Thomas E. Hurley, C.S.B., of Louisville, Kentucky, will be the speaker. The lecture is sponsored by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Fullerton, and is authorized by the Mother church, First Church of Christ, Boston, Massachusetts, to explain Christian Science principles. In particular, Hurley will stress the power of prayer to heal disease and destroy fear. All such lectures are open to everyone and are free. Children's Choir Carolers For Xmas Program Personifying the deep religious significance of the Christmas spirit, children's robed choirs are to be featured during the holiday week, December 16 to 30, inclusive, in several downtown stores, Mrs. Helen G. Nelson, music chairman, announced. Carol singers will be heard from trucks, furnished by the business division of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, throughout the city. The response from all churches contacted has been wonderful, Mrs. Nelson revealed. She requested that any church not called to date concerning the new innovation, telephone 4258 during the day or 4687 during the evening. To Name Sponsor Of County Fair Sponsor of the annual Orange County Fair and Horse Show will be chosen by the board of supervisors after January 1, when Gov. Earl Warren is expected to fill vacancies on the agricultural district board. The County Assistance league has again offered to sponsor the event. The Associated Chambers would prefer the sponsorship and the 32nd agricultural District Association, a state agency, has proposed that it be made manager of the 1947 fair. Location is still undecided. The municipal bowl and city-owned property adjacent which, during the war years served as AAF training command headquarters, was used last year. However, the headquarters buildings are now a community center and are not available. Anna M. Wolfert Claimed by Death Mrs. Anna M. Wolfert, 53 years old, passed away last Monday, Dec. 2, at Seaside hospital in Long Beach. Born in North Dakota, she had been a resident of Anaheim since 1924, making the family home on route one. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, A. L. Wolfert; one daughter Miss Dorothy Jean Wolfert of the home; two sisters Mrs. Cora Cushnaghan of Bellflower and Mrs. Clara Dokken of North Dakota; three brothers, Oscar Oiüm, Henry Oiüm and Richard Oiüm of North Dakota. The deceased was a member of the First Christian church in Long Beach. Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars mortuary Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Ruben L. Anderson, pastor of the Christian church in Long Beach, officiating. Interment was made in Westminster Memorial Park cemetery. Student Writers Contest at SAJC Poet Don Blanding and Mrs. Audree W. Lyons, editor of Western Family magazine, will be the featured speakers at the Santa Ana junior college Writers' Workshop tomorrow, Friday afternoon. Additional highlight will be a contest for outstanding creative writing and journalism articles. Three articles may be submitted by each high school in the following fields: newswriting, features and editorials, sports and creative writing (prose and poetry). Gilie de los Reyes Buried Here Thurs. Mrs. Gilie de los Reyes, 84 years of age, passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Romona Gonzales, 612 East Cypress street, on Monday, Dec. 2. She was born in Sonora, Mexico, and had lived in Anaheim for 83 years. Surviving are the sister, Mrs. Gonzales; and two brothers, Falamio of Yorba Linda and Manuel of El Modena. Recitation of the Holy Rosary was observed at the home on East Cypress at 7 o'clock Wednesday evening with mass at St. Boniface church Thursday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment was in Holy Sepulchre cemetery. Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Clyde D. Brown Passes Friday Clyde D. Brown, 34 years of age, passed away at the family home at 549 South Indiana street, this city, on Friday, Nov. 29, death coming suddenly. Born in Truman, Arkansas, the deceased had lived in Anaheim for two years and was manager of Fox theater in Fullerton. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Josephine; one daughter, Miss Marietta Brown of the home; his mother, Mrs. Lessie Brown of St. Louis, Mo., and two sisters.
