Mr. and Mrs. John Daum of Eldon
Observance Held
At Family Home
Tuesday Afternoon
Tuesday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. John Daum celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home on Euclid Ave. with their immediate family, relatives and old friends that witnessed their marriage in Oshkosh, Wis., on May 28, 50 years ago.
One hundred and ten guests came during the day for the open house celebration. A large supper was served in the late afternoon and beautiful golden roses, a wedding cake, tall candles and little gold statuaries decorated the table.
Among those present were Mrs. Anna Elier of Los Angeles, who saw the couple marry at Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. H. S. McGregor, of Anaheim; Art Daum of Chicago, who is a son of the Daums; Mrs. Frahm of Anaheim, daughter, and her daughter, Patricia Anne. Others came from Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Bakersfield and Orange.
Rev. Schmelzer conducted the ceremony in the afternoon. The Ladies Aid Society, of which Mrs. Daum is a member, came as a group to visit the couple.
Sam Walkers Hosts At Unusual Party
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Walker held a novel dinner Sunday night at their home on Grand Ave. It was a Chinese dinner party with Chinese candles, favors and food.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stankey, son, Ed, daughter, Mrs. Myrtla Saunders and her children, Roy and Betty, enjoyed a picnic at Laguna Sunday afternoon.
Shower in Whittier
A layette shower honoring Mrs. William Hardman, 405 S. Rose St., will be given this Saturday night at Mrs. Alice Lawrence's home in Whittier. Among those attending from Anaheim will be Mrs. Ernst Steffins and Mrs. Fred Bentjen.

Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Smith, 512 N. Bush St., gave a dinner Sunday evening for the South and Lawler families of Los Angeles. Following the dinner, the guests adjourned to Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas South's home at 419 N. East St., for the evening.
Bethel Baptist Picnic
Members of the Bethel Baptist church and their guests will hold a picnic at Irvine Park Friday. Two hundred persons are expected to attend the potluck. Walter Shroeder is in charge of the all day affair, with Joe Quast in charge of games and Carl Remland and Harry Fox heading the refreshment committee.

Miss Wilma Watts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Watts, who has been living in Indio, visited her parents at 825 W. Broadway St., Friday. Saturday, she spent the day at Glendale and on Sunday attended a dinner at the Gerald Watts' at Midway City. Also present were her parents and Mrs. Gerald Watts' father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Sterlin Price.
Crestline Visit
Mr. and Mrs. George Watts were guests Monday at the J. R. Watt home at Crestline. Miss Katharine Crawford was there on the day.

Sam Walkers Hosts At Unusual Party
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Walker held a novel dinner Sunday night at their home on Grand Ave. It was a Chinese dinner party with Chinese candles, favors and food.
Six tables of contract bridge followed the dinner and the guests came in fromal dress. Winners of the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Griggs, first prize; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Glover, second prize; and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Heffern, third prize. Consolation prize went to Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Cone.
Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Fayette Birtcher, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Barnett, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harman, Mr. and Mrs. Cortez Hoskins, Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Elliott and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lemcke.
Miss Pibel Attends Yosemite Convention
In a recent meeting at which was celebrated the 19th birthday, the Business and Professional Women's club of Anaheim chose Miss Marjorie Pibel as delegate to attend the Yosemite convention held last week end at Yosemite.
Miiss Pibel arrived Friday at the conference and stayed until Sunday night. Through the day, regular business sessions were held and on Saturday evening there was a banquet attended by 700 persons. The speaker was Mrs. Alice Manning, national legislative chairman, who spoke on "Inner Flame." The general theme was "Women and Defense."
On Sunday morning, a breakfast was given along with a "March of Time" program, showing the advancement of the organization from 1919, when it began, to the present year.
Mrs. M. F. Andrade Honored At Picnic
Mrs. M. F. Andrade, wife of Captain Marcus Andrade of the Anaheim police department, was honored last Sunday with a picnic at the Anaheim city park by all of her immediate family.
One of her grandsons arranged a pink and blue corsage for her picnic.

Leaving Saturday for three months, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Walker and daughter, Sue, of 323 E. Alberta St., will lease an apartment at Seal Beach.
Ten Days at San Diego
Mrs. W. H. Wallin, 816 S. Claudina, traveled to San Diego Mother’s Day and stayed with her son, Bob, for ten days, returning last week.
P.E.O. Has Picnic Tuesday in City Park
Co-hostessing the P.E.O. Sisterhood picnic Tuesday at the Anaheim city park were Mrs. J. L.Vander Veer and Mrs.Marion Shafer.
Twenty-five members of the club attended and after the picnic they went to Mrs.' Henry Adams' home on 515 N.Clementine St.for a business meeting.
Entertainment was furnished by Mr.Marquit of Santa Ana, who sang several solos and Miss Velma Witt, also of Santa Ana, who played the piano.
This was the last meeting of the club until October.

Birthday Party Held At Brunemeier Home
A dinner party honoring Mrs. Edward H. Brunemeier and little Lloyd Stockwell was given Thursday evening at Mrs. Brunemeier's home in Placentia. Miss Lois Brunemeier also announced her wedding date of June 27. Those from Anaheim were Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Stockwell, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stockwell and two sons, Glenn and one of the honored guests, Lloyd.
Dental Auxiliary Installs Officers
Mrs. John Boege and Mrs. W. C. McCarthy were installed as vice president and secretary, respectively, of the Orange County Dental auxiliary at a luncheon meeting held yesterday at Hotel Laguna. New president of the auxiliary is Mrs. G. Stanley Norton of Santa Ana.
Mrs. C. P. Tompkins and Mrs. C. W. Schutz were in charge of corsages and door prizes for the meeting.

Lois Thimble Club Installs Officers
Mrs. Irene Peacock entertained members of the Lois Thimble club with a potluck luncheon at her home at 324 S. West St., Friday.
Twenty-four persons were present to watch Mrs. Berthyle Reisinger and Miss Barbara Myer install the newly elected officers in a clever manner. The new officers are president, Mrs. Maybelle Spencer; first vice president, Mrs. Charlotte Hodges; second vice president, Mrs. Bessie Curtis; secretary, Mrs. Edna Kruse; and treasurer, Mrs. Elsie Borth. The door prize went to Mrs. Hodges.
The next meeting of the club will be at the home of Mrs. Borth at 707 W. Broadway on June 27.
Mrs. Mollie Eickholt Hostess Wednesday
Meeting every fourth Wednesday of every month, the Nutwood Neighborhood club gathered this Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Mollie Eickholt, 519 Indiana St., for a potluck luncheon.
The club has a membership of 20 and spends its afternoons quilting, sewing and visiting. Those who were at Mrs. Eickholt's were Mrs. J. E. Baker, Mrs. Walter Fluge, Mrs. Richard Regan, Mