The suit of To Launch County Revival Services January 26 Sponsored by more than 60 of the county's leading churches, the "Christ for Orange County" man, is being hailed as the greatest revival in Orange county's history. A movement Hyman Appelman revival which will open January 26, according to E. S. Goodner, campaign chair that has been nation-wide in scope and featuring one of America's outstanding evangelists, Hyman Appelman, the "Christ for Orange County" organization will erect a huge canvas tabernacle three miles north of Santa Ana on Highway 101 to handle the anticipated crowds. Evangelist Appelman, a converted Jewish attorney, is now speaking before capacity crowds in the San Diego First Presbyterian church and has attracted full audiences at recent city-wide meetings in Philadelphia, Kansas City, Louisville, Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and other large American towns. Appelman was also chosen by the Christ for greater Los Angeles group to lead their revival, where he spoke to over 100,000 people. The big revival, which will extend for three weeks, will feature Dr. Appelman; song leader Homer Britton, a former Chattanooga, Tennessee pastor, and other noted personalities in religious work. The tent on 101 highway is being equipped with a modern lighting and public address sys- F. W. A. Planning Funds for FJC Planning funds totaling $32,650 have been advanced by the Federal Works Agency to Fullerton Union high school and Fullerton junior college district, it was revealed by T. Stanley Warburton, superintendent. He was notified of the agency's action in a wire from Senator William F. Knowland of California. The funds advanced to the district are to be expanded in preparing plans, working drawings and specifications for buildings on the two campuses with the F.W.A. to be reimbursed by the school district when construction begins. Conformity of style of the buildings included on the long range plan in agreement with the standard adopted by the division of architecture of the California state department of public works. Included will be a two-story reinforced-concrete science building for the jaysee campus to be constructed, as estimated by School Architect, William H. Harrison, at $32,300 and a similar science building on the high school campus to be built for approximately $249,700 and a projected one-story music building, at an estimated cost of $120,479. Planning funds for this building have been advanced by the F.W.A. in the amount of $5,500. He was associated with the supply office of the Third Division of the Infantry in African and European campaigns during the recent war. At the time of his discharge following V-J Day, he was a colonel. The son of A. C. Riutcel of Anaheim, he is now Red Cross disaster chairman in Fullerton. Heffner, 30, 821 S. Claudina street, Anaheim, has reenlisted for three years in the Army Air Corps and plans to make the Army a career. Heffner is a veteran of World War II. Matilda Hedstrom Passes Tuesday Mrs. Matilda Hedstrom, a resident at the ranch home at Route 1, Box 268, this city, since 1906, passed away there on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Born in Sweden 86 years ago, she came to this country shortly before coming to Anaheim to make her home. The deceased was a member of the First Baptist church in Garden Grove. Surviving are five daughters, Misses Jennie, Grace and Edith Hedstrom of the home, Mrs. Esther Simmons of Hollywood, and Mrs. Helen Farquhar of Hollywood; two sons, Edward Hedstrom of Oakland, and George Hedstrom of the home, who is with the school system of this city; two grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Alfred Hill of Highland Park, Illinois. Funeral services are being conducted this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock from the chapel of Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars mortuary with the Rev. Victor C. Hayman, pastor of the First Baptist church in Garden Grove, officiating. Burial will be in Loma Vista Memorial Park. Telephone Hour To Feature Four Concert Artists Four outstanding concert artists will appear on the first "Telephone Hour" programs of 1947 it was disclosed today by R. J. Rossberg, manager of the southern California telephone company. The four guest artists in January on the regular Monday night program broadcast over all NBC stations at 9 p.m., will be Marian Anderson, Josef Hofmann, Jascha Heifetz and Lauritz Melchior. Donald Voorhees and the 57-piece Bell Symphonic orchestra, as their part in the programs, will accompany the guest artists and play many favorite selections. Miss Anderson, famous contralto and a favorite with the telephone hour audience, was heard on January 6. Dr. Hofmann, internationally famous as a pianist, returned for another appearance last Monday, January 13th. Heifetz, famed violinist, has arranged a brilliant program for presentation on January 20. The beloved star of screen, radio and the concert stage, Lauritz Melchoir, will be featured on the program of January 27th. Hereafter, veterans wishing to transact business with the Veterans Administration will not be required to make a trip to Santa Ana, inasmuch as contact representative, Mr. Hurry and Get Those '47 Plates Sacramento officials of the Department of Motor Vehicles recently announced that sufficient supplies of 1947 license plates have been received to start mailing them out in limited quantities to those vehicle owners whose applications for license renewal have been processed. Approximately 1,000,000 pairs have been completed by the manufacturer to date and it is expected another half million will have been completed by February 4, the renewal deadline. The still acute steel shortage, however, will preclude manufacture of the last consignment of plates until about April 1. Some owners, therefore, may have to wait as late as June for their plates especially if they wait until the last minute before penalties are due to pay their fees. Applicants need to present only their 1946 Registration Card and the amount of their fees as shown on the lower left hand corner of the card. Personal checks are not accepted. NEW PLANT FOOD FACTORY TO AID GROWERS Further expanding plant facilities to improve service to California ranchers and growers, Swift & Company has begun work on a major addition to its Los Angeles plant food factory, it was announced today by S. B. Tatem, Manager. "The Los Angeles addition, together with the new plant food factory completed by Swift this month at Hayward, California, will greatly increase our ability to supply plant foods to Californian farmers," Mr. Tatem reported.
