CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
"Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation." This verse from the Psalms will be the Golden Text in the Sunday Lesson-Sermon on "Soul" in all branches of The Mother Church; The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston.
It is related in Luke that John Baptist sent his disciples unto Jesus, "saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? . . . And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached."
On this subject Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:" "Knowing that Soul and its attributes were forever manifested through man, the Master healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, feet to the lame, thus bringing to light the scientific action of the divine Mind on human minds and bodies and giving better understanding of Soul and salvation."

Russian Chemists Originated 'Blood Bank' After War 1
The joy in American hearts over the stupendous victories and advances of the armed forces can be expressed in a deed of honor next Friday, February 23rd, or any time, by a blood donation at the Red Cross, for our American boys.
It was on February 23rd, 1918 that the Soviet Army repulsed German troops attempting to capture Petrograd. Since then, this day has been set aside as a national Soviet holiday—known as Red Army Day.
To commemorate this day, Russian War Relief, Inc. is enlisting the aid of all in Southern California, desirous of paying tribute to gallant American fighters, to give a pint of blood.
More than seven million Red Army men have been casualties in this war. Thanks to Soviet advances in wartime surgery, and to the thousands of pounds of sulpha drugs and other medical supplies sent them by Americans through Russian War Relief, 72% of Red Army wounded have been able to return to their ranks.
History shows that Russia originated the Blood Bank at the end of World War I when experiments by noted Russian chemists were made with themselves as guinea pigs. Through this discovery, millions of our American boys and those of the Allied Nations.
Native Daughters Cancel Annual State Convention

To aid in the speedy climax of the war and the return of men and women in the service of our country to their homes, is the purpose of the decision made at meeting of the board of grafficers held in San Francisco recently.
"The principles for which our armed forces are fighting are ecouped in those of the Native Daughters," said Grand President EmE. Ryan of San Francisco," in statement released this week.
"Love of home, veneration of the pioneers and an abiding faith in the existence of God are the principts of the organization," she continued "and it is our duty to exemplify them in this materiway. By eliminating the convolation, we feel we are facilitattransportation of troops, food and equipment to the armed forces.
The meeting also went on reord as favoring the allocation of more funds for increasing Frivigilance over the Japanese returning to California and restraints them from fishing in the worters of the Pacific coast."

Draft Delinquents Turned Over to U.S. Justice Dept.
Twenty-one names of delinquents from the Anaheim Selective Service board No. 179 were furnished over the United States Department of Justice last week and the young men will be apprehended as soon as possible to face charges on draft evasion. If found guilty of "draft dodging" they will probably serve sentences in the Arizona Prison camp.
Objectors are given the opportunity of signing up with a non-cambatant unit and serving their country in that manner, but if they refuse to do that they are sentenced to a term in prison camp at hard labor.
Prominent on the list is Billie Don Schmitt, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Schmitt of 1129 West Center street, who has already served one sentence of fifteen months at the Arizona Prison camp. Unable to contact Schmitt a reporter talked with his mother, Mrs. Schmitt, who said that "under no circumstances would he report for induction." She explained that he was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses and "must obey the law of God rather than those made by man."
Another member of Jehovah's Witnesses who has refused to report for induction is Jack Frederick Baumann, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Baumann of Orange avenue, Anaheim. When contacted as to whether or not he would change the existence of God are the principles of the organization," she continued "and it is our duty to exemplify them in this maternal way. By eliminating the convention, we feel we are facilitating transportation of troops, food and equipment to the armed forces.
The meeting also went on record as favoring the allocation of more funds for increasing F.D.vigilance over the Japanese rite turning to California and restraining them from fishing in the waters of the Pacific coast.
Funds for the purchase of third station wagon for the transportation of blood bank donations were completed. Last year the work activities committee furnished one of these vehicles for Los Angeles and one for San Francisco. The third will be purchased for the San Joaquin Valley.

Outfall Sewer Board to Meet at Elks Club Tonight
A meeting of the Outfall sewer board will be held tonight, Thursday, at the Elks club, starting with a 7:00 o'clock dinner. All cities and districts are expected to be represented as the proposition of organizing a sanitation district will be discussed.
Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange and Santa Ana will each have an attorney present in order to thresh out the many legal details involved in such a procedure as well as the feasibility of the undertaking.
The present unit ownership plan of operating the joint sewer under the partnership plan has become too cumbersome since under this plan every item of business must have the unanimous approval of all member cities and all members of each city's city council. Consequently the outfall sewer system, as a going business, has come to a stalemate since Santa Ana dissents to every proposition submitted by the other joint owners.
It is now proposed by the other three city-owners that a sanitation district comprising all of the Santa Ana river drainage basin be organized as a legal entity and the matter taken out of political operation by the various city councils.
