LOIS REBEKAH'S NEW OFFICERS INSTALLED FRIDAY Amid patriotic colors, the newly elected and appointed officers of Lois Rebekah Lodge were installed by Mrs. Ethel H. Brown, District Deputy President of Santa Ana, at a formal affair Friday evening at Odd Fellows hall. ELECTIVE OFFICERS Miss Anna Lampman took her place as Junior Past Noble Grand and Mrs. Marie Cannon of Placentia became Noble Grand. Mrs. Vernice Summers is the new Vice Grand; Mrs. Berthyle Reisinger, Recording Secretary; Mrs. Elsie Borth, Financial Secretary; and Mrs. Lizzie Nylen, Treasurer, are the other elective Grand officers. They and 12 escorts, all dressed in white, solemnized the ceremony with Mrs. Brown, who was assisted by Deputy Marshal, Mrs. Susie Walker. The escorts carried bouquets of white sweet peas tied with red, white and blue ribbon with a patriotic tableau at the end. The main hall was beautifully decorated with baskets of red white and blue flowers and the dining room was also resplendent in the patriotic theme with a huge flag on the wall. Mrs. Etta Tuma and Miss Barbara Myers respectively were chairmen of the decorations of the two rooms. GRAND OFFICERS PRESENT Several Grand officers were present and after being escorted to the platform, gave speeches. They were: Cyrus Palmer of Orange, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of California; William Peterkin of Orange, Past Department Commander of the Patriarch Militant of California; Mrs. Mildred Allen, Anaheim, Marshall of the Rebekah Assem- William Lewellyn Jr. Trains for Coast Guard at Academy William Lewellyn, jr., 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lewellyn sr., of E. Romneya Dr., is enrolled at the Coast Guard Academy at New London, Conn. where he will train for four years to become a Coast Guard. He recently passed a test which entitled him to enter the academy. He left last Monday with four boys from Santa Ana, Fullerton, Compton and Los Angeles. He had planned to be one of the crew of the "Pajara" sailboat, owned by the Griffith Brothers, that entered the Honolulu race, but when word came that he had passed the test, he abandoned the plans for the academy. Bill graduated from Anaheim high school, spent a year at Fullerton junior college and one year at a prep school in Long Beach before entering the Connecticut academy. Miss Stabbert Celebrates Birthday Little Miss Joan Adel Stabbert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Stabbert of 532 S. Palm St., became three years old Saturday and celebrated it with a gay party. The beach theme was carried out in balloons and sand piles where the children played during the afternoon. The birthday cake was shaped like a boat and the tables were decorated with crepe paper which gave a wave effect in blue and white. The guest list reads: Carol Lee Wilkerson, June Carol Jungkeit, Phyllis Boettcher, Dianne Craig of El Monte, Richard and John Roehm, Frank and John Miller of Tucson, Virginia and Bertrand EARLY OLIVE SETTLERS WED AT LONG BEACH Two early settlers of Olive, now Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Bush, (the former Mrs. Nancy Ann Bush) were married Sunday at the home of Mrs. Bush's daughter, Mrs. R. H. Bagley of Long Beach. Mrs. Bush came to Olive in 1882 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Robbins, but was living in Huntington Park before her marriage. Her new husband has lived in Olive most of his life. ATTENDED BY COUSINS Mrs. Bush wore a blue and white printed silk jacket dress with white accessories and a corsage of gardenias with pink Flinch roses. The Rev. Mr. Eldred Charles of Culver City performed the ceremony. