Constance Smith to Become 350 Guests Bidden To Nuptial Rites Miss Constance Smith, daughter of Mrs. Ruth Cull Smith, will become the bride of Thomas D. Sowder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Artiss Wetherald Sowder, Sunday afternoon at St. Mary's church in Fullerton. More than 350 guests have been invited. The bride will wear a white French marquisette gown and will carry a bouquet of white orchids and Bouvardia. Miss Eleanor Ferguson of Glendale, will be the maid-of-honor and three bridesmaids will be Miss Betty Wingfield of Anaheim, Miss Barbara Fleming of Westwood and Miss Betty Ann Howland of Beverly Hills. BRIDESMAIDS IN PINK Their gowns will be pink tulle with matching turbans and bouquets of pink roses will be carried. Marshall Sowder, brother of the bridegroom, will be best man and the Rev. Father Henry Gross of St. Boniface parish will perform the marriage ceremony. Miss Ramona Holmes, of Fullerton, at the organ, will accompany Mrs. Arthur May of Santa Ana, the soloist. Ushers will be Herbert O. Truex and Arthur G. Goehner, Jr., of Los Angeles; E. Morgan Stanley, of Beverly Hills, and William A. Sowder, of Anaheim. Miss Smith is a graduate of Anaheim Union high school of the 1940 class, was president of the Aviator Here Weekend John J. Clementine St. was taken to the St. Joseph's hospital near Orange Saturday morning. Claussens In East Mrs. William Clausses, of E. North St. and her two sons, Stanley and Gary, left Tuesday for Nebraska where her father and sister live. Mr. Claussen will join his family in July and they will bring a new car home in about five weeks. McCrackens Given Farewell Party Fifty-five friends of the Floyd McCrackens gave a farewell party for them at the White Temple Church parlor Thursday night, under the auspices of the Women’s auxiliary and Mrs. Alfred Bonney and the Homebuilder’s class and Mrs. Charles Ahlstrom. Mrs. McCracken attended but Mr. McCracken was called back to San Diego, where he now is working, and he was unable to be at the party. The church parlor was decorated with roses and violets. The chairmen of the flower committee were Mrs. Ivan Grizzle and Mrs. Bonney; the game committee, Mrs. Melvin Hilgenfeld and Mrs. Clubwomen Draft Convention Plans Members who attended the board meeting of the Business and Professional Women’s Club at the home of Miss Robbie Anderson, 115 E. North St., last Thursday discussed the annual convention of the clubs which will be held in Los Angeles July 6 through 11. The California clubs will be in charge of Fiesta Day July 9. Further discussion concerning this daywill be held at Staar’s Orange Garden today. Dwight Smith, and the chairman of refreshments was Mrs. Albert Cranston. Daigle, Banquet Staged By Mozart Club The Mozart club, honorary society of the Anaheim Union High school, held its annual banquet at the high school cafeteria last week. This club is limited to members of the school glee clubs, orchestra and band who have achieved a certain standard of excellence. First year members receive a club pin; second year members receive a pin to which are attached two notes; the third year members receive a pin with three notes, each set with a pearl, and fourth year members receive a pin with four notes set with rubies. J. A. Clayes, superintendent of the high school, presented the pins at the banquet. Members of the club are: Fourth year: Doris Gamble and Ruth Zimmerman. Third year: Lorraine Teadale, club president; Ann Hamilton, and Ruth Arbigkeit. The pair left on a wedding trip immediately following the ceremony and will be at their home in Southgate about the middle of June. Edwards, of Winston Drive, Anaheim, celebrated their silver wedding anniversary last Sunday at a surprise picnic in City Park. MEMBER OF MOZART CLUB In addition to Miss Gamble, her companists and the ushers, St. Anne’s Will Give Benefit Card Party St. Anne’s Catholic church, of Santa Ana, will give a benefit cardparty Monday night, June 16, in the Ebell club at 625 French St., Santa Ana. The committee has taken great pains to make this one of the outstanding parties of the Spring season. Contract, auction, 500 and pinochle will be player. After the games there will be refreshments. Proceeds from the party will be used to purchase furnishings for the new St. Anne’s church. A registration of workers available for defense jobs is being conducted by all local state employment offices. Bob Chaloner Host To 14 Classmates Bob Chalenor, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Chalenor, had fourteen of his junior class members of Anaheim union high school at his home at 1418 E. Center St. for a party Saturday night. The home was decorated in blue and gold, the class colors, and before and after refreshments the group danced. The guests were Patricia Winney, Patricia Duffy, Joyce Ann Hayes, Evelyn Miller, Betty June Gosch, Oma Reed, Patricia Lillibridge, Wally Duffy Jerry Shulz, La Verne Hayes, Ted Connier, Gene Leikhus, Ed Burnet, Jess Sisk and the host.
