Picking of the new crop of vertebrates avocados is underway and most areas fruit sizes are better than last season. The walnut and almond harvest is completed. Due to heat during the growing season the walnut crop was reduced by 59,000 tons, compared to 60,000 tons last year, and a 10-year average of 55,420 tons. However an almond crop of 35,100 was considerably larger than usual. Tomatoes are still moving in a few protected areas in southern California.
