HEETER, BURKHARDT, VERRY BACK FROM COLO. RIVER Silence prevailed concerning the angling trip of Ralph Heeter, Jack Burkhardt and Al Verry. The trio returned from the site opposite Searchlight, Nevada, last Monday and "They ain't talkin'," usually reliable sources report. Everybody's Talking About Our Insured Moth-Proofing WHENEVER the conversation turns to clothes, someone is sure to mention our unique MONITE Moth-Proof Cleaning Process. We not only clean clothes thoroughly and finish them beautifully. In addition we make them absolutely moth-proof — and insure them against moth damage for a period of six months! Is it any wonder people are talking? ACME CLEANERS AND DYERS 920 N·LOS ANGELES ST·ANAHEIM·TEL·2405 Courier-Nurses are back on the Santa Fe You'll meet them on El Capitan and the Scout Courier-Nurses are back on the Santa Fe You'll meet them on El Capitan and the Scout ...With their cheery smiles and friendly greetings these capable young women, registered nurses all, are back lending a helping hand to mothers traveling with babies and children...aiding the sick and aged...and assisting all other travelers requiring their services. And 20 to 1 it's baked with GAS SOCIETY NOTE: Suzie's Mom did it again the birthday cake was a dandy! And 20 to it was baked with Gas...with this very important advantage in cake-baking—GAS heat circulates. The circulated heat bakes a particle—evenly, through and through! And at the very shade of heat called for by the recipe. Baking, broiling, speed-frying, slow-simmer—you always do better with GAS In fact, gas cooking is used in more than 95 per cent of all the homes within reach of Southern California and Southern Counties Gas Company system. SOUTHERN COUNTIES GAS COMPANY Modern, practical, flame-perfect GAS Annies Begin Spring Training Continued from Page 1 went into a fighting uniform instead of a playing uniform. Two candidates for second base position are Bill Pender of Bellflower, an outstanding athlete at Excelsior high school, and George Caswell who last year was with the undefeated San Diego State college team where he earned a fielding average of .984 and hit at the rate of .327. This week it looked like Ray McNulty of Roseville at shortstop. He was one of the top players last year in the Pioneer league, covering the short field for Idaho Falls and was highly recommended to the Annies management by Joe Orengo, Sacramento coach. Chuck Hargrove, well known Placentia boy, seems to be slated for third base. The backstop situation looks "fairly good" to Manager Rothrock. His name is not officially on the dotted line, but Jerry Gardner is expected to be the first string catcher. Backing him up will be Tommy Kincannon of Lomita who has been playing during the past winter with the San Pedro Merchants. The training period will open with four good boys to try out as moundsmen. Sacramento left with the Annies a gangling youngster named Allen Bowles of Seattle who pitches a speedy ball and should be "quick" at night. George Mene of here has good prospects of making the grade. Another is "Bullet Bob" Baker of Long Beach and the fourth is Harry Ohlsen of San Diego who had a Cleveland Indian contract offered him but passed up the opportunity to play with his buddy, George Caswell. The season's schedule for the Annies: April 20, 21, 22 and 23, Anaheim at Reno. April 25, 26, 27, 27, Riverside at Anaheim. April 29 and May 1, Ontario at Anaheim. April 30, Anaheim at Ontario. Espee Will Streamline Station Here The ancient, somewhat drab, two-story Southern Pacific station on South Anaheim is going to undergo a face-lifting, streamlining operation, according to Agent G. L. Rorer. Its two stories will be reduced to one; its exterior will be stuccoed and plans call for a generally slicked-up appearance. The application for a city building permit states the alteration will cost $10,000. Other applications revealed two more houses are to join the five abuilding in Bonnat's subdivision on East Center street. One to be located at 159 Evelyn drive will cost $10,000, and the other, at 135 Evelyn drive is to cost $9,000. Applications filed during the past week covered proposed construction totaling $45,500, mostly for dwellings. Other applicants: Charles R. Hokanson to build a dwelling costing $6,000 at 929 North Helena. W. T. Underwood and G. O. Guss, to construct dwelling and garage costing $8,500 at 414 South Illinois. Stephen A. Rimpau, to alter store front at 400 East Center, at a cost of $2,000. LEGAL NOTICES acquired other than or in addition to that of the said Alice M. Fifty-cycle meters are being replaced by 60-cycle ones in homes, offices and business places Your electrical current will not be changed to 60 cycles for another month or two, (you will receive the exact date in the mail) but we're getting ready for the changeover now. Fifty-cycle meters are being replaced by 60-cycle ones in homes, offices and business places of Edison customers here. Installation of the new meter does not mean that your frequency has been changed. The meter merely records the current—it does not change the frequency. When the changeover is completed, Edison customers will enjoy the many advantages of mass production and standardization, now that 60 cycles is the national standard. You will be able to enjoy the various frequency-sensitive devices (record players, clocks, timers, automatic washing machines, etc.) now being produced only for 60-cycle use. The nuisance and expense of cycle-changing such items if you ever move out of Edison territory will be gone, too, because 60 cycles now is being used in practically all the nation. The change to 60-cycle current is another demonstration of Edison's desire to improve your electric service in every possible way. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY Frequency Change Department
