CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
"Life" will be the subject of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. The Golden Text is from I John: "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."
In a selection from John's Gospel, Jesus comforted his disciples with these words: "When . . . the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: . . . A little while, and ye shall not see me: . . . because I go to the Father. . . I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. . . Father, . . glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: . . . And this is life eternal, that they might know the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:" "'This is life eternal,' says Jesus—is not shall be; and then he defines everlasting life as a present knowledge of his Father and of himself,—the knowledge of Love, Truth, and Life."

Ewald Lemcke Gives History Of Outfall Sewer
President C. George Hedstrom conducted the Rotary club meeting Monday noon for the first time since his recent installation as president of the club. The meeting was held at the Parker House cafe club dining room on account of the Elks club cafe being closed for two weeks vacation.
Program Chairman H. P. Happgood introduced Ewald Lemcke, member of the Anaheim Kiwanis club and maintenance engineer for the outfall sewer system, who gave the history of the development of the modern method of sewage disposal.
Lempke traced the sewer system development from 800 B.C. when the first record of underground drainage for this purpose appears, down through the ages, including reference to the famous catacombs of Paris, built in the 14th century and often referred to by Victor Hugo. Forerunners of the present modern systems were successfully used in England as early as 1850, the speaker said.
The outfall system which now serves Anaheim and other Orange county cities, was originally constructed in 1921, and rebuilt in 1940, and has been one of the most successful projects of its kind in the country. The speaker gave detailed statistical data on the operation of the system and disposing of the waste matter, which, he said, is 99.9 percent water.
