YOU send your children to school—you give them the best food—and dress them as well as you can afford: yet if you don’t see that they get at least a quart of milk a day until the age of twelve—and a pint a day after—you are denying them one of the greatest, natural benefits!

Scouters Hold 5th Get-together At Fullerton High

The necessity of accurate advancement and financial records was emphasized by Appling while Brauner called attention to the need for proper camping facilities, supplementing his remarks with motion pictures.
The sixth and final meeting of the course was held last Tuesday, October 20, in room 60B of the high school. Funeral services will be held this afternoon Thursday for NSGW President At County Meeting
R. G. Power, postmaster of Colusa, grand president of the Native Sons of the Golden West was the honored guest at a meeting of Native Sons from throughout Orange county at Memorial hall, Huntington Beach; last Tuesday night at 7:30 o'clock. Also present was Power's corps of grand officials from the north, now touring the south in the interests of the organization. A large class of candidates from the Mother Colony Parlor in this city, Santa Ana Parlor, and Paradise Parlor, Huntington Beach, were initiated.
A fast growing organization, six new parlors have been instituted in southern California alone during the past few months, Power remarked.
During the Centennial period commemorating the years 1840 to 1850, the Native Sons have participated in many California celebrations including the Bear Flag Centennial, June 14, at Sonoma, jointly staged by the NSGW and the State of California.
AWVS President Stresses Action In World Affairs
All Americans took part in national affairs during the war—and now, we must become active in world affairs, if the peace is to be won—Mrs. Ryer Nixon, state president of the American Women's Voluntary Service of California, declared. She sees no letup in the obligations of all citizens, and is spurring the members of the AWVS to work for a full vote as they worked with the armed forces and in scores of other fields during wartime.
November, 1946, gives each of us a chance to enter the arena of morality of us, they must not be elected by a rubber stamp vote but by the considered choice of an intelligent electorate".
"It is equally important to study candidates for election to state positions. Half of the California state senate and the full assembly must be chosen this year".
"Discuss the fitness of the candidates with your friends, neighbors and the club group to which you belong, but do not shift your individual responsibility to others. It is your individual duty and privilege to exercise your vote."
"Make sure you vote and see to it that your family and friends vote also".
"The peoples of the world look to the United States for leadership. We, the voters, must provide the leaders".
To Elect Community Committeemen
The election of 1947 community committeemen will highlight the 12 district meetings of the Orange County Conservation association, Stephen Criset, committee chairman, announced. District "E" meeting will be held at Anaheim Union high school, Tuesday, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
Colored motion pictures will be featured at the meetings, including a comedy, "Conservation Farming" and an explanation of production practices by the Agricultural Extension Service.

“November, 1946, gives each of us a chance to enter the arena of world affairs and to influence the trend of these crucial times. Thousands of Vets Registering at State's Schools
Approximately 22,000 veterans, or more than 1,000 per day, were officially registered with the Los Angeles Veterans Administration regional office between October 1 and 21 as new students in Southern California educational institutions.
Although this record breaking registration caused the heaviest work load in the history of local schools, colleges and the Veterans Administration, L. C. Chapman, regional VA manager announced today, there is no back log on processable cases where the records are complete. Schools and VA are using all possible means to expedite the movement of completed records.
Every effort is being made, Chapman said, to see that subsistence checks are mailed to veterans on time. But due to the mechanics of preparing the great number of checks due for release on October 31, many veterans in this area may not receive their checks until November 15.
TO ENJOY STAG STEAKS
A lucky hunter was Elton Snanely of Ball road who just returned from a successful deer hunting trip with a four-point stag. Snanely doesn't plan to worry about the upsurge of meat prices for a while, anyway, he remarked.
Four-fifths of all the gas used in the United States today is natural gas which comes up from the beds of sands thousands of feet underground.
Call Issued for Ex-"Amphibs" to Join Organization
The West Coast chapter of the Amphibian Engineer association, composed of all former members of the six Engineer Special Brigades that were activated and served during World War II, issued a call to all publications today, requesting aid in locating ex-"Amphibs" who have not been reached through normal mailing channels.
All men who were members of the Army's "Amphibs" and who reside on the West Coast, may attend the next meeting of the chapter, which will take place on December 14. Further information may be obtained by contacting Lieutenant Joseph E. Boyle, Headquarters, Second Engineer Special Brigade, Fort Ord, California.
Ex-Soldiers May Now Retain Army Rank in Reserves
Former enlisted men of the army may now enlist in the Enlisted Reserve Corps in the grade held at time of discharge, according to an announcement made by Lieutenant E. F. Tully, army recruiting officer.
Heretofore, discharged enlisted men have been permitted to enlist in the Reserve Corps in grade held at time of discharge only if the enlistment was accomplished within six months.
Enlistments may be accomplished at the army recruiting office, 202½ West 3rd street, Santa Ana.

DOG STILL 'BITES MAN'
