Rev. Schmelzer Quits Pastorate

strength and ever present help in the multitudious duties that fall upon the shoulders of the pastor of a large and active congregation.
For many years she was organist of the church until recently when ill health forced her to curtail her activities. She now is relief organist. For 30 years, Mrs. Schmelzer taught the Junior class in the Sunday school and was active in affairs of the Ladies' Aid society and Dorcas society. At the present time she continues as an active member of the choir.
LAUNCHES 2 GENERATIONS
During his long tenure of office the Rev. Mr. Schmelzer has launched two generations of Anaheim citizens on life's precarious voyage. Among his congregation are young couples whom he had baptized, confirmed and married. And in recent years he had started the cycle all over again by christening their children.
During his 33 years in the Zion Lutheran pastorate, the Rev. Mr. Schmelzer performed 288 marriage ceremonies and baptized 434 individuals.
The Schmelzers have three children and two grandchildren.
Their oldest son, Lester, is a deputy in the county superintendent's office in Santa Ana, in charge of all salaries. He is married and the father of one daughter, Joan.

Their daughter is Mrs. Glenn Colleasure, of Taft, the mother of a daughter, Joyce.

W. L. Brigham, for 14 years a member of the city planning commission, submitted his resignation, stating that since he no longer maintains an Anaheim office he frequently is unable to attend meetings.
City Engineer E. P. Hapgood submitted the allocation of $47,-081.21 in state gasoline tax funds for council approval. For the period; July 1, 1941, to July 1, 1943, monies allocated for state highways are: Los Angeles St., $3,650; Manchester Blvd., $850; Lincoln and Center Sts., $3,733.41; purchase of right of way for Manchester freeway, $16,500, and resurfacing of parts of Center St., $7,000.
The state allocated $15,847.80 to the streets-of-major-importance fund; all of it will be expended on a storm drain in Santa Ana St.
'Y' Registers Boys For Camp Expedition
This is "sign up week" at the YMCA for the Older Boys' camp to be held July 16 to 26 at Osceola. The Anaheim quota is 28 boys and these will join other boys from Inglewood and Orange for the ten-day cutting.
J. B. Wilbur, secretary of the Anaheim YMCA, is the camp director. The Rev. Mr. Don Earl Boatman is camp chaplain and Mrs. Boatman is camp nurse.
The Y offices are open from 9:00 to 12:00 a.m. daily to take registrations.
