GLASS, ITS WONDERFUL
Glass is becoming more versatile, its manufacturers report through continuing research and technological improvement.
Today glass has lost its fragility. It can be sawed, bent, twisted, knotted, nalled, or woven. It can be made lighter than aluminum, or heavier than iron.
The future promises include such diversified products as fireproof cloth, non-breakable tableware, plumbing and many other products of glass fiber combined with plastics.

Blazing Cross Presents Mystery
Answering a call sent in by neighbors of ex-Marine Richard Fugill of Placentia, Officer "Chick" Currier arrived at the scene in time to view a flaming cross on Fugill's front lawn last week.
The blaze was quickly extinguished and the cross confirmed.
Prelims Heard, Policies Formed
Featured in the initial meeting of the California State Chamber of Commerce's statewide small harbor development committee in San Francisco last Saturday, was the formulation of policies for cooperation with communities seeking harbors and preliminary reports were heard on possible small harbor locations all along the California coastline.
Commercial and sports fishermen, yachtsmen, army engineers and others from all over the state attended this meeting, thereby giving the first organized impetus to the small craft and refuge harbor project.
Chairman of the committee Hubbard C. Howe, outlined the need of small vessel anchorages. He detailed specific economic benefits following their construction and he distributed a manual prepared by his committee outlining the procedures to be taken by local communities in seeking projects.
Col. E. H. Marks, division engineer, Army Engineer Corps South Pacific division, stressed the recreational as well as the economic values of small harbor-park development. He outlined precedent for the California development in a similar project covering the Great Lakes. Col. Marks pointed out that army engineers assist, but are not originators of these projects. They must be originated by local interests. He stated that Congress has authorized preliminary surveys from Pt. Pinos to the Mexican line, and these are now under way, while authorization for similar preliminary study to the Oregon line now is in the pending "Rivers and Harbors" bill.
Blazing Cross Presents Mystery
Answering a call sent in by neighbors of ex-Marine Richard Fugill of Placentia, Officer "Chick" Currier arrived at the scene in time to view a flaming cross on Fugill's front lawn last week.
The blaze was quickly extinguished and the erosion confiscated by the police. No one has been located as yet who could (or would) explain this weird prank. The act is reminiscent of a Ku Klux-Klan meeting, during which a cross is burned as a part of the ceremony.
Witnesses describe the cross as being constructed of a good grade of wood and by a seemingly expert carpenter.
