Anahelm 2123 Unmasking The (Continued from page 6) SOME CLAIM Some claim that when you are sick it is just imagination on your part. Believe in the power of spirit over matter and if your belief is strong enough you will not be brothered with such trifles as headaches, toothache, stomachache, etc. If you have a severe cold or acid stomach and have an awful morning after ease, you can overcome that without the Spirit's help, just take an Alkaseltzer. Some people will not eat pork because some Jew said it was unclean. (perhaps he raised beef.) Did God ever make anything unclean? The same applies to the eating of meat on Friday. It has no religious significance whatsoever. It may be good to abstain from eating meat for your health's sake since in a while, but why on Friday? By obeying all these man-made laws you prove that someone dominates your thinking aptus for reasons beneficial to that party. SOMEONE SAYS Someone says: What is the writers objective? Well I'll tell you We all know that the church is very inefficient in the accomplishment of what it stands for. They cover this shortcoming they make the claim that all the accomplishments of science, the advantages of education, the institutions of mercy, etc., are the results of the Christian religion. When a man asks forgiviness that many times it does not reveal much since on his part, it really is more on inducement to keep up wrong doing. We can be thankful that Courts of Justice do not allow the biblical method of dealing with criminals, if they did, it would just too bad for the welfare society. Third, the method: It seem have been necessary for God have several wrongs committed make this plan of redemption complete. There was the harm of the Jews, the miscarriage Justice, the denial of Peter and betrayal of Judas. If these necessary factors then the parapants should be honored exalted for their obedience God, otherwise this plan would not have been possible. NE SAYS One says: What is the writtive? Well I'll tell you. Know that the church is efficient in the accomplishment what it stands for. To this shortcoming they make him that all the accomplishment science, the advantages institution, the institutions of etc., are the results of the religion. That may be a small extent, how about who are looked upon as but have the same accounts without our religihy make false claims or yourself what is not so? Writer who is a poor man have as much right in that you cannot force your opinions upon others as "The Truth" without proof. Take the story of Jesus: His miraculous birth: We have four miraculous birth records in the Bible. Isaac's, Sampson's, John's and Jesus'. Isaac's birth was more miraculous than Jesus' because Sara was past the child bearing period. Not so with Mary. According to Matthew Chap. 1. Joseph was Jesus' real father as the geneology of Joseph is given as Jesus'. Then it states that Jesus was in all respects like we are, that must include His birth, if not, then the Bible makes a false record. He was tempted like we are so he could not have been God as it states in scripture that God cannot be tempted. He prayed to God as to a second person. There being only one God we have to reject the two God idea. God the creator of all made a complete job in the beginning. By His grace we are endowed with the ability to sin and quit sinning and unless we do and God's supposed Plan of Redemption will avail you nothing. Its up to you and you alone to be better. The church's mission is to make bad men good and good men better, if possible. Why burden people with so many non essentials. GOOD SALESMEN If preachers were good salesmen they would be able to picture the Christian life so desirable because of its benefits that only irrational people would reject it. Most of them cannot overcome the sales resistance of practical people so they have to put all their effort in making little children join the church who really know nothing as to what it is all about. Their credulity is taken advantage of when it asks for bread, but in the great famines of India, Russia and other countries, God allows millions to die of starvation. They pray to Him for bread. He leaves them to die. Is it not so? If God blesses, who curses? If God saves, who damns? If God helps who harms? If God created Everything then He must also shoulder all blame. A rational person knows that only man helps man, only man pities, only man saves. They tell us prayer changeth things, if so, why have not the billions of prayers made a noticeable change in man's relation to man? I say, only action changeth things. Prayer in itself is very ineffectual. HEART AND CENTER We are told that the heart and center of the Christian religion is: The belief in the virgin birth, the crucification, the resurrection and the Second coming of Christ. On this belief it stands or falls. My rational understanding is that the real heart and center of Christ' teaching was and is: "Peace on earth and good Will towards men." In other words, not another religion, but changed lives. This to be exemplified and made a positive Influence for Good by "Love" (Vitamin A. B. C.) and Service (Vitamin X. Y. Z.) Paul in corroboration says: "If I have all kinds of effectual faith and have not "Love" I am Nothing. It is too bad that the bribe of Heaven and the threat of Hell has to be restored to, to scare unthinking people into the belief of many unnatural Bible stories. The world of today needs a Church that is the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world," to prevent the decay of society and reveal the true condition of man's relation to man. Is the church up to par in this respect? Not so you could notice it. You know as well as I do that the only requirements for good membership standing is: vis join, make ORPHANAGE BENEFIT Anaheim Masonic lodge gives its annual Orphanage Benefit banquet May 29 with a special guest, Mirandy of radio fame be on the