FRIENDS HONOR OLIVERS WITH WEDDING SHOWER
Miss Freda Oliver of 1416 W. Center St. and Donald Wooten of 416 W. Claudina St. were married in Yuma, Ariz., recently by the Rev. MacAlpin.
Miss Oliver is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Oliver of Heavener, Okla., and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Wooten of Anaheim.
The bride wore a dark green traveling dress. Mrs. Dorothy Wooten in a black ensemble and Floyd Wooten were the only attendants.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Wooten were educated out of state, Mr. Wooten in Texas and Mrs. Wooten in Oklahoma.
They will make their home in Anaheim.
The couple was honored at a wedding shower Monday evening at the home of the bridegroom's parents.
Those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. N. S. Wooten, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Wimberley, Mr. and Mrs. Avery Wimberley, Rev. and Mrs. W. I. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Damie Hooker and Mrs. Dorothy Wooten.
NIELSENS ENJOY CELEBRATION WITH NINE CHILDREN
SCHOOL OF FINE ARTS PRESENTS PUBLIC RECITAL
The Orange County School of Fine Arts presented a public recital at the high school auditorium Saturday evening.
Members of the school's faculty include Kate E. McCullah, Imogene Jerome and Katherine McCullah, piano; Lois Rees Auer, drama; and Katherine McCullah, nursery school.
The recital began with the playing of the national anthem followed by musical and dramatic episodes on Mozart, Schubert, Chopin and Stephen Foster. These began with a biography of the composer followed by a group of his most famous compositions. Next on the program was "Overture" from William Tell by Rossini and "Concerto" in B flat minor, first movement by Tschalkowsky.
Honor awards were presented and then the Anaheim Drum and Bugle Corps played the "Maple Leaf March," "Pledge of Allegiance" and the "1345 March". The last numbers were "There'll Always Be an England" and "I Am an American" sung by the chorus.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF ENGAGEMENT TOLD AT SHOWER PARTY
A handkerchief shower for Mrs. Phil Strickland, nee Edith Turner, of Fullerton, who left Wednesday morning for Canada, turned out to be a surprise announcement shower for Miss Virginia Atwell at her parents' home, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Atwell of 536 W. Indiana St., last Tuesday evening.
Miss Atwell will marry Bob Fowler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Fowler of 531 Indiana St., November 9 at the Anaheim Presbyterian church.
A buffet supper was served and during the dessert course lovely gardenia corsages with announcement cards attached with white ribbon told the happy news.
Decorations were arrangements of gay colors of fall flowers on the dinner table and through the home.
Those who attended were school friends from Fullerton Junior College of both Miss Atwell and Mrs. Strickland. They were Jean and Joan Cody, Evelyn Redfern, Mrs Betty Hargrove, Mrs Peggy Markley, Mrs Helen Roquez Erlene Rickett, Ruth Herron, Marius Eberhart, June Atwell, sister of Virginia; Mrs. Forrest Fowler mother of the bridegroom-to-be and Mrs. Atwell.

NIELSENS ENJOY CELEBRATION WITH NINE CHILDREN
Nine brothers and sisters joined together with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Peter Nielsen of Lincoln Ave., Friday to celebrate the Nielsen's golden wedding anniversary.
It was the family's second complete reunion in its history and the celebration was highlighted with an open-house affair from afternoon to evening when dozens of friends came to greet the couple.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Nielsen are natives of Denmark and were married in their home state, Nebraska, October 17, f891. The bride was the former Karen Johanna Frandsen, born in Varde, Denmark in 1870, Mr. Nielsen was born in Hjorring, Denmark, October 9, 1864. Following their marriage, they moved to Lexington in Nebraska and it was there that all of their children were born.
The Nielsens have lived in Anaheim since 1926 and received many gifts from their friends in this community. Old friends in Nebraska also sent gifts and felicitations.
At Friday's celebration, Mrs. Nielsen wore an afternoon dress and a corsage bouquet. Her daughters and daughter-in-law assisted her in serving a decorated wedding cake and coffee.

Trio Celebrate Birthdays at Same Party
Three birthdays were celebrated Thursday evening at the R. W. Dickenson home on Loara Rd. The honored guests were Donald Dickenson, son of the hosts, Floyd Benson and his daughter, Winona.
The two families have been celebrating these birthdays for three years in succession. Mrs. Dickenson served a turkey dinner upon a table decorated with a low bowl of orange pom-pom dahlias which was balanced on each side by orange candles in glass holders.
The evening was spent in playing ping pong and in visiting.
Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Benson of Anaheim with daughters, Esther, who is a student at Pasadena Junior College, and Winona; Lt. and Mrs. Lee Benson, son and daughter-in-law of the Bensons, of Camp Callan, San Diego; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dickenson, and the hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Dickenson.

