Rotarians Hear Talk on Speech Habits at Meeting
Children's speech habits are mostly formed from associations in the home, at school and with playmates and the importance of good speech habits was vividly told by Miss Natalie Street of the speech department at the Anaheim Union High school last Monday noon when she addressed members of the Rotary club.
Dramatics have a great value in developing good speech habits, she said, in that it improves speech techniques, makes a person conscious of talking habits, posture and other body positions, teaches the pupil co-operation in mutual activity and teaches tolerance through portraying and better understanding character roles.
The army has discovered the great value of plays and is now using them in the rehabilitation of soldiers. Soldier patients are cast in roles along the lines in which the doctors would like them to develop in real life.
Following her instructive talk an army training film on basic electricity was shown by M/Sgt. Robert Morgan of the Air Corps Western Flying Training Command.

Family Opposes 'Diary' Will of Mrs. Sarah Breen
The late Mrs. Sarah Breen of Anaheim, who died last month as a result of injuries sustained when struck by an automobile while crossing Broadway street, intended to leave her considerable fortune of $40,000 to President Roosevelt for furtherance of the infantile paralysis program, her diary revealed, but her sister, Mrs. Mary Abbey Anderson of Fullerton and other members of the family claim that she died intestate. Presiding Superior Judge Raymond Thompson has set Feb. 23 for hearing of a petition by one of her sisters, Mrs. Anderson, for letters of administration and a petition by Public Administrator Earl R. Abbey for probate of a "will."
A note written in the back of Mrs. Breen's diary was found by Attorney Stephen Gallagher of Anaheim who represents the public administrator in the action. The note stated the deceased's intention of writing a will in which she would leave $1,000 to Mrs. Anderson at $100 a month, $500 each to Mrs. Hazel Mason of Santa Maria and Alton Horne of South Gate. "The others (relatives) have had their share and more," Mrs. Breen wrote. The balance of the estate, approximately $40,000 would go to President Roosevelt.
Mrs. Anderson contends that the deceased died intestate and the estate should be divided among a number of members of the family.

Uniform Laws for Harbor Control Planned by Boards
Seeking to promote greater efficiency in the control of Newport Harbor through uniform regulations members of the Newport City council, board of supervisors, the city and county planning commissions and the Orange county harbor committee met early this week to plan for a series of conferences that may eventually bring about the desired result.
The supervisors named Chairman Willis H. Warner of Huntington Beach and Supervisor Irvin George Gordon of Newport as their representatives to draw up the proposed uniform regulations for the harbor.
Enforcement of regulations have been made extremely difficult in the past because part of the harbor is controlled by the city and part by the county. County Councilman Joel E. Ogle suggested regulations should control police duties, and land use and water use in the harbor area. This would eliminate all conflicts between the two governing bodies, he added.

General’s Stars Sold as Souvenirs
SANTA ANA—What happens to a general's old stars?
Well, sometimes they go to the auction block. When Mrs. H. H. (Hap) Arnold visited Santa Ana Army Air Base this week, it was learned that there was quite a bit of discussion as to the disposition of her husband's old stars when he donned the new insignia of a General of the Army recently.
However, the matter was solved by one of the bright young men of AAF headquarters. They auctioned them off as souvenirs.
The money, of course, went to an Army charity.
