Miss Mary Ellen Truxaw Bet UNCLE OF BRIDE MARRIES COUPLE AT ST. BONIFACE'S Dr. J. W. Truxaw gave his daughter, Mary Ellen Truxaw, in marriage Saturday morning at St. Boniface Church to David Max Mari, of San Francisco. The bride's uncle, the Rev. Joseph J. Truxaw, of Los Angeles, married the young couple. The bride was gowned in a white marquisette frock with train and veil, carried orchids, cascading bouvardia and a prayerbook. Her maid-of-honor, Louise Ann Truxaw, her sister, was dressed in blue marquisette gown. She was assisted by Miss Janice Peek, Miss Mary Lcuise Canahl, Miss Mary Montague and Miss Annette Schurich. They wore pink with Queen of Scots hats and heart bouquets. Miss Carol Truxaw, the flower girl, was dressed like the maid-of-honor. RECEPTION AT HOME Mr. Mari's best man was Dennis Ahern. Ushers were John and Robert Truxaw, Stiles McLaughton and Eman O'Connell. Music was provided by Miss Marylan Heinz, soloist, and Mrs. Anthony Faust, organist. Decorations at the church were white stocks and gladiolas with aisle posts displaying sweet peas. A reception was given at the home of the bride at 887 S. Los Angeles St. with a three-tier wedding cake cut by the new Mrs. Mari. White flowers decorated the home. Hostesses at the buffet tea were Mrs. Ernest Ganahl, Mrs. Oscar Heying, and sisters of the ST. AGNES GUILD CLOSES SEASON The last meeting until September of the St. Agnes Guild was Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Earl T. Jackson, 540 S. Clementine St. A pot-luck dinner was served out-of-decks and following a short business meeting presided over by Mrs. Thecdore Kuchel, bridge was played. The prize was won by Mrs. Adah Wilcox. Mrs. Hilton Dalessi was introduced to the group as a new member and guests of the evening were Mrs. Arno Adams and Mrs. H. C. Sather, brought by Mrs. Barbara Kilduff and Mrs. Kuchel. Others present were Mrs. Catherine Easton, Mrs. Elcise Horn, Mrs. Wilma Newland, Mrs. Sid Rofferd, Mrs. Mildren Taggart, Mrs. Wilcox, Mrs. Kilduff, Mrs. Kuchel and the co-hostesses, Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Betty Crane. Members of O. E. S. Surprise Matron Members of the Chispa Chapter of the Eastern Star surprised their matron, Mrs. Nellie Harpster, with a birthday party at the last meeting of the chapter until September Tuesday night. Mrs. Hargaret Hedges, the associate matron, planned the surprise party and had a cake and the members brought gifts for the honored guest. The refreshment committee included Mrs. Myreta Organ, Mrs. Lulu Zitzman, Mrs. Victor La Mont, Mrs. Esther Kemper, Mrs. Katie Ward, Mrs. Lillian Davis and Mrs. Jesse Donald Witt Marries Nadine Gallagher, Miss Nadene Marie Gallagher of Santa Ana and Donald Timm Witt of Buena Park were married Sunday morning at the Capilla de San Antonio by the Rev. Mr. Thomas L. Burden of White Temple Methodist Church of Anaheim. The young couple, after a short wedding trip down the coast, will make their home in this city. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Gallagher and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Witt of 426 Darlington St Buena Park. About 100 friends and relatives witnessed the wedding. Miss Gallagher made a beautiful bride in an ivory satin formal with a long train and veil. She carried a shower bouquet of white carnation and bouvardia. Her cousin, Mrs. Charles G Wilson was the matron-of-honor and Mr. Wilson was best man. Decorations were of white larkspur, gladiolii, palms and ferns. A breakfast reception was given after the ceremony in the garden. A three-tiered wedding cake was set upon a lace-clothed table with white flowers as decorations. The new Mrs. Witt's going-away dress was a blue suit with white accessories. They left immediately after the reception for their trip. Date of Wedding Marked at Picnic A family picnic celebrating the fifteenth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pannier, Decorations at the church were white stocks and gladiolas with aisle posts displaying sweet peas. Neville assisted in pouring. The groom's mother, Mrs. Max Mari, lives at 485 Cavcur St. in Oakland. Miss Truxaw attended the Flintridge Academy of Montana and is a graduate of St. Mary's College and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. Previous to her marriage, she was a nurse at the St. Vincent's Hospital but will not continue to work. Mr. Mari graduated from the University of California and is employed with the Fibreboard Inc., of San Francisco. The newlyweds are toruing Canada for two weeks and will make their home in Berkeley after July 6. 