He is a marine and a graduate from Anaheim High school and the University of Stanford. The Anaheim chapter recently answered an emergency call for bedside bags, utility bags for soldiers, in which 256 were asked to be made. The chapter had only one week to fulfill the order but made 268, more than any other group in Orange County. At a short business session of the Board of Directors and executive committee Tuesday night, it was announced that 12 bed-side bags, 12 card table covers and 4 layettes was the accepted quota completed this month. It was also announced that Miss Jean Heying, swimming instructor at the city plunge, is a qualified Red Cross life saving and water safety instructor and all persons who complete the courses offered at the plunge will receive Red Cross certificates. Home Nursing certificates were presented by the chapter to eight high school girls who completed the regular standard course. Marywood and Anaheim High schools are planning to build their sewing courses to fit the Red Cross needs this next year, in order to do their part in the project.