Daughters of Union Veterans Have Fullerton Meeting
Members belonging to the JuWard Howe Tent No. 7,Daughter of Union Veterans of the Civil War met Monday noon at the Ebell Clubhouse in Fullerton for potluck dinner and for the annual homecoming day.
Nearly 50 persons attended with three sons of veterans being special guests.
During the business meeting plans were made for a bazaar before Armistice Day and a luncheon counter sponsored by the group on the holiday.

Fresno Visitors Honored at Park Picnic
Friends from Fullerton, Santa Ana and Anaheim honored Fresno visitors, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Aldrich, at a picnic Sunday at the Anaheim City Park.
The guests attending were all formerly from Minnesota. They included Mr. and Mrs. Jim Waite and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Peters of Santa Ana; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dorn and daughter, Marjorie, of Fullerton; Mr. and Mrs. A. Sorg and Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Finnegan and daughter, Janet Marie, of Anaheim.
After a picnic dinner, the group adjourned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Finnegan of 614 N. Clemen-tine St. The evening was spent in visiting and the honored guests related the celebration of their Golden Wedding Anniversary in July. The Aldriches are the uncle and aunt of Mrs. Finnegan.
VFW Auxiliary Plans "Guest Night"

Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary met at the Odd Fellows' Hall Thursday night and planned several events on their October and November calendar.
The first affair was a sewing circle meeting at the home of Mrs. Roy Tyreman on 921 N. Sabina St. last night. It was also announced at the auxiliary meeting by the president, Mrs. Therasa Hassler, that there will be a second district breakfast at Elsinore next Sunday. On November 6, the group will have its annual "guest night."
At the meeting, plans were made to attend Sawtelle hospital this afternoon. Mrs. Agnes Hund was appointed as chairman for Red Cross work.
In charge of refreshments at the meeting were Mrs. Myrtle Mallen and Miss Minnie Reagon.
Twenty-two members attended and guests came from Santa Ana and Fullerton.
Members of Bible Club at Retreat
Seven members of the high school Meteri Bible Club attended the annual fall retreat at Camp Bethel in San Dimas Canyon last week-end.
More than a dozen Southern California clubs were represented at the retreat, which featured banquets, services, hikes and group singing.
Anaheim girls who were present were Phyllis Hamann, Wilma Schiffer, Imogene Gust, Lorraine Fleishmann, Elsie Eymann, Marietta Maas and Ruth Mackey.
Spanish Missionary Speaks at Dorcas Society Meeting
Alfred Saez, Spanish missionary from Santa Ana, was the chief speaker at the meeting of the Z Lutheran Dorcas Society Thursday afternoon. He spoke on South American and United States missions.
The business session was led by Mrs. A. Dutzi, president. Plans were made for a Men's Club dinner tonight and for another dinner November 3, sponsored by the Folks' home auxiliary.
The November committee consists of Mrs. H. Bamesberger and Mrs. A. Eltiste, flowers; Mrs. F. Schafer, Mrs. G. Suhr, Mrs. W. William Seadman, Mrs. H. Sholm, Mrs. O. Steinbrink and Mrs. J. Scheltz, refreshments.
Circle One Plans To Sponsor Dinner
Members of Circle One of White Temple Methodist Church met at the parsonage with Thomas L. Burden as hostess.
Plans were discussed for Circle One and other circle groups sponsor a dinner at the Mexican Methodist Church.
Circle One will meet with other Circles November 4.

MR. AND MRS. McBRIDE CELEBRATE THEIR 59 YEARS TOGETHER AT HOME
In celebrating of their fifty-nine years together, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. McBride of 828 N. Pine St., residents of Anaheim since 1921, were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. George R. Morrison and Gracie Iredale, both of Anaheim, at the McBride home October 11.
Mr. and Mrs. McBride were married October 11, 1882 in Durango, Col. Mrs. McBride, the former Metta Ives, will be 80 didn't know each other until they both had moved to Colorado. Mr. McBride's home-town was Bell-videre and Mrs. McBride's was De Kalb. After their marriage they moved to Oregon and in 1920 went to Santa Ana, where they stayed a year, and then to Anaheim where they have lived ever since.

The Fremont Parent-Teacher Association will stage its annual benefit carnival at Fremont Street tomorrow from 4:30 to 9:30 There will be a small admiral charge and a supper will served.
Plans for the carnival made at the first general meeting of the Association last week the cafeteria. The president, George L. Rains began the long by introducing Superintendent M. A. Gauer. The Fremont staff was then introduced includes Wilbert Bonney, Davis, William Kinard, Miss Gretis, Miss Laura Dean, Edna Wisely, Russell Henzie, Elizabeth Smith, Miss Kramer, Fred Frederickson, ter Phillips, Mrs. Lois Vale, Adah Louise Wilcox, Miss McPherson, Eldon Houck and Maxine Dull.
Resignations from Mrs. Hein, first vice president Mrs. Paul Boliek, auditor, accepted at the meeting and places were filled by Mrs. Baumbach and Mrs. H. C. Vail who were elected during business session. Mrs. Baumbach who will be program chair for the year, gave her plant programs and introduced Gretis of the English Department who gave a short talk.
Following the meeting, remnents of cookies and tea served by Mrs. Smith and domestic science class. Ditions in white flowers and candles were placed on the floor.