34 GIRL SCOUTS TO GO CAMPING Thirty-four girl scouts and their leader, Miss Mary Shea will leave Anaheim Monday morning for a week's camp at Jenks lake in the San Bernardino mountains. They will camp this year with the Whittier Girl Scouts. Miss Shea and Miss Nancy Webb of Anaheim will be on the camp staff as councillors and the camp will be under the direction of Miss Nancy Hargraves, a former Anaheim Girl Scout, who is now director of Girl Scouts in Whittier. The scouts attending are Elaine Schumaker, Jean and Joan Truxaw, June Carter, Betty June Roberts, Andrea Callens, Joe Ransome, Gertrude Liekus, Dorothy Saylor, Mary Louise Heinz, Joan DeWitt, Genevieve Allee, Peggy Ganahl, Joan and Mary Webb, Mary Lee Melton, Barbara Bed- will be under the direction of Miss Nancy Hargraves, a former Anaheim Girl Scout, who is now director of Girl Scouts in Whittier. Of Wedding Bed at Picnic Friday picnic celebrating the wedding anniversary of Mrs. Howard Pannier, of Girl Reserves Visit At Camp Osceola Thirty-eight members of Anaheim's Girl Reserves and group leaders previewed Camp Osceola Monday before their week's stay there August 4 to 11. The camp was in readiness for the boys who arrived Tuesday. Transportation was provided by Mrs. John Wilson, Mrs. Lyman Harpster, Mrs. Marion Pickle, Mrs. Warren Hodges, Mrs. Cassie Wethered and Mrs. Charles A. Pearson. The inspection lasted from early morning until after a campfire meeting. The pool was ready for swimming and there were many games and sports played during the morning and afternoon. The night program was entitled "Campfire of Imagination" and Catherine Gauer played the part of a new camper and the play centered about a dream in which she pictured what Camp Osceola would be like. The Rev. Mr. H. F. Softley of Orange performed the ceremony. The bride is a graduate of UCLA where she was YWCA director of dramatics and a member of the student council. She is affiliated with the Phi Beta, PiLambda Theta and PiGamma sororities. The groom graduated from Anaheim high school, received his AB degree at UCLA and his MA at the University of California at Berkeley. He also attended the University of Heidleberg and is a candidate for a Ph.D. degree at USC. He is now a teacher at National City. Miss Stow wore a white dotted net gown with a bouquet of bouvardia and white roses with an orchid. She was attended by her sister, Miss Ann Stow, who was dressed in a blue lace and marquisette formal and carried delphinium and talisman roses with bouvardia. Her bridesmaid was Miss Karen Knudtsen and Eleanor Knudtsen was the flowergirl. They both wore pink organdy and carried pink roses and white sweetpeas. The bride was given away by her uncle, Herbert Phillips, and John Goble was best man. Two solos were sung by a sorority sister of the bride, Miss Helen Crosier. She sang "Because" and "Ave Maria." Miss Joyce E. Williamson of Nehemiah and John Bolton Bestall of San Francisco became man and woman. Miss Williamson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Williamson Orangewood Ave. and the son of Dr. and Mrs. B. Bestall of Downey. The Rev. Mr. R. Nels Swenerton Medlands, an old friend of the bride, performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride wore a white chenille gown, which had a tight bodice draped out into a full skirt with short train. She carried a white quet centered with an orchid. Her sister, Miss Alice Williamson, was the bridesmaid and was dressed in a Grecian-style Alice chiffon with a fitted match-jacket. Her bouquet was similar to the bride's but was covered with a blue water lily. Other attendant, Mrs. M. J. Rosen donned a dusty rose fitted dress with a full skirt draped at the waist and at the shoulder sleeve. Her bouquet was presented with a rose water lily. The best man was Harvey Wilford of Long Beach. Paul Higgins Long Beach, and Lawrence Los Angeles St. In the receiving line were the parents of the bride and bridegroom and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gregson. Mrs. Williamson was dressed in a dusty rose crepe formal with all overlace trim and Mrs. Gregson wore an all-overlace powder-blue redingote. Hostesses greeting the 75 guests were Mrs. Barfoot; Mrs. Merit Avers, of Compton (nee Miss Evelyn Nancarrow of Anaheim); Miss Pauline Guthrie, of Alhambra; Mrs. John Koeper, of Los Angeles, and Miss Lillian Williamson of Compton, cousins of the bride. They all were attired in harmonizing pastel formals. Large bowls of pink roses, white snapdragons and gladiolas highlighted the decorations in the home. Miss Williamson attended Anaheim high school, Fullerton junior college, San Jose state and postgraduate work at USC. She is a member of the Tau Gamma and is a physical education honor society Santa Barbara State, Oregon State and USC. They will go on a wedding trip in Oregon and then make their home in San Francisco. Maj. R. H. Lee Has Birthday Party Major R. H. Lee was honored with a birthday party by a group of friends Monday evening at his home at 321 S. Olive St. Games were played midtier arrangements of spring flowers. After the social time, a weiner bake in the out-of-doors was enjoyed by those present. Major Lee's grandson, Willis Brown, Jr., presented him with the gifts brought by the friends.
