Pomona College Club Names Officers
Mabel McFadden of Santa Ana, who graduated from Pomona College in 1908, became chairman of the Pomona College Club of Orange county Tuesday following elections held recently at the home of Orlyn N. Robertson of 2319 Riverside Dr., Santa Ana.
John B. Crossley, principal of Placentia high school, was named assistant chairman.
Besides Mrs. McFadden and Crossley, members of the board are Mrs. Kramer Ruhfleisch, Mabel A. Meyers, both of Anaheim; Raymond M. Elliott, principal of Huntington Beach high school; Mrs. Fred G. Forrey and Orlyn Robertson, both of Santa Ana.
A stag luncheon of Pomona College Men of Orange County will be staged in Santa Ana October 27. Coaches Earl J. Merritt and Colvin Heath will speak with Pomona's president, Dr. E. Wilson Lyon. Arrangements are being made by Crossley.
Two WTC Members Given Reception
A reception in honor of Mrs. Paul Demaree and Mrs. Harry L. Burden, who are returning to the White Temple choir, was held in the Lady's Parlor of the White Temple Methodist church Thursday evening following choir practice.
The reception was also a farewell for Miss Betty Fackiner, director of music for the choir, who left for New York with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Fackiner to be gone a month.
Special guests included the music committee, Mrs. Melbourne Gauer, Mrs. Ted Payne, Mrs. Fred AGNES CALLENS TELLS BETROTHAL TO STAN ZINDA
Miss Alice Callens announced her engagement to Stan Zinda of Anaheim at a party given at the Callens' home on Cerritos Ave. by her mother, Mrs. Alice Callens, Sunday afternoon. Assisting the hostess were the honored guest's sisters, Anita, Andrea and Angela.
The announcement party began with a lovely dessert luncheon that featured floral arrangements of dahlias, Afterward bridge and five hundred were played. The bridge prizes went to Mrs. Bill Giles and Mrs. Theodore Eimers. Mrs. Joe Callens and Mrs. Gene Plou were winners in five hundred.
The exact date for the wedding has been not decided but will be in the spring of 1942, it was announced.
Those who attended included Miss Callens' mother, Mrs. Alice Callens, her sisters, Andrea and Anita Callens and Angela Plou; her aunts, Mrs. Gus Callens, Mrs. Joe Gallens, Mrs. Rene Callens, of Santa Ana; Mrs. Renie Callens and Mrs. Joe Callens of Oxnard; and Mrs. Adele Vanderbeck of Anaheim; her cousins, Miss Irene Callens of Oxnard and Mrs. Rose Goosns of Los Alamitos.
Friends present were Mrs. Theodore Eimers, Mrs. Clem Heinz, Mrs. A. Zinda and Mrs. Walter Zinda, sisters-in-law of the prospective bridegroom; Mrs. Bill Giles, sister of the bridegroom-to-be; Mrs. Jack Shinn, Mrs. Carl Karcher, Mrs. Albert Karcher, all of Anaheim; Mrs. Charles Bermullen of Santa Ana; Mrs. Victor Peltzer, Mrs. Gene Plou, Mrs. Paul Dominguez, Mrs. Don Ross, Mrs. Christina Pohlmann with Junior Ebell Members Plan Hallowe'en Dance
Members of the Junior Committee met at the clubhouse Tuesday morning for the first fall meeting.
Plans for a Hallowe'en dance and party on October 25 werecussed. It will be held at Long Beach Recreation club 5000 E. Anaheim St. The committee in charge of the tea November 4 was also announced.
The co-chairmen are Mrs. Warren Schutz and Mrs. William Taylor with Mrs. Phyllis Corcock; Mrs. Edith Falkenstein, Miss Louise Rumstrom and Mrs. Yates as assistants.
The program given at the reception began with two pieces by Katherine McCullah at the She played Granada's "Spain Dance" and Debussy's "Claire Lune."
Miss Patricia Vallely of Santa Ana reviewed 18 current selling books before the meeting was adjourned and refreshments served.
The program chairman was Nona Planting and refreshments served by the executive board.
Dr. Lee Russell Speaks at Magnolia P.-T.A.Meeting
Seventy-five members guests of the Magnolia P-T.A for the first general meeting this year's term at the Magna School auditorium Tuesday morning.

Cousin Leaves for Indiana Home
Mrs. W. F. Doudaty of Indianapolis, Ind., left last week after visiting one month with her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gledhill of this city.
A farewell party was given before she left at the Gledhill home. Refreshments were served amid the bright colors of red, white and blue and napkins with "best wishes" inscribed on them.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard South of Anaheim, Mr. and Mrs. Orin Lee of Buena Park, Mr. and Mrs. Walt Borgeson of Placentia and the Gledhill children, Mel, Lilly and Jack, Jr.
This was Mrs. Daudaty's first visit to California. Points of interest that were shown her by the Gledhill's included Chinatown and Olvera street.
Chispa Chapter Enjoys Frozen Food Luncheon
Members of the Chispa Chapter, O.E.S., were served a frozen food luncheon by the Excelsior Creamery at the Ebell clubhouse Tuesday afternoon.
Following the luncheon, cards were played with winners being Lillian Davis, Esther Kempeer Margaret Hedges in bridge and Mrs. M. Gates, Mrs. Alta Annin and Mrs. Bushard in five hundred.
Co-chairmen for the afternoon were Clara Wilson and Myreta Organ.
K. of C.'s to Sponsor Barbecue Soon
The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a barbecue Sunday, October 10 at Sycamore Grove in Santa Ana Canyon.

The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a barbecue Sunday, October 10 at Sycamore Grove in Santa Ana Canyon.
Tickets for the event are priced at 60c for adults and 30c for children 15 years of age or under. A feature of the day will be a large portable radio to be raffled off. Tickets at 10c or three for 25c can be purchased from any member.
A meeting is scheduled for tonight at the K of C hall and all members are urged to be present as final details for the barbecue will be worked out.
Mother Colony Chapter, DAR, Meet Tomorrow
The regular meeting of Mother Colony Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will be at the home of Mrs. Frank Gibbs, 929 E. Center St., tomorrow at 2:30 o'clock.
The theme for the afternoon will be "Our Army" and Mrs. Charles Pearson will be in charge of the program. Hostesses for the day will be Mrs. Gibbs and Miss Elenora A. Parker.
All members are urged to be present.
Baumberger and Bride Tell Marriage
Friends heard recently of the marriage of Fred Baumberger of this city and Miss Mae A. Rockwell, formerly of Wisconsin, now of Los Angeles, at Les Vegas, Nev. on September 6.
Mr. Baumberger is a mail carrier at the local post office. The couple are living in Anaheim.

Hallowe’en Dance
Members of the Junior Ebell at the clubhouse Tuesday evening for the first fall meeting. Plans for a Hallowe’en dance party on October 25 were discussed. It will be held at the Beach Recreation club at E. Anaheim St. The committee in charge of the tea on November 4 was also announced. Co-chairmen are Mrs. Warren Schutz and Mrs. Walter Moore with Mrs. Phyllis Corcoran, Edith Falkenstein, Miss Mary Rose Rumstrom and Mrs. Elva Sims as assistants.
