CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
"Substance" will be the Sunday Lesson-Sermon subject in all branches of The Mother Church. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Paul's declaration to the Corinthians is the Golden Text: "God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work."
This incident is told in Mark's Gospel. "And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and behold how the people cast money into the treasury; and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them. Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more than all they which have cast into the treasury; For all they did cast in of their abundance! but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living."
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes: "Christians rejoice in secret beauty and bounty, hidden from the world, but known to God... Practice not profession, understanding not belief, gain the ear and right hand of omnipotence and they assuredly call down infinite blessings."

IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED,
SAYS LOCAL QUINTET
White as a scratch sheet were five Anaheimers who attended the races at Santa Anita Wednesday of last week. Seems a local barber and track fan had marked a race form for the group. He happened to pick "bank tails" that came in either as winners or placed to the tune of 99 per cent at "darn good odds" equalling $250 potential profit. En route to the races, the sheet was lost. Betting by memory resulted in a financial status quo. Sad parties included Lucille Bouchey and Marcy and Dick Bartol all of Adams Ice Cream parlor and Mariene Hendron of Parker House cafe.
"COLP" OF THE WEEK
Seen flying "too low" on La Palma and Euclid avenue was Jack Gregg, the Placentia Spaniard, of Fullerton Airport, in a "two-seater". His "buggy" was parked previously overnight in a bean patch via a perfect dead stick duo landing. Could be it froze up. His many friends of this city are wondering if taxi service is being installed since there is plenty of run-way for one.
