Local Farm Lad Wins State Award Star State Farmer awards were given to six California farm youths, one of them an Anaheim lad, at the 18th annual convention of Future Farmers of America last Friday. Each one of the six farm lad shows that they'd earned an average of $3,970 during high school through his Future Farmer agricultural projects and that each has an average net worth in land livestock, equipment and other farming assets of $6,650. Willoughby Houk, from Doy Palos high school in Merced county is California's Star State Farmer. He was the central regional winner. Other regional award went to Philip Morisoli, St. Helena, north coast; Claudio Bettigia Santa Maria, south coast; Don Chambers, Chico, Sacramento valley; Dino Petrucci, Madera, San Joaquin valley and Milno Stearns Anaheim, southern. Stearns, of Anaheim, is developing registered Jerseys and poultry. He was president of his FFF chapter and treasurer of the chapter and region. Last year he was high man in the quiz contest sponsored by five leading agriculture cooperatives and participated in the 1000 Future Farmers. TOP HONORS GO TO "THE MRS." Octave "Champion" Roquet the West Broadway grocery store turned his title over to his wife following a bass fishing expedition to Lake Elsinore recently. Mr. Roquet beat him by a ratio four to one.
