SUNDAY BIG DAY AS 300 CARFULS MAKE TRIP TO SEE BOMBER B-19 An estimated throng of 1500 people from out Anaheim way were at March Field Sunday to see the world's largest bomber, B-19. Since the bomber is too large to describe, and even though the crowd was nearly as large, perhaps we can name some of the people in that crowd who attended. In the Number One car leaving from Anaheim were Chief of Police J. S. Bouldin, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Boney, Sergeant Mark Stephenson and family and Mr. and Mrs. John M. Johnston. On and on to the back the cars went—300 in number... There was Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Baker and their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Baker of Fullerton; Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Brown and children, Catherine and Barbara, with Mr. Brown's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Brown; The W. E. Fennells with son, Robert; The Ed Heinzes wits sons, Dicky and Jimmy, with Mrs. Heinz's mother, Mrs. Mary Swindler. Picknickers Picnicking after the review were Mr. and Mrs. Cortez Hoskins, sons, Cortez jr., Dickie and Bobby; The Frank Palomares with children, Betty and Richard, and Mrs. Elizabeth Boddicker, mother of Mrs. Palomares; Anaheim folks, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Carter and Mr. and Mrs. J. Windsor Seapy with Buena Park friends, Mr. and Mrs. John Lebel. Saying that the bomber was just too big were Mr. and Mrs. Hurshel Snyder, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Stidham and guest; The Eldon Paddocks with Mrs. Paddock's mother, Mrs. Florence Humphries and Mr. Paddock's father, E. H. Paddock; Mr. and Mrs. John Mary and their two children; The James Sparks and Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Sparks who later visited friends in In First Group Lucky ones to be in the first group were Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. With Robert Hedrick were Bill Deiger, Bill Schweiss of Fullerton and Miss Edna Shubert and her brother from Placentia; The Herman Oelrichs were accompanied by their children, Lois and Gary and Miss Augusta Husman; Seeing the “Big B” with the George Fletchers were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gregg and sons, Dicky and Robert. Birthday Celebration The E. S. Reisingers took Mrs. Reisinger's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Nelson, her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Miller of Los Angeles, Miss Carmelita Bright and Louis Abrams of Hawthorn. Following the trip, they celebrated Mrs. Nelson's birthday at the Reisinger home with a birthday dinner. Out-of-towners made the trip with the Leavitt Fords, they were Mr. and Mrs. Rex McGill and family of Orange and Mrs. Rose Ford of Hollywood, mother of Mr. Ford and Bruce Macbeth. Last Sunday, Mrs. Irving Berlin, spoke and will be followed by equally well-known speakers. On September 6 from 2 to 2:30 p.m. over CBS, King Peter of Yugoslavia will speak from London on the occasion of his eighteenth birthday and will be followed by Wendell Wilkie from the United States. William Pickens, president of the national association for the advancement of colored people, who is now working for the government to sell defense bonds, will also speak soon on the Defend America broadcasts. Death Summons Aged Resident Mrs. Rebecca Smith, who since 1923 has resided in Anaheim, was on Wednesday morning summoned by death following an illness of some duration. She was aged 81 years. Born in Iowa in 1860, later moving to Nebraska, she came to this city in 1923, living with her daughter, Mrs. Ona Foland, since that time. Surviving are Mrs. Foland; Mrs. Edna McManigal of Long Beach, also a daughter; four grandsons and five great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Wilbur, secretary and manager for YMCA summer camps at Osceola, for use of boys from nine years of age, upward. Accident Victim Dies of Injuries Mrs. Benita Buendia, address given as 1141 Parry Ave., Anaheim, was fatally injured in an accident near the intersection of Lemon and North Los Angeles street, yesterday morning. The victim, aged about 70 years, was crossing the 101 Highway when she apparently walked into a truck driven by Billie Schmitt, of Anaheim. With arms filled with purchases she probably did not see the approaching truck, being struck and thrown to the pavement. Death occurred a short time after being received at Orange county hospital. Funeral arrangements will be made later. If Holland can be proud of anything in the last 25 years, there must be eliminated the affectionate attentions to old Kaiser Bill and the recent attentions from Kaiser Adolf. Final Rites Held For Manuel Tapia Requiem mass was said Monday morning at services held in St. Boniface Catholic church for Manuel Tapia, who passed away last Friday at Orange county hospital. Seale's mortuary was in charge. An early settler in this community the deceased had resided in Anaheim for 55 years. At time of demise he was 92 years of age. Surviving are his wife, Firmina; a daughter, Mrs. John Murillo of Bakersfield; a nephew, Vidal Ruiz of Anaheim and a niece, Mrs. Virginia Helbig of Long Beach. Interment was made at Holy Cross cemetery. The California State Fair is the largest State Fair in America with 713,625 admissions in 1940, and attendance of 800,000 forecast for the 1941 Exposition opening August 29 in Sacramento.
