Lindsay At Fourth Meeting Guest speaker at the fourth meeting of the Scoutmasters' Training Course, currently being given at the Fullerton Union high school, was W. T. Lindsay, assistant scout executive of the Los Angeles Area Council, who discussed the "Advancement Program." A demonstration of semaphore signaling with later group participation in a signaling relay and an illustration of methods of instruction of first aid followed the discussion. It was announced the overnight camp out for participants in the course will be held November 16 and 17 in Tonner Canyon. These discussions and instructional sessions for scoutmasters and interested laymen of this area are held regularly on Thursday evening in room 63B at 7:30, and the public is welcome at all regular meetings. A: Yes, unless he is paid under a voluntary disability plan approved by the commission as part of the disability insurance system. QA Series Covers Disability Benefits' Eligibility Rules Eligibility rules of the new Unemployment Compensation Disability Benefits program are covered in today's questions and answers about the disability insurance plan that becomes effective December 1. The Gazette is presenting this series on disability insurance in answer to numerous requests for information about the new program. The final articles in the series will appear soon. Q: Is disability insurance the same as unemployment insurance? A: No. To obtain unemployment insurance, a claimant must be unemployed and able to work. To obtain disability insurance, he must be unemployed because of sickness or injury. Q: Is unemployment insurance and disability insurance payable for the same week? A: No. Only one benefit may be paid for each full week of unemployment. If the eligible claimant is unemployed and able to work, the benefit is paid from the unemployment insurance fund. If he is unemployed because of disability, and is eligible, he will be paid from the disability fund. Q: May a worker draw both disability insurance and unemployment insurance during the same benefit year? A: Yes. Both types of benefits can be paid during a single benefit year, but payments under either program will be limited to 100 per cent of the award for that program; and payment under both programs will be limited to 150 per cent of the award for either benefit. Youth Choir The Intermediate Youth choir of the White Temple Methodist church will have charge of the 7:30 o'clock worship hour this Sunday evening, it was announced today by Mrs. Elva Andrews, choir director. Episcopal Stag Dinner-Program Of special interest to all Episcopal churchmen is the stag dinner-program scheduled for next Tuesday at the Church of the Messiah, Fifth and Bush streets, Santa Ana, at 6:30 o'clock under the sponsorship of the Episcopal church men of Orange, Anaheim and Santa Ana. A Spanish dinner with "all the trimmings" will be served, it was announced by Rev. Wesley Havermale, pastor of the Church of the Messiah, chairman for the occasion. Rev. John Kimball Saville, pastor of St. Michael's Episcopal church of this city, and Rev. Edward E. Hailwood, pastor of Trinity church, Orange, will be co-chairmen in charge of the program. A comedy act and motion pictures will be featured, Rev. Saville revealed. Texas proclaimed its independence from Mexico in 1838, when it was recognized by the United States. Proposition 3 will relieve the teacher famine in California by guaranteeing public school teachers a minimum salary of $2400 a year. Local taxes will not be increased by this measure. State funds are available for this purpose. Two hundred California organizations, including the following, urge you to vote "YES" on 3—Republican and Democratic Parties, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, AFL, CIO, Native Daughters and Native Sons, and P-TA. Winifred Walker, one of America's ace cinematographers, last week's speaker, was enthusiastically applauded. Her combined comments and presentation of motion pictures painted a vivid scene of conditions present throughout western Europe today. The first two lectures, presented by Clifford J. Kamen, brought to the high school auditorium the largest forum attendance since its inauguration. Musical numbers precede each program. Galvan Child Dies Wednesday Little three-month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph P. Galvan, Gloria R. Galvan, died early yesterday, Wednesday morning, at St. Jospeh hospital, Orange, after a brief illness. The family home is at 10842 Rose street, Stanton. The child leaves to mourn, her parents: paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Galvan of Lindsay, California, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Bettine of Durango, Colorado.
