CHRISTIAN SCIENCE The Golden Text of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon on "Adam and Fallen Man" in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, is from Hosea. It reads, "O Israel, return unto the Lord thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity." In a Scriptural selection from Matthew it is related that "the devil taketh" Jesus "up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thoushalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him... And Jesus went about all Galilee, ... healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people." Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:" "Because of the wondrous glory which God bestowed on His anointed, temptation, sin, slickness and death had no terror for Jesus." "When the illusion of sick or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to avide in your thought." Resident of Olive Found Dead Friday Mrs. Dorothy Luchau of Olive found the body of her husband, Henry Luchau, 55, in a building on their ranch there last Friday morning. His throat had been cut and a sharp orange-pickers' knife was nearby. Luchau is reported to have been despondent because of ill health. Job Printing, Gazette, Phone 2206. New Liquid Sulphur Treatment May Boost Orange County Crop A new method of applying liquefied sulphur to increase yields of many crops, including oranges, is attracting attention of agricultural leaders. Improved growth and quality is claimed for the system, especially when applied to alkaline soils. More ready release of plant foods is declared to result in larger crops and to enhance sugar content. Patented by the California-born son of an Irish mother and than because of a shortage of the duck supply. Other southern California counties present a mixed bag of possibilities. Inyo county said most of the local hatch, which normally makes up the bulk of the shooting there departed prior to the opening date. The Buttonwillow district in Kern county was best for unattached shooters, with plenty of ducks on the irrigated fields. Duck population of the Antelope valley in Los Angeles county increased considerable just before opening day. A few northern ducks were in the eastern area of that county, but the general outlook there was rated very poor. Not more than 500 mallards and sprig remained in Mono county, mostly on Crowley lake and along Owens river. The birds had fed out the small pot-hole lakes and were moving off. San Bernardino county reported "lots of ducks" on Baldwin lake, but few on Big Bear and Arrowhead and less than last year on ponds along the river. Sprig and spoonbills are on Cu- Completely equipped for rendering car owners every type of automotive service, the agency's service department is headed by Chet Chase, service manager.
