There is no way of knowing. Actually, about 60 per cent of all American airmen shot down over enemy territory survive—as prisoners of war. Some prison camps are devoted exclusively to airmen. But these camps are little different from the others. In all, the men behind the barbed wire live the same empty life. There is nothing to do but wait — wait — and try to hold on to your sanity while you wait.
