Angela Callens and Henry Plou 400 GUESTS AT RECEPTION FOR NEWLYWEDS At a beautiful morning ceremony at the St. Boniface Church Tuesday, more than 500 guests saw Father Gross pronounce Angela Callens and Henry Plou man and wife. Miss Callens is the daughter of Mrs. Alice Callens of Ceritos Ave. and Mr. Plou is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jean Pluo of Lincoln Ave. The church was decorated with palms, white stocks, Shasta daisies and stately candles. The bride wore a long ivory gown with a train and leg of mutton sleeves, which had pearl beads in design. She carried a gardenia and bouvardia bouquet with orchids in the center. To carry out the 'something borrowed, something blue, something old and something new,' she carried a sixpence; a prayer bocks, a handkerchief, and a blue sterling metal. CARRIES PRAYER BOOK The prayer book and hanker-chief were her mother's, which she carried at her wedding 25 years ago this month. The maids of honor was Alice Callens, sister of the bride, who wore a powder blue net gown with a rose petal hat carried a large bouquet of pink roses and blue delphinium. Bridesmaids were Francis Plou, sister of the bride-groom who was attired in a peach net dress and carried Talisman roses: Andrea Callens, a sister of Anaheim, Calif., June 5, 1941. Grandaughter Here Charlene Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Anderson of San Diego, is spending a week's vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Anderson, 115 E. North St. She is the grandaughter of the Andersons of Anaheim. Her parents are in the north on vacation. Colorado Friends Here on Memorial Day were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and family, of Colorado, visiting Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Allan, 519 S. Clementine St. Four Fcr Lunch Mr. and Mrs. Corliss Davis, of Corona and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Barnes, of Norwalk, were guests at a luncheon given Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Arns, 754 N. West St. Five At Beaumont Judge and Mrs. Frank Tausch, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hackley and Mrs. Hackley's mother, Mrs. Wetten, all of Anaheim, stayed from Friday to Sunday at Beaumont. Visit Friends At Beach Dr. and Mrs. H. E. Tompkins and daughters, Bernice and Norma Joanne, visited Mr. and Mrs. Elton McKaly at their Balboa beach home from Friday through Sunday. Garden Club In Playday The Anaheim Garden Club will host beautiful gardens in the San Diego mountains this week-end were Mr. and Mrs. P. Anderson and daughter, Murray. Three Week Visitor Leaves Mrs. Mary Kiss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Bailey of Maple St., and her son Gary, spent the last three weeks with her parents here. She left Sunday morning for her home in San Francisco. Week-end Trip Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Affleck and Harry, Jr. visited friends at Riverside and Mentone over the Memorial Day week-end. Miss Allan Recovering Miss Margaret Allan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Allan, 519 S. Clementine St., is recovering from an emergency operation performed a week ago at the Go Samaritan hospital in Los Angeles. Guests At Home And Away Mr. and Mrs.Evan Alsip, 515 Zeyn St., had at their home Friday Mrs. B. F. Chase and her granddaughter, Leila Joy, of Riverside On Saturday, the Alsips, including sons Bruce and David, viewed El Centro. Friends Visit Mrs. H. P. Anderson and Ms. Emil Kestenholz, of Anaheim visited Mrs. Charles Miller Exeter last week. Palomar Visitors Visiting the Palomar building the San Diego mountains this week-end were Mr. and Mrs. P. SING NUPTIALS MASS Gerald Callens, the bride's brother, gave her away, and the best man was Stanley Zinda. Ushers were Louis Audet, Charles Dermeulen and Joseph Heinz. Mrs. Clara Faust played the organ during the ceremony and Miss Marilyn Heinz sang "O Glorioso," "Ave Verum Corpus," "Ave Maria" and "O Jesus Lord, Be Thou Mine Own." At nuttial mass, those present with Father Gross were Father Galvin and Father Keane, assistants at St. Boniface; Father O'Carroll of Lynwood; Father Quarannens of the St. Cecelia Church in Los Angeles; and Father Nevin of the Precious Blood Church in Los Angeles. 400 AT RECEPTION A reception was held following the ceremony in the St. Boniface Hall where nearly 400 persons congregated to congratulate the young couple. In the receiving line were Mrs. Jean Plou, mother of the groom, who wore a powder blue ensemble with a hat of bluebird feathers; and Mrs. Callens, Angela's mother, in a dusty pink dress with a white hat. Both wore gardenia corsages. At 1 p.m., 87 friends and relatives of the newly married couple attended a dinner at Staar's Orange Garden. During the meal, Miss Louise Ann Truxaw played several violin solos; George Callens, cousin of the bride, played several numbers on the accordian; and Miss Heinz and Mrs. Faust played and sang. MEMBER OF SORORITY Miss Callens attended Anahiem Union high school, Marywood high School and Fullerton Junior College and Mrs. Ed Hackley and Mrs. Hackley's mother, Mrs. Wetten, all of Anaheim, stayed from Friday to Sunday at Beaumont. Visit Friends At Beach Dr. and Mrs. H. E. Tompkins and daughters, Bernice and Norma Joanne, visited Mr. and Mrs. Elton McKaly at their Balboa beach home from Friday through Sunday. Garden Club In Playday The Anaheim Garden Club will view several beautiful gardens in San Diego June 20. This will be the annual playday. Weekend Near Lake Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee Rogers and daughters, Marilyn and Phyllis, of 755 N. Topeka St., spent the Memorial Day week-end at Lake Cuyamaca near San Diego monutains with four families from Long Beach. Eventful Week-end Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Scholz of 925 N. Philadelphia