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Perry Bush, their second cousins. Mrs. Perry Bush wore a blue and white redingote of silk with a corsage of gardenias. The couple were married in front of the fireplace banked with baskets of yellow gladiolas and blue larkspur. The mantle was covered with white dahlias and stock. RECEPTION GIVEN Before leaving on their 7-day honeymoon, a reception was given. Mrs. Bagley and Mrs. Earl Hall served. The newlyweds will make their home in Olive. Aunts present were Mrs. Walter Schroeder and Miss Lois Schroeder. It was also the birthday of Mrs. George Watts and she was honored with a large cake. Mother Visits Injured Son at Camp Mrs. Earl J. Spires and daughter, Evelyn, of 621 S. Dickel St., returned last Thursday from a three-day visit at Santa Barbara with Irvin Spires, son and brother of the visitors, who was suffering from several broken bones and bruises from an army truck accident. Two months ago, he was stationed at Camp San Luis Obispo and one of the tires on the truck he was driving blew out and a serious accident ensued. He is now well on the road to recovery and his mother and sister came home much relieved. His brother, Lloyd, also now stationed at Santa Barbara, came home with the visitors for a week-end leave. Captain Entertains Parents at Camp Capt. Michael C. Mattis, Company M. of the 160th Infantry at San Luis Obispo, entertained with his officers at a dinner Friday night in Officers' Mess Hall for his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Mattis of 861 S. Palm St. and sister, Mrs. R.C.Robb, Hermosa. A seven-piece orchestra played and songs were sung during the evening. Those present were Col. and Mrs.Murry Maj.Zeller, Capt. Class Members Give Surprise Party A surprise birthday party was given in honor of Miss Bettijane Polston on her eighteenth birthday Saturday night when a group of class members met at her home at 700 N.Sabina St. and feted her on her happy occasion. A barbecued dinner was served in the attractive out-door dining room. Miss Polston then opened her gifts. Later in the evening the group attended the theater after which refreshments of cake and ice cream were served. Those present were Josephine Elbinger, Norma Gould, Bern Lenain, Melvin Pugh, Jack Polston and his sister and honored guest, Bettijane. Group Enjoys Party Out-of-Doors An outside birthday party was given Sunday by Mr. and Mrs.Luther Strain at 829 N.Citron St.honoring Mr. Strain's sister, Mrs.C.R.Allin of Buena Park. A large cake and a delicious barbecue supper was enjoyed by the guests. Appropriate games were played during the afternoon and prizes went to Mrs. Ernest Knaak, mother of the bride-to-be; Mrs. Olive Cole, Mrs. Helen Hill, Mrs. Rosemary Smith, Mrs. Wanda Larsen and Mrs. Ramona Lotze. Young People’s Club Entertained Sunday The Young People's Fellowship of the White Temple church were entertained Sunday evening by Mrs. L. R. Frederick and Mrs. Frederick's home at 318 S. Clementine St. The group celebrated the birthday of Misses Jewel Osher and Betty Kolbe. Two cakes were served and the evening was spent in singing and playing games. Parents at Camp Capt. Michael C. They also took a tour over the camp including the inspection of 9 acres of hospital buildings. Capt. Mattis is a former Anaheim resident and married Miss Katherine Montenyohl. They live with their four children at Glendale. Guests were Mr. and Anaheim Lady Selected Chairman At District Meeting With 160 delegates present at the luncheon, Mrs. Olive Shoemaker of Anaheim was selected chairman of the Southern District Motion Pictures committee Sunday at the Southern District meeting of the Business and Professional Women's clubs at Laguna Beach high school. The District president, Mrs. Maybelle Hathaway of Anaheim, presided over the meeting, at which the Orange County clubs acted as hostesses. "Red Cross and the Civil Defense Program" was title of the speech given by Bowen McCoy, general chairman of the Los Angeles division of the Red Cross. In the afternoon, plans were made for a board meeting at San Bernardino in October. Native Daughters Install Officers This Monday Night The installation of eighteen new officers of the Native Daughters of the Golden West will take place this Monday evening at the K. C. Hall in Santa Ana. Mrs. Vicenta Carlton of Anaheim is in charge of the evening's program and Mrs. Adlena Marschall, also of Anaheim, will take her place as Past President of this district. Tuesday, Mrs. Grace Stoermer, the recent state-wide general convention chairman, will entertain all the vice presidents and presidents at the Athletic club in Los Angeles. Jolly Dames Give Gay Housewarming FORMER ANAHEIM GIRL WEDS SANTA ANAN AT ORANGE At the Presbyterian Church in Orange, Miss Bonnie Bentson, a former Anaheim girl, was married to Lloyd