Tasca's "Sistine Madonna"
Farm Price Rise Unlike War No. 1
While farm prices are rising a manner reminiscent of the surg during World War I, prices for individual corps are not lowing the same pattern today cording to Dr. J. M. Tinley, Division of Agricultural Economics University of California.
Between March and September 1941, Dr. Tinley points out that farm prices increased 35 per cent Unlike World War I, how this jump in price is being leached cotton, meat products, dairy ducts and poultry instead of grains, the price leaders of last war.
VEGETABLES LAGGING
Prices of vegetables and fruits are lagging behind, just as did during 1916-18.
Contrary to much popular opinion, said the University of Fornia economist, prices of products as a group were not first to rise during World War II.
CHEMICALS, DRUGS
Chemicals and drugs, hide leather products, fuel and lighting, metals and metal products led the parade until the second half of 1916 when prices for farm products began to rise idly. When farm prices began rise, they moved upward at more rapid rate than most commodities, Dr. Tinley's analysis showed.

TO REMAIN on display in the Anaheim Public library until Easter, the above painting by Fausto Tasca, Southern California artist who died in 1937, was taken from a direct copy of Raphael's "Sistine Madonna," one of the world's masterpieces of art originally created in 1515. The display is through the courtesy of Louis Gagliardi of Los Angeles, friend and patron of Tasca, who exhibits his art collection gratis to Southland art lovers.

Reproduced in 1933 by Fausto Tasca, Southern California artist of wide acclaim, a lifesize copy of Raphael's famed "Sistine Madonna" is on display at the Anaheim Public library today, to remain there until Easter through the courtesy of Louis Gagliardi, Los Angeles art collector.
Commissioned by Gagliardi to copy the famous masterpiece created by Raphael in 1515, Tasca reproduced the painting on canvas over six feet by four feet. Tasca passed away in 1937, and Gagliardi has since exhibited the painting, along with others of his collection, free of charge to libraries and schools in the Southland.

Sportcaster Frank Bull will give the play-by-play account of all games originating in Los Angeles which are to be released over station KPAS, Pasadena 1110 kcys). The first game scheduled to be aired will be the opening Pacific Coast Conference contest at Los Angeles between USLA and USC tomorrow evening.

1067 Truck Owners Have Not Reported
Today, owners of 1067 buses and trucks in Orange county have not yet forwarded to the Department of Motor Vehicles the information about their vehicles the Department is collecting for a survey of emergency transportation being conducted at the request of the War Department.
Purpose of the survey is to determine what transportation would be available in case it should become necessary to evacuate the civilian population or in an other emergency.
The Department of Motor Vehicles estimates that inventory has been of 85 per cent of the 7,-111 registered in Orange county through questionnaires filled out and returned to the department by the local owners.
Alcoholic Beverages Banned For Soldiers
In effect today throughout the state is an order issued through the State Board of Equalization instructing all alcoholic beverage licensees to refrain from selling alcoholic beverages to anyone in the military uniform of the US Army an dthe State Guard at all hours with the exception of those between 6 and 10 p.m.

Bar Association Aids Bond Campaign
Effective immediately, machinery set up by the State Bar to assist the US Navy will also be voted to the sales campaign behalf of US Defense Bonds Stamps and the drive of the merican Red Cross, according spokesman today who announce the purchase by the association $10,000 in Defense Bonds for benefit of its reserve fund.
The announcement was made A. T. Shine, treasurer of the S bar who at the same time suggested that other organizations may faining reserve funds could aid the war effort by doing likewise.

Farmers can avoid the income blues by having complete records on their income, expenses depreciation on buildings and equipment at their elbows when make out their tax returns, leading to the Agricultural Extension Service today.
The amount each farmer must depends upon his net income his gross income determines either or not he must file a re-With his personal return the farmer may file a farm schedule which he shows his income sale of farm products, depreciation on buildings equipment. If he wishes, he file a return and schedule for record year beginning on the end of some other month than January.
Some tax return for 1941 must be made out within the next few months from such records asthe farmer has available, but he also need be thinking about adoption thoroughly efficient system of records for 1942.
Farmers Recommend Water Control
Meeting recently in Santa Ana Orange County Agriculturalomic conference including Ober J. A. Baker of Anaheim, ordered and unanimously approved the following water and control measures pertinent the county:
