Claudina, Anahelm 2123 Three Anaheim Residents Pass Away Bringing Sorrow To City This Week (Montued from Page 1) Monday at the Santa Fe Springs cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars, Anaheim. WALTER B. DUFF Walter B. Duff passed away early last Thursday morning at the family home at the corner of Crescent and Grand aves., northwest of Anaheim after an extended illness. A native of Mississippi and resident of the county for 10 years, he is survived by two sons, Daniel Alfred of Oxnard and Walter H. of Buena Park; two daughters, Mrs. John VanAlustine and Mrs. Walter Scott, both of Buena Park; four brothers, A. D. Duff and Joe of Oklahoma, Frank and Osgood of Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Etta Bowlby and Mrs. Bessie Cassity, both of Texas and six grandchildren. He was a member of the Methodist church in Stafford, Okla. Funeral services were conducted from the Hilgenfeld's mortuary. GOTTLIEB MEGER Last rites for Gottlieb Meger, 91, a native of Poland who died last Wednesday night at an Anaheim rest home, were conducted Saturday morning at the Hilgenfeld mortuary. A resident of Anaheim for 39 years, he is survived by four sons and seven daughters, the following living in Anaheim and vicinity: Rudolph and Theodore; Mrs. Arthur Hemmerling and the Misses Emma and Lydia. Another daughter, Mrs. William Everett, resides in Torrence, and a son, Otto, in Culver City. Rev. H. G. Dymmel, pastor of Bethel Baptist church, officiated at the services with burial in the family plot in Anaheim cemetery. Fullerton Still Wants To Leave Eastern Conference; Appeals Case Still interested in withdrawing from the Eastern Conference even after their rebuff at the hands of league officials recently, Fullerton junior college was moving again today to reopen their case following presentation by Superintendent Frederick T. Chamberlen of recent correspondence concerning proselytizing to the board of trustees at a meeting Monday. Further steps to control the touchy athletic situation, already aggravated by the so-called confer-ence "purity code" and by Fullerton's unsuccessful attempt to withdraw from the conference Dec. 1, were suggested by Dr. Nicholas Ricciardi, president of San Bernardino jaysee: "Trustees of San Bernardino junior college would be interested in a conference of trustees of the junior colleges in the Eastern division devoted to a serious consideration of practical ways and means of controlling proselytizing," the letter stated. California’s Share of Tax Burden $1,600,000,000 Next Fiscal Year Federal tax bill for $1,600,000,-000 for the coming fiscal year will be California's share of the national $26,600,000,000 tax program proposed by the President in his budget message, the California Taxpayers' association said today. National taxes in effect today expected to bring into the Federal Treasury, $17,600,000,000 in 1942-43, according to the President's message. In addition to these taxes, the President asks that Congress levy new taxes to bring in $7,000,000,000 and increased social security levies to raise an additional $2,000,000,000. In total, the national tax bill would amount to $26,600,000,000. California's share conservatively estimated at six per cent of the total, would be $1,600,000,000.
