mantle decoration.

Fullerton O.E.S. Seats Officers At Installation
Marking the beginning of a new year of work, members of Fullerton Order of Eastern Star, Ami Tai Chapter No. 405, held public installation at the Masonic Temple on a recent Wednesday evening. Included in the officers installed were a number of Anaheim ladies who are members of Ami Tai chapter.
Members of the installing staff were Mistress of Ceremonies, Rosella Rudd; Worthy Matron; Marlan Birnie; Worthy Patron, John R. Collins; Installing Marshals, Rosalle Williams and Esther Parker; Installing Chaplain, Jeanette Blattner; Installing Organist, Josephine Alexander; Installing Officers, Ina Liles, D.G.M., and Henry Rudd; presentation of the Holy Bible by Johnny Mayfield. The flag was presented by Malcolm Parker followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of "God Bless America."
The entrance of the officers-elect was led by the Past Grand Matrons and Patrons followed by the present Grand Matrons. Next came the Past Grand elective officers, the Worthy Matrons and Worthy Patrons of 1947 and last but not least the Past Matrons and Past Patrons of Ami Tai Chapter.
The ceremony of installation was opened with a prayer and the obligation of the order. In impressive rites the officers were installed in the order of their offices,
these being; Worthy Matron, Eberle; Worthy Patron, Schafer; Associate Matron, Marley; Associate Patron, John Marley; Secretary, Stella Schreiber; Treasurer, Clara Belle Roussel Conductress, Mildred Read; Associate Conductress, Schafer.
"Bless This House" was read by Gordon Drew and accompanied by Marian Hill.
The Chaplain installed Leah Stoneburner; Marshal, Lion Birnie; Warden, Polly Curry and Sentinel, Edward Double.
The appointive officers Adah, Shirley Kohlenberger; Blanche Green; Esther, Jeanne McConnell; Martha, Velma Nielsen and Electa, Lura Scovil.
Gordon Drew next sang "of Love" and was again accompanied by Marian Hill. The clamation was read and was allowed by the closing of the house as conducted by Ferne Marlin.
Worthy Matrons and Patrons of 1948 were present at the assemblage.
Old fashioned bouquets of sweet peas, pink carnations, daisies, tied with pink blue ribbon in streamer were carried by the new office and further carried out the tide of the colors for the new each officer was gowned in shades.

A discussion of the Southern California Council breakfast to be held at Fullerton City hall on January 18 was one point of business. Hostesses for this meeting will be members of the tri-city council of Orange county.

For the refreshment course, coffee and cookies were served in the banquet room at the reception for new officers at the conclusion of the installation ceremonies. Decoration for the Christmas season appointed the refreshment tables.
United Brethren Church to Present Christmas Cantata
Members of Evangelical United Brethren church will observe the coming Christmas holiday season next Sunday with appropriate programs for both the morning and evening service hours.
At 10:45 Sunday morning the choir will sing "In Old Judea" by Geibel. An incidental soprano solo part will be sung by Mrs. Clarence Mauerhan with violin obligatto by Carol Hochull. For the offertory, the women's trio, composed of Betty and Philura Stockwell and Margaret Peter, will sing a very beautiful number, "Christmas Snows in Sweden" by Kieff. Miss Hochull will again play the vjolin obligatto.
Mrs. Darwin Stockwell is organist at the church and assisting her will be Darlene Hochull at the piano.
"The Christ Child," a lovely cantata by C. B. Hawley will be presented Sunday evening. Solo parts will be sung by Betty Mauerhan, soprano; Margaret Peter, contralto; Raymond Holt, guest tenor; Dr. C. O. Patterson, guest baritone, and Darwin Stockwell, bass.
The cantata is the story of the Nativity in its entirety, coming to a dramatic close as the scenes bring the story of the birth of our Savior.
Rev. Selfridge will bring a short message during the evening service.
A cordial invitation is extended to the public to attend all services at the church.
Zion Lutheran
P.-T.A. Enjoys Xmas School Program
"Christmas Blessings," a program of colored slides, recitations and carols telling the story of the Nativity was presented to members of Zion Lutheran P.-T.A. Thursday evening following a pot luck supper and business meeting in the parish hall of the parent church. Children of all eight grades took part in the program, directed by Principal Walter Knigge, with Paul Lohr, teacher, at the piano.
A business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Q. C. Ulrich, president, and it was announced that children of the school will be given a Christmas party Dec. 19 in the parish hall, with the hostess committee made up of room mothers.
Principal Knigge told of the congregations' plans for a new $50,000 school building and urged support of the fund raising campaign to begin after Jan. 1. This was the third meeting of the new association, and 125 attended.
P.E.O. Christmas Supper and Party
B.P. and L.T. chapter of P.E.O. recently held their Christmas party and potluck supper at the home of Mrs. Earle Woodward South Ohio street. Christenations were used through home with the holiday mopping the arrangement supper table.
An enjoyable program was sent by Mrs. Gerald B. Mrs. Robert Bowman, cox with the group singing Carols.
Announcement was made Orange county reciprocating of P.E.O. at the Women's Club.

An enjoyable program depicting the Christmas season was presented by Mrs. Gerald Boege and Mrs. Robert Bowman, concluding with the group singing Christmas carols.
Announcement was made of the Orange county reciprocity meeting of P.E.O. at the Woman's club-house in Orange on January 16, the meeting scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Reservations must be made with the corresponding secretary by January 9, it was stated.
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Howell of 14411 Struck street, Anaheim, are the parents of a daughter born Dec. 9 at St. Joseph hospital tipping the scales at 7 lbs., 10½ ounces.