St., spent a busy week-end. Friday they went to the mountains and spent the day at Gregory Lake. Saturday they witnessed the air races at Santa Anita with Dr. and Mrs. Greenberg of Los Angeles and Sunday, a steakbake dinner was given at the A.C.Ledbetter home, 929 N. Philadelphia St. Following this, the two couples took a drive in the canyon. Breakfast Club Member Los Angeles Breakfast Club members welcomed Mrs. Grace Webber of Anaheim as a new member Sunday morning at the Ambassador Hotel. In the afternoon, Mrs. Webber attended the opening of Music Week at which Rudy Vallee directed 2000 persons. Pinochle Losers Treat Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Van Delden and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Richardson, being the high couples in a recently played pinocchio game, were treated to an enchilada dinner at the La Fonda in Santa Ana by Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nankurgis of Garden Grove, and Mr. and Mrs. Chester L. Barnes, of Anaheim, the losers Sunday evening. Ausburn House Guests Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Ausburn who live on Juanita St. in Cypress had as their house guests over the Memorial Day week-end Mrs. R.V.Hedblom and daughters, Elaine and Eloise, from San Diego; Mrs.Ausburn's mother, Mrs.Lettie Hupp, of Whittier; her brother, Mr. and Mrs.Ed Hackley and Mrs.Hackley's mother, Mrs.Wetten, all of Anaheim, stayed from Friday to Sunday at Beaumont. Trio Entertains 35 Classmates Three junior high school girls were hostesses to their 35 classmates last Wednesday evening at a barbecue supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Saulsberry on Luara Road. The hostesses were Joanne Guss, Jean Marion and Jane Saulsberry. The group danced before and after supper. Japanese lanterns were strung in the yard to give a festive atmosphere. White Temple Bids Lodges To Rites The I.O.O.F. and Rebekah lodges of Anahiem and Fullerton will be guests of honor of the White Temple Methodist church at special services to be conducted next Sunday evening at 7 o'clock. The White Temple pastor, the Rev. Mr. Thomas L. Burden, will preach a special sermon the subject of which is "The Golden Links of Life." Conn and daughter, Muriel, Anaheim Quintette Tours Army Camps A group of five from Anaheim spent the Memorial Day weekend inspecting various army camps up and down the coast. The group included Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Burdick, of 542 S. Clementine St. and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bircher and daughter, Barbara, of 535 S. Dickel St. Starting Friday, they visited Mrs. Bircher's cousin, Corp. Arvid Wagamond, of the 115th Medical division in San Luis Obispo. From there they proceeded up the coast, via San Simeon highway, to Monterey. They then stayed in Salinas until Sunday morning. From Salmas they drove to Fort Ord and to Camp Roberts in San Miguel where they visited Major Ray Smith of Anaheim. He is the fire marshall of Forts Bradley, San Luis Obispo and Roberts. He also does much of the auditing for the camps and is in charge of prisoners. Major Smith took the party through the camp and they were much impressed by the development. The five returned by the Ridge route Sunday evening. WHITE TEMPLE FETES GRADUATES Forty-five students who will be graduated this June from their respective schools were guests of honor at the Annual Graduate breakfast given by the White Temple Methodist church at 8:15 Ebell Club Installs Its New Officers Anaheim’s Ebell Club met for the last time until October on Monday afternoon at the Ebell Clubhouse. A luncheon given by new members and installation of officers followed. Chairmen in charge of the luncheon were Mrs. J. S. Van Wagoner and Ms. C. R. Brandon. Mrs. Beuben Day, of Costa Mesa, who is the federation president of Orange county, installed the officers for the next year. Mrs. Albert L. Raymond is president-elect. A garden scene with an arbor and a white picket fence adorned the stage and the new members, dressed in formalts and holding large bouquets of spring flowers, paused under the arbor as they were installed. About 150 persons attended the closing affair of the Ebell club’s year. In addition to Mrs. Raymond, the newly elected officers who were inducted are: Mrs. C. O. Lewis, second vice president; Mrs. Paul Davidson, corresponding secretary; Mrs. M. L. Fort, recording secretary; Mrs. William P. Hall, treasurer; Mrs. Charles Pearson, auditor; Mrs. H. D. Bonney, superintendent of the Fremont school, and the Rev. Mr. Thomas L. Burden, pastor of the White Temple church, were special guests. Following the breakfast the guests engaged in community singing. Observe Fiftieth Year of Wedding One-hundred and seventy-five guests brought their greetings to Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Fesler, who celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their home on Ball Rd. Sunday afternoon. A telegram arrived Monday which was signed by 15 of Mr. Fesler's former business associates in Longmont, Colorado, where the Feslers lived prior to 1901. He was the owner of a grocery store in Longmont. Hostesses of the celebration were Mrs. Glenn Hipes, of Anaheim, and Mrs. Helen Larimer, of Baldwin Park, daughters of the Feslers. Grandchildren Harold and Bobby Hipes and Lorene Larimer were present. A wedding cake topped with an orchid occupied the center of the table.Many gifts were given corresponding secretary; Mrs. M. L. Methodist Church Promotes 200 Approximately 200 members of the White Temple Methodist church Sunday school were promoted to various grades in the church school at the Annual Promotion day exercises held at 9:30 last Monday morning in the Sanctuary. Services were in charge of Mrs. Mackie Lyon, head of the junior church. Mrs. Lyons also led the Junior choir in a program of sacred music.
