The conference was presided over by S. W. Stanley, Tustin, Ray B. Wiser, state president, and other staff members of the California Farm Bureau Federation, took part in the conference. In making arrangements for the meeting, President Wiser cared attention to the rapid growth of the bureau, which will exceed 40,000 family memberships for the first time this year. Increased membership has caused an increase in organization problems he stated. Attention was also given to the state convention of the farm bureau in Santa Cruz, October 28-November 1, and to the record-breaking national convention in San Francisco in December 8-12. The San Francisco conference is expected to draw at least 15,000 farmers. Fifteen special trains are due from the west alone, five of them coming from Indiana. Wants 'Yes' Vote? Wants 'Yes' Vote On Proposition 3 In November Poll Ed W. Bolt, chairman of the Veterans' Homes and Farms committee, urged a "yes" vote on Proposition 1 at the November election. "While other states have provided veterans with a car bonus that was soon dissipated California's Farm and Home Purchase act has really provided lasting benefits to its returning soldiers and daughters at no cost to taxpayers," he said. Proposition 1 would provide $100,000,000 state bond issue continue long-term, low-cost financing of the Veterans' Farm and Home Purchase act in accordance with California's pledge to its veterans. Already the framers of this act have saved the people of the state the principal sum of $35,000,000 in addition to the interest. "The State Department of Veterans' Affairs has always been self-supporting and the chairmen and members of the veterans' board have set up rules and regulations for efficiency and economy which have not only made it possible to pay all operating expenses without cost to the taxpayers, but they have also established a state department that has no equal so far as economical orministration is concerned;" said Bolt. According to Bolt, members of the board have contributed time and business intelligence without renumeration, and constant vigilance and good judgment have made it possible to operate this department on the ground. The conference was led over by B. W. Stanley of Ray B. Wiser, state president and other staff members of California Farm Bureau Fed., took part in the confermaking arrangements for meeting, President Wiser called attention to the rapid growth of the bureau, which will exceed family memberships for the time this year. Increased ownership has caused an increase in organization problems, and Attention was also given the state convention of the bureau in Santa Cruz, October-November 1, and to the breaking national convention San Francisco in December 2. The San Francisco con-ference is expected to draw at 5,000 farmers. Fifteen speeches are due from the mid-lone, five of them coming Indiana. Plants 'Yes' Vote on Proposition 3 November Poll W. Bolt, chairman of the homes' Homes and Farms commurged a "yes" vote on proposition 1 at the November 5th. "While other states have come derived from not only the difference in the interest rate between the sum charged the veterans for loads and the bond issue interest rates, but from premiums which the buyers of the bonds have paid whenever they were offered for sale. The bonds, whenever authorised by the voters, are eagerly sought by the investors and always have been considered triple-A security, inasmuch as the sums invested under loans have sample property security, and also by endorsement of the people of the state. "Previous bond issues now have been exhausted," Bolt pointed out, "necessitating this new issue on Proposition 1, if California is to continue carrying out its pledge to provide much-needed farms and homes for its veterans." Christopher Columbus made and sold maps for a living. Planning a NEW HOME? Let GOOD WIRING keep it modern for many years to come!