Lois Rebekahs Have Business Meet, Card Party
A short business meeting by Lois Rebekah Lodge members was followed by a card party Friday evening at the Odd Fellows' Hall.
An announcement was made during the business session by Mrs. Besse Curtis, noble grand, concerning the Thimble club meeting tomorrow.
With the officers as hostesses and Mrs. Vernice Summers, vice noble grand, as general chairman, the card party was participated by over 70 guests.
Winners in penochle were Mrs. Charlotte Hodges, Mrs. Gertrude Rohwer, Keith Cannon and Clarence Robinson; five hundred, Miss Hannah Horwitz, Mrs. Rosetta Sparks, Arthur Lindley and Arthur Cruse; bridge, Mrs. May Belle Spencer, Mrs. Mary Jones, Frank Borth and Fred Garrison.
The door prizes went to Mrs. Jennie Nelson and James Story.
Refreshments for the evening were served under the direction of Mrs. Mary Mitchell, refresniment chairman.
The Rebekah lodge will meet again November 7.
Townsend Club To Have Luncheon
A ham sandwich luncheon will be given by the Anaheim Townsend Club No. 1 Tuesday evening at the regular meeting beginning at 6 p.m.
Guest speaker will be the Rev. Joe Nation of the Long Beach Baptist church. This will be his farewell talk for the Townsend movement in Orange County as he will leave for his new charge in El Centro November 1.
Alaska Is Subject Of Missionary Society Meeting
"Flight Through Alaska and the Arctic with Peeks into the Missions" was the topic for the meeting of the Presbyterian Church Missionary Society at the church hall Thursday.
Four members who spoke on didn't know each other until they both had moved to Colorado. Mr. McBride's home-town was Bellidere and Mrs. McBride's was De Kalb. After their marriage they moved to Oregon and in 1920 went to Santa Ana, where they stayed a year, and then to Anaheim where they have lived ever since.
More than fifty friends from the surrounding country called at their home during the celebration to congratulate them. Mrs. Morrison and Miss Iredale are daughters of the McBrides.
Mariners Plan Penny Circus
The Anaheim Mariners' made more plans for its circus on November 8 at an executive board meeting at Presbyterian church last week.

Alaska Is Subject Of Missionary Society Meeting
“Flight Through Alaska and the Arctic with Peeks into the Missions” was the topic for the meeting of the Presbyterian Church Missionary Society at the church hall Thursday.
Four members who spoke on the topic were Mrs. Virginia Paddock, Mrs. Mary Vincent, Mrs. W. F. Chamberlin and Mrs. Edna Hilton. They were introduced by Mrs. Mabel Marshall. A playet was presented by Mrs. Hilton, who was in charge of the lesson of the day. The parts were played by several intermediate Sunday School girls.
Miss Vera Riner, accompanied by Miss Susan Hilbers, sang “Indian Love Call.” Devotionals were led by Mrs. D. Jerry Youngs.
Refreshments were served by Mrs. Edith Walker, Mrs. Erma Kalen, Mrs. Eunice Elliott, Mrs. Emma Stanley.

WEDS OAKLAND
GIRL SATURDAY
Miss Louise Bradley of Oakland became the bride of Raymond Nebelung, son of Mrs. Josephine Nebelung, at the Nebelung home at 812 E. Sycamore St. Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Thomas H. Walker officiating.
The bride's attendants were Mrs. Violet Cantwell, sister of the groom and Mrs. Elsie Skinner, also a sister. The bride's attire featured a lovely orchid corsage. She was given away by B. H. Sidnam of this city. Clyde Webb of Anaheim was best man.
The former Miss Bradley has been working at a jewelry store in Oakland but will not continue to work. Mr. Nebelung was educated in Anaheim schools and the University of California at Berkeley. He is employed at the Federal Land Bank at Berkeley where the newly married couple will make their home November 1.
A reception followed the ceremony and was attended by 35 friends.
Miss Ruth Hoffman of Minneapolis, Minn., is spending a month in Southern California visiting friends and is staying with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Hoffman and cousin, Emmie Hoffman, of 124 N. Olive St. This is her first trip to California.
Theta Rho Girls Install Compton, Inglewood Officers
The Kappa No. 10 Club of Inglewood were installed Saturday night by members of the Omega Chi Theta Rho Girls Club at Inglewood.
The installing officer was Beryl Wilson who was assisted by Betty Swenson, marshall; Rusine Roy; Martina Jones; Marie Fogler; Trene Jobman and Jean Zable, officers; and Patty Price; Thelma Swenson, Barbara Laired and Daphne Calver, escorts.
Members of the board of control attending were Miss Glady; Smith of Los Angeles and Mrs. Mabel Ives of Anaheim.
The local Theta Rho girls also installed the Compton club last Wednesday evening. The regular meeting of the Omega Chi Club will be held November 5 at which time plans will be made for a comedy play to be presented November 18.
