With the insight of brilliance our founding fathers recognized the inherent right of a man like anything or dislike it—to brace it or stay away from it think it good or to think it bad. The dangerous error of flow this fundamental characteristic imperfect human nature has committed by the proponent Proposition 11 on our General Election ballot. It is the so-called advisory for it could only, if incorporated in the law of this state, do every ideal of fairness in employment. It would only incrction, disrupt relations between employer and employee—and even greater degree, dispeaceful association of employees with employee. This menacing proposition will subject every California farm to arrest and legal punishment he should, in deciding against a man or deciding against keeping him on the payroll, into slightest consideration of man's "race, religion, color, national origin or ancestry!" Now, that provision has a spousal tone of humanness are fitness. But every California farmer knows that the FEPC, in practice, would actually force him, particularly at harvest time to incite race riots on his farm—if not, indeed, make it possible for him to get his chance at all! Of all classes of employe California farmers are perhaps most willing to hire workers utter personal indifference to hue of their skins or their native antecedents or their religious beliefs. The fact remains, however, that some of the minority race groups that make up much of agricultural labor forces are compatible—are mutually hostile. Individuals of these incompatible groups cannot be put at work together without friction as inevitable consequence—and we out grave risk, as many farmers have learned to their sorrow violence. It is simply common sense—the part of the farmer to assist hiring, as members of the social work group, men of sharply flicting customs, creeds and practices. It is even more than common sense—it is an act of duty to refuse to inflict the fortune of brawls and riots on community We Don’t Like It Either We regret the crowding and inconvenience you have been subjected to on our transportation lines during recent months. Anticipated delivery of a large number of new motor coaches ordered long ago has been delayed time after time due to labor difficulties in the bus industry. The manufacturers now advise that there will be further delay in delivery due to continued labor difficulties and that it will be late this year before new coaches are available. By every means possible we are endeavoring to take care of present heavy volume of rush-hour travel, but until additional equipment is available or a plan devised to spread peak hour loads, there will be very heavy loading during morning and evening rush hours. Your continued cooperative understanding of these conditions is appreciated. PACIFIC ELECTRIC RAIL AND MOTOR COACH LINES H.O. MARKER, Passenger Traffic Manager, Los Angeles Ralph H. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY 4-1046 VFW and Disabled Veterans Fight 'Smear' Campaign The Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans today made a telegraphic appeal to U.S. Attorney General Tom C. Clark to take immediate action against an interlocking horse race and motion picture trust, accused by the veterans of conducting a half-million dollar "smear" campaign against the VFW, DAV and Proposition 2—the greyhound racing measure on the November ballot. The veteran organizations charged that motion picture interests are exercising monopolistic controls against them to keep the arguments in favor of Proposition 2 from reaching the public. They said that a trailer which the VFW and DAV had prepared on support of Proposition 2 has been barred from California theatres controlled by the movie trust. The trailer consists of an appeal on behalf of the VFW and the DAV for the passage of Proposition 2, recorded on film, by Lloyd F. Oleson, National Commander of the DAV, and M. C. Hermann, California Quartermaster-Adjutant of the VFW. In their complaint to the Attorney General, the veteran organizations stated that the same California theatres which have barred the trailer favoring Proposition 2 have been ordered by the movie trust to insert a trailer opposing the greyhound racing measure in every newsreel shown. In their complaint to the Attorney General, the veteran organizations stated that the same California theatres which have barred the trailer favoring Proposition 2 have been ordered by the movie trust to insert a trailer opposing the greyhound racing measure in every newsreel shown between October 21 and election day. They said the veteran organizations had offered to pay for the showing of their own trailer in every theatre carrying the trailer prepared against them by the movie trust, adding that their offer had been ignored. They called for immediate Federal action against the theatre combine. The veteran groups explained that the motion picture industry's interest in defeating Proposition 2 systems from its fear that greyhound racing will offer competition for the public's entertainment dollar.