Chapel of Santa Ana before 400 friends and relatives Sunday afternoon. DRESSED IN PASTELS Her maid-of-honor was Miss Roselin Hauser of Anaheim, who wore a yellow net gown and carried Talisman roses in yellow and orange shades. The bride chose a white net with a head-dress of pearls and carried Lilies of the Valley with an orchid. Her two bridesmaids wore pink and blue net with sweet pea and orchid bouquets. Her little flower girl was dressed in blue net. A reception followed the ceremony at the home of her bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs., Walter Troutman of Orange. Nearly 150 persons were present. Punch and wedding cake were served in the patio. Mrs. Troutman received in a rose silk jersey with a rose corsage and Mrs. Chapel, mother of the bridegroom, wore blue lace with a rose corsage. Magnolia People Hold Annual Picnic Former Anaheim Lady Visits a Day Here Mrs. Harry Melick, former Anaheim resident, arrived with daughter, Myrna, from Texas, Tuesday and spent time with Mrs. Richard Roehm Orange Ave. Mrs. Melick is spending the day with her sister Palm near Culver City. Other guests of Mrs. Ro were here Sunday. They met Mrs. Laura Krebbs and Mrs. Nance Funk, cousins from Morrovia. On Tuesday, Mrs. Ro with her sisters, Mrs. F. G. M., and Miss Wilma Hartley, attended a family reunion of cousins at home of Mrs. Ruth Dartner of Angeles. Miss Schroeder Honored by Brother Miss Lois Schroeder was of honor at a family dinner at home of her brother and sister law, Mr. and Mrs. W Schroeder at 516 E. Chartree Sunday afternoon. Roy of Anaheim and then traveled to the new home of Mrs. Bert Stolle at Escondido. Mrs. Stolle has lived in Escondido for several years but was formerly from Anaheim. Her home is in a modernistic California style of ecru with the interior in a novel new design. Luncheon was served with a lovely cut flower centerpiece of lavender and rose on a long table. Stunts were played upon the various members during the afternoon. Mrs. Mary Anderson of Placentia won first prize for "Disturbing the Peace" and the "Gops" chased Mrs. Roy until she finally won a prize. The hostess was presented with a green porch chair as a group gift. The Jolly Dames attending were Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Angie Wilson, Mrs. Eleanor La Forest, Mrs. Grace McGraw, Mrs. Martha Caillaud, Mrs. Mary Kraemer, Mrs. Mary Dauser, Mrs. Solome Forester and Mrs. Dugweiler, all of Fullerton and Mrs. Roy of Anaheim. Oakland Visitors Arrive on Clipper Mrs. K. C. Ambler and son, Kenneth, of Oakland, are staying ten days with Mrs. Ambler's sister, Mrs. E. C. Westenkuehler at 1120 W. Chestnut St., after traveling from Oakland on the Pan American Clipper. Mr. Ambler was unable to come because his is in charge of communications for the Pan American airlines and travels from China to Honolulu of the mainland. He will however be here Thursday to take his wife and son back to Oakland. Schroeder his wife, father and mother of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Stabbert daughters, Donna and Joan; Miss Alice Kaaz of New Jersey, Conn., who is rooming in Lois at USC where they are attending summer school. Miss Cooper Feted On Third Birthday Little Carol Ann Cooper of 214 E. Valencia St., celebrated her third birthday with a dinner party given by her mother, Mrs. Ben A. Cooper, Monday evening. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Cooper, paternal grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. William Ballman, aunt and uncle, and their daughter Sandra Lee, who was just one year old two days before; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cooper and the honored guest. After dinner, the guests were entertained with movies shown by Carol Ann's father. Henrys Leave For Four Weeks The Rev. Mr. J. W. Henry, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, and Mrs. Henry left Monday for a motor trip across the continent. They will visit relatives at Marble, Ark.; Dayton, Ohio; Philadelphia; and Norfolk, Va. They will be gone until August 22. During his absence, the Rev. Mrs. Cora Isham, of Pomona, for six years pastor of the Anaheim church, will fill the pulpit of the Church of the Nazarene on Sundays, while the Rev.
