Mrs. Hatfield Wins Range At Cooking School
Mrs.' George Hatfield, 1201 Diamond street, Anaheim, held the lucky number at the Mahaffey & Fitz cooking school held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Anaheim Union high school auditorium and thus won the Gaffers & Satler gas range offered as the grand door prize.
In addition to the range, Maceries through the courtesy of the Alpha Beta Markets, a ham, a bathroom scale, two silex coffee makers, a Proitor Never-Lift iron, a clothes hamper, two Samson card tables and a kitchen stepladder, but no record was kept of the names of the winners of these prizes.

The school was conducted by Dr. James E. Cantrell, famous food authority, author, beauty expert and physician.

Navy Offers Commissions To Medicos
Applications for commissions in the new Navy Medical Service Corps are sought from qualified Naval Reserve and former temporary officers of the Navy.
Vacancies in the new Navy corps, which was created in the last session of Congress, exist in the pharmacy, optometry and medical allied sciences fields. Ranks of ensign through captain are provided for in the new corps, which is under the supervision of

Future work and social activities were planned by several Girl and Brownie Scout troops of Anaheim, highlighting activities here last week.
ST. BONIFACE SCOUTS
Troop 7 of St. Boniface school met with Mrs. J. F. Dutzi, leader, and Mrs. John Ricker, assistant leader, to discuss an overnight weekend at Lemon Heights, an official camping spot for Orange county scouts. Recently 16 troop members and the two leaders enjoyed an overnight trip there featuring outdoor cooking and a four mile hike to Rabbit Lake and back.
WASHINGTON SCOUTS
Meeting with Mrs. G. S. Hansard, leader, assisted by Mrs. D. Downs, were members of George Washington Girl Scout Troop 28, recently. Miss Dorothy Bowe, Scout director, announced a pot luck dinner scheduled for December 5, in the social hall of White Temple Methodist church. Credit for the affair will go toward members' hostess badges. Activities are also centering around the transportation and communication badges. Members have enjoyed visits to the local post office, Anaheim Bulletin office, telegraph office and the Orange Citrus Association.
KATELLA BROWNIES
Brownie Troop 36 members met at Katella school recently with Mrs. W. F. Olding, leader, and Mrs. W. K. Cuthbert and Mrs. Cuba Reed, assistants. The troop heard the life history of Juliette Low who spread a friendship theme in the foundation of the Girl Scout organization. Each Brownie is donating one penny a week to the Juliette Low fund. Parent-Education Group At 'Teen Scene' Lecture
More than 45 parents and teachers interested in bettering relationships between parents and children gathered in the high school library at 7:30 o'clock Tuesday evening to hear a discussion of "The Teen Scene" by Mrs. Melvin Salveson, parent-education advisor. The integrated lecture and question program marked the fourth in a series of six presentations.

LINCOLN BROWNIE TROOPS
Three Brownie Scout troops have been formed at Lincoln school. Mrs. Larry Moran is leader of Troop 10, fourth grade, assisted by Mrs. Edna Peterson. Third grade leader of Troop 44 is Mrs. W. Hollowell, assisted by Mrs. Roland Reynolds. Mrs. Orval Thomason is in charge of the second grade troop. A joint meeting was enjoyed by the troop last week. Diana Hollowell was the honoree of a birthday party which featured a cake topped with Brownie emblems and delectable servings of punch.
BROADWAY TROOP 4
Baseball and basketball games were featured during a recent meeting of Girl Scout Troop 4 of Broadway school. Under the guidance of Mrs. M. W. Fiscus and Mrs. Norbert De Cook, the second class members are painting flower pots and new members are creating luncheon cloths. Troop members Rella Cherry and Carolyn Fiscus were applauded for taking first prize in the elementary division of the Hallowe’en window painting contest.
NEW DAUGHTER
Mr. and Mrs. John Garcia of Route 1, Box 25, Anaheim, welcomed a baby daughter Tuesday, at the Santa Ana Community hospital. The infant weighed seven pounds, six and one-half ounces.

New meeting place for the Wednesday morning creative writing class instructed in Fullerton by Mrs. Helen Shaw of Altadena is the Sunny Hills Ranch home of Mrs. Verne Smith. The beginning session is from 9:30 to 10:30 o'clock and the regular course from 10:30 to 12:30 o'clock.
In addition to the 10-week morning course, Mrs. Shaw is conducting a beginning and regular evening course each Wednesday night in the guild hall of St. Andrew's Episcopal church, 226 West American street, Fullerton, from 7 to 8 o'clock and from 8 to 10 o'clock.
Frequent visitor to the well integrated sessions is Mrs. Ethel Jacobson, light verse and feature writer.
Meeting Will Seek Harmony On Sewer Plan
Alteration of the boundaries of the ten proposed sanitary districts to be included in the county-wide sewerage plan was regarded as a possible outcome of a meeting between members of the county board of supervisors, the county committee of ten representing various interests, including cities and agricultural areas, and the board of engineers which drew up the sewerage plan to be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the board room at the court house.
Meantime steps were taken at a meeting of representatives of the communities included within District 2 to form a campaign organization to win support for the sewerage plan. The meeting was called by the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce and was held at the Spanish Kitchen.
