BISHOP McGUCKEN CONFIRMS CLASS OF 225 AT ST. BONIFACE The Sacrament of Confirmation was administered to a class of 225 in services conducted last Sunday afternoon at St. Boniface church by the Most Reverend Joseph T. McGucken, auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Los Angeles. More than 25 visiting clergymen attended the rites. The class included children from St. Boniface parish school and confraternity centers and a number of adult converts to Catholicism. SALUTED BY CHOIR The class entered the church at 3:30 p.m., followed by Bishop McGucken and his attendants and the visiting priests and monsignors. As the procession reached the entrance of the church the choir saluted the prelate with the "Feeds Sacredos Magnus" (Behold the Great High Priest.) After examining the class, Bishop McGucken addressed the sponsors and parents, urging them to uphold Christian standards of justice and charity in social, economic and political life. In closing, the prelate congratulated Father Henry W. Gross, pastor of St. Boniface, on the class presented, and urged the parents and sponsors to foster and nourish in the children the seeds of Christian doctrine inculcated by the priests, sisters and confraternity workers. ATTENDED BY CLERGY The bishop was attended by Father Jeremiah Lehane, pastor of St. Mary's church, Fullerton, as deacon, and Father John Callaghan, pastor of St. Joseph's church, Santa Ana, as sub-deacon.
