FJC Petitions For Place In Western Athletic League
Continued from page 1
"Western conference schools operate under no such hampering regulations and Fullerton, which must draw students from the same high schools, cannot compete with them under present conditions," Art Nunn, FJC physical education director, said.
"Fullerton trustees particularly object to that Eastern conference provision which pledges members to 'eliminate all soliciting of athletes by those not connected with the college, or organizations of citizen groups interested in athletics,'" Chemberlen emphasized.
"The provision is obviously unworkable since it pledges schools to give orders to the community without authority.
State Jaysee Football At Stake As Dons
With the mythical state junior college football championship the block tomorrow night, Santa Ana jaysee Dons face San Mateo Bulldogs in the Santa Ana Municipal bowl.
Both squads cleared their stakes for the game last week when Santa Ana finished off the Fullerton Hornets, 6-0, at the Munich bowl Thanksgiving day, and Mateo turned back a favored ramenta jaysee eleven, 9-6. The team has suffered one non-coincidence loss: The Dons bowling Pasadena jaysee, and the Bulls losing a close one to the champion Standford Frosh squad.

State Jaysee Football Championship Stake As Dons Play San Mateo
With the mythical state junior football championship on block tomorrow night, the Ana jaysee Dons face the Mateo Bulldogs in the Santa Municipal bowl.
Both squads cleared their slates in the game last week when San Ana finished off the Fullertonets, 6-0, at the Municipal Thanksgiving day, and San Ana turned back a favored Sacramento jaysee eleven, 9-6. Each has suffered one non-conferral loss; The Dons bowing to Adena jaysee, and the Bulldogs going a close one to the champion Frosh squad.
Although the Santa Ana-Mateo tomorrow night was not orignally scheduled as a championship match, but as a regular contest, by coincidence the two teams rolled through undefeated seasons.
Attendance estimates on the Don-Hornet game in Santa Ana Thanksgiving, released today, place the crowd in attendance at 15,000. Gate receipts were $5870.15, the largest in the history of football at the Municipal bowl.
In their respective conferences.
Dons who figure in Coach Bill Cook's plans of attack are triple threater Joe Margucci, hero of the Santa Ana-Fullerton game, Center LeRoy Littlejohn, and Ends Eaul Cleary and Ev Winkler. Winkler caught Bill Gulley's touchdown pass in the Don-Hornet encounter last week.
NO COMMON FOE
Neither the Dons or San Mateo have played a common opponent, although Santa Ana is given a slight edge over the visitors by virtue of position in national jaysee ratings.
Lee Havener Given Frosh Council Post On USC Campus
Freshman council, student governing organization at the University of Southern California, today included Lee Havener, former graduate of Anaheim Union high school, following a recent university campus election.
Havener is majoring in commerce at USC and is a member of Race Trials Sunday At San Luis Rey For 50 Yearlings
Tenth annual running of speed trials to test the two-year-old crop for 1942 racing will be held Sunday at the Ranch San Luis Rey, 18 miles east of Oceanside on the Pala Mission highway. Racing will start promptly at 10 a.m.
According to operators of the ranch, these trials take on the character of a bona-fide day of racing, and the public is invited to witness the first running of approximately 50 yearlings.
Rancho San Luis Rey is one of the oldest thoroughbred breeding farms in California, having bred, raised, and trained hundreds of race horses that are now making history all over the United States.
In addition to the racing schedule, guests will be shown through the breeding farm, with time out for a free barbeque and refreshments.
In Uncle Sam's Navy all seamen can buy cigarettes, candy and ice cream from the "Canteen" at practically cost price.
Lee Havener Given Fresh Council Post On USC Campus
Freshman council, student governing organization at the University of Southern California, today included Lee Havener, former graduate of Anaheim Union high school, following a recent university campus election.
Havener is majoring in commerce at USC and is a member of the Delta Sigma Pho social fraternity.
First duties of the freshman council, it was stated, will be to supervise the freshman class in the annual frosh-soph brawl and to select the freshman class queen.
Two mayors cheaper than one—and the town's troubles vanish. When opposing candidates came out even in the election, both took office without pay and kept right on mayoring when their term was up to save election expenses.
Read of this simple way of curing municipal headaches, as told in the American Weekly, the magazine distributed with next week's LOS ANGELES EXAMINER—Adv.
