Notice is hereby given pursuant to the provisions of Section 3340 of the Civil Code of the State of California, that G. O. Payne, intends to sell to Oliver W. Eager all that certain personal property consisting generally of Grocery, Fruit and Vegetable Merchandise "Only" of a Grocery, Fruit and Vegetable business, known as Payne's Penny Market, belonging to said G. O. Payne and John J. Bircher Passes Away
John J. Bircher, 81, a resident of Anaheim since 1919, passed away early Thursday morning at Leonard Sanitarium. He was born in Berns, Switzerland but came to the United States 75 years ago.
He is survived by six sons; Albert H. and Harold of Anaheim, Walter of Kansas, Clarence of Placentia and Louis of Westminster; three daughters, Mrs. Edna Mills and Mrs. Pearl Burdick of Anaheim and Mrs. Tillie Gorton of Santa Ana; 24 grandchildren and one great grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Lena Lessener of Anaheim.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars funeral chapel at 10 o'clock Saturday morning.

Qualifying Army Navy Tests To Be Given November 9
The Army and Navy College Qualifying Test will be administered at the Anaheim Union High School at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 9. This test is for men between the ages of 17 and 22, who are high school graduates or who will graduate from high school by March 1, 1944. The purpose of the test is to select men for the college training program known as the V- and A-12 (Army) program wishing to qualify for have attained their 17th their 20th birthday by 1944. Those who wish program must have attained their 17th but not their 22nd by March 1, 1944.

Free Methodists To Have Revival Soon
A Spiritual Victory Campaign is announced by James B. Abbott, pastor of the Free Methodist Church, Broadway and Clementine Sts., beginning next Monday night. Rev. Loyson Burnett of Glendale is the evangelist engaged for these services. Some of the subjects to be presented by the Glendale clergyman are — "They Say It Can't Be Done," "The Meanest Thief in Anaheim," "The King of Fools," "Three of A Kind," "Neglected Opportunities" and "Life's Greatest question." Services will be held each evening at 7:30 except Saturday. The evangelist was pastor at Glendale, Arizona for four years until taking up his present work at the Glendale, Calif. church. All are invited to have a part in this series of meetings.
Navy Mother’s Club Installs Officers
Impressive ceremonies marked the installation of officers of the Navy Mother’s club last night at the Anaheim Legion hall with 150 attending. Installing officer was Mrs. Lois Mandy of Santa Ana. Following the ceremonies Mrs. Emma Heckman, commander, took the chair and presided over the business meeting that followed.
Officers installed were Mrs. Emma Heckman, commander; Mrs. Laura Tyreman, first vice-commander; Mrs. Hazel Loudon, second vice-commander; Mrs. Florence Smith, adjutant; Mrs. Agnes Hund, finance officer; Mrs. Edna Wisser, chaplain; Mrs. Jean Marvin, Judge Advocate; Mrs. Irene Pierpoint and Mrs. Netty E. Chamberlain, Majorette-at-arms; Mrs. Vera Baum and Mrs. Grace Planting, color bearers.
Mrs. Mandy was assisted during the installation by Chief S. A. Cockran, Santa Ana Navy Recruiting office; Louis Sohmers, aviation machinist mate, second class and Martha Robbins, specialist in the Waves.
Guests for the evening included Mrs. Erma Soest, commander of the Santa Ana Navy Mother’s club; Mayor Charles Pearson, R.W. Marvin, representing the Kiwanis club, C.P.Mallin, Orange County Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Frank Moreno, Commander of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mrs. Minnie Ragan, President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Mrs. Nora Dodge, president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Mrs. Harriet Boyd, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and Charles Griffith, representing the American Legion.
New members taken into the Burdin and Dorthea Schutz Four fathers also joined including Robert Marvin, Morris Thaxton, Clyde C. Jackson and Ellis Gaddis.
Mrs. M.P. Thaxton reported that twenty-five applications for housing have been made by service men since September 5 and that quarters for all but two have been found. Mrs. Heckman chairman of the hospital committee reported that supplies have been taken to the hospitals at Camp Pendleton and Norco. Cookies and candy will be furnished the hospitals at Thanksgiving time and those desiring to contribute are asked to contact Mrs. Heckman. Sugar nd chortening will be arranged for.
Mrs. Monty Webb and Mrs. Halle Bush were named chairman of a new sewing project that will be for the purpose of side bags and slippers at Pendleton and Marvin.