program. John Bedford and his committee who arrange charge of the event urge Masons and friends who plan to attend to make reservations by May 27. ST. AGNES GUILD Final plans for the annual benefit tea to be given Saturday, 23 will be made at the regime meeting of St. Agnes Guild at home of Miss Adah Wilcox South Dickel street next Wad day night. PAST MASTERS MEET All past masters of the Anas Masonic lodge will join with ent members and officers Mast at the lodge hall. A 6:30 dawn will precede the evening's festies. MARINER'S CLUB Colored films showing Oregon, Washington, Canada Alaska highlighted the Marin club program last week at First Presbyterian social hall C. O. Patterson, who showed films, supplemented his talk a display of rocks and curio. A delicious home cooked owas served before thy prairie. Decorations of roses sweetpeas were arranged by John Knutzen. In charge of dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Choate. Community singing by Arval Morris with Mrs. George at the piano added to the evening. Jimmy Jay sang several solos to the group. CHURCH EMPHASIZES Church emphasizes "mere every strongly and the "do every little. The writer is in the harmony with Paul's to the Cor. Chap. 13 where it merates many accomplishments but calls them "Nothing" have not "Love." By that He means that kind of love expressed in the "Golden A few comments with rejoice the supposed "Plan of for the redemption of man's an unprejudiced mind conflit according to the Bible. Narrative has many uses and we are asked to be that two or more "Wrongs in a Right." First God is led as blood thirsty and His own law. According to 24, 16, "Every man shall be death for his own sins." In plan He makes an innocent lie for the crimes of the Would you or our Courts notice do it? What would your sons be if they did. Whyitate God? VICTIM: Suddenly: The victim who may innocent. The shedding of land all other injuctices (like) perpretrated upon the vicory out for justice and protection. But God seems to say: "I worry that you have to suffer, that is all I can do about it. A loving and foregiving ear and am much concerned the welfare of the offender. I want you to be like I am forgive the offender not only but seventy times seven if he asks for forgiveness many times, this will be manly upon you." When a man writer who is a poor man have as much right in going to be a millionaire by arms with Henry Ford as church has a right to claim use advantages by linking with science. Give credit credit is due. As far as I Christianity has not even captured a headache pill in the aid of Science. THE QUESTIONAIR A supplement and re capitulation of the foregoing article, to induce you to think rationally and logically. It is a fact which cannot be denied that religion has long had a compelling grip on the human mind and can only be accounted for because of primitive man's dread of the unknown. No matter how hard man has tried to solve this question of the "unknown" he is still in the drk and always will be. From time immemorable there have been men possessed with a mercenary trend of mind who have cashed in on the ignorance and credulity of the average human in regard to the "Unknown." This is one basic reason why all sorts of religions have been hatched out for the domination and exploitation of the common herd. Is it not so? In re: the Christian religion. This is based on the assumption that the Bible is the Word of God in which God reveals himself to man. All honest people admit that no one has ever seen or heard the God of the Bible, therefore all descriptions of Him are mere conceptions or imaginations of men. Why is the Bible called the Word of God? You got me there.—The Catholic church determined the authenticity of the Bible and "Word of God?" I'd like to know on what higher authority they dared make such claim and what proof they can produce for this assertion. The Bible is like most history books giving us true and false reports. Most pulpit orators present to us the better side of the people described in its pages and if some things are ugly of report well a little whitewash, rouge and lip stick will perform the miracle of making angels or near angels out of rascals. Take the story of David as an example. Reading the Psalms you think him "a man after God's heart," accord- THE WORLD OF TODAY The mechanism and performance of the institutionalized Christian Church of today reminds me of the performance of some Autos. It wheezes, coughs spits and sometimes it makes that soft purr of good performance, but gets nowhere by itself. If the church tries to get somewhere it often makes the mistake of putting unqualified drivers behind the church steering wheel. (Such as selfish intolerant decons, S. S. supt. etal.) They are intoxicated with egotistical bigotry. Entering the highway of spiritual activity they fail to realize that on this highway common sense and reason have the right of way and to think they can practice intolerance and self-will regardless of others is to cause many collisions detrimental to themselves and others. It is not my purposes in writing this article to discourage you from going to church. There are more or less advantages, for instance, you hear good music, far better than jazz. You meet your friends and perhaps make new acquaintances. You notice the ladies' new dresses and hats giving you a topic to talk about. In addition you hear the Minister interpret or misinterpret old moldy Bible stories which you have known most of your life. These interpretations merely being the Minister's own ideas uttered in such a way that it will keep you in line with the church programme. Perhaps you are like the majority who do not know what the Minister talked about as soon as they leave the church edifice. In any event, if you have listened to all you will C. O. Patterson, who showed films, supplemented his talks a display of rocks and curious A delicious home cooked o was served before the pro hour. Decorations of roses sweetpeas were arranged by John Knutzen. In charge of dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Choate. Community singing by Arval Morris with Mrs. George at the piano added to the evening. Jimmy Jay sang eral solos to the group. ST. BONIFACE PTA Mrs. O. W Haying, re president of St. Boniface PTA honored at an election and memoration Mother's day ing of that group Friday noon. Miss Evelyn Bevins, grade student, presented Heying with a beautiful basket of Talisman roses fitting tribute to a mother from Sisters of the school. Becoming new officers after nominating committee report been accepted were Mrs. Larson, president; Mrs. O Lawrence, vice president William Bushman, record retary; Mrs. Frank Paley financial secretary; Mrs. Daly, treasurer; Mrs. Stephie lagher, historian; Mrs. To Bride, parliamentarian; and Lawrence Muckenthaler, au perpetrated upon the vicinity out for justice and protection. But God seems to say: "I worry that you have to suffer, what is all I can do about it. For a loving and foregiving father and am much concerned with the welfare of the offender. I want you to be like I am forgive the offender not only but seventy times seven a day if he asks for forgiveness many times, this will be manly upon you." When a man foregiviness that many times does not reveal much sincerity is part, it really is more of an argument to keep up wrongdoing. We can be thankful that our sins of Justice do not adopt biblical method of dealing with criminals, if they did, it would be too bad for the welfare of society. The method: It seems to be been necessary for God to several wrongs committed to give this plan of redemption complete. There was the hatred of the Jews, the miscarriage of peace, the denial of Peter and the royal of Judas. If these were necessary factors then the participants should be honored and need for their obedience to them otherwise this plan would have been possible. Does it give you the creeps to be combed to believe that there was no other than this abominable way? CONCLUSION The conclusion let me state that no nor mine or the imagination the writers of the Bible will bridge the Truth. The truth is that no one has ever conversed with God in an audible voice and the awful conceptions that others had of God are repulsive to them do not believe their stories. Have no positive proof of theological stories as authorized by Jesus. Accept them as historical facts if you want to but remember proof they can produce for this assertion. The Bible is like most history books giving us true and false reports. Most pulpit orators present to us the better side of the people described in its pages and if some things are ugly of report well a little whitewash, rouge and lip stick will perform the miracle of making angels or near angels out of rascals. Take the story of David as an example. Reading the Psalms you think him "a man after God's heart," according to Paul's description. When you read his history with an unprejudiced mind, you will find him to be a liar,—cruel and inhuman in the superlative. Read how he treated the people of Rabbah after his army conquered them, putting them under saws and under harrows of iron and under axes of iron and made them pass through red hot brick kilns, etc. Remember about his crime against Bathsheba and her husband? Also take notice of the unrepenting condition of his heart on his deathbed when he asks his son Solomon to murder Joab and Shimei so that he might have his revenge. FACTUAL HISTORY Read the factual history of Moses, Aaron, Elijah, Abraham and others, all being liars, murderers, thieves, worthy objects to adorn any rogues gallery. It is shocking to read the description of God in the Old Testament. He is cruel, unjust, immoral, easily angered, not all knowing because he had to come down to see for Himself with reference to the building of the Tower of Babel and other instances too numerous to mention. FULL OF LOVE He is described as a heavenly Father, full of love and compassion towards His creation. Surpassing an earthly father who would not give his child a stone topic to talk about. In any event, if you have listened to all you will get some kernels of good grain. Plant these in the soil of your mind and heart and allow them to produce good fruit for yours and others benefit. (Exceptions to all rules.) The thought has come to me that it might be a good thing for some Ministers to abdicate and let Mahatma Gandhi try and evangelize church members. It might lessen our desire for war. Having adopted this original and novel way of presentation to get your attention, I hope to have been successful to some extent in emancipating your mind from the shackles of the supernatural (unnatural) and also in straightening out some of the kinks in your thinking apparatus which kidded you into believing that you were almost a saint, when it is very noticeable to the rest of us that you are nothing but an egotistical bigot who makes claims of superior goodness on the strength of the Bibles' say so, regardless of facts. If my endeavor to stimulate you to think, has been successful, drop me a line. If I have stepped on your tail, well — just "bark." It will convince us that you do not like to face the truth." Hope the following does not apply to you: A man (fool) convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still. PAUL S. MEYER, 424 E. Adele Street, Anaheim, California. HANAGE BENEFIT Anaheim Masonic lodge will hold its annual Orphanage Benefitquet May 29 with a special Mirandy of radio fame, to the program. John Beeson this committee who are in charge of the event urge Masons friends who plan to attend take reservations by May 26. AGNES GUILD Annual plans for the annual benefiesta to be given Saturday, May will be made at the regular meeting of St. Agnes Guild at the site of Miss Adah Wilcox on Dickel street next Wednesday night.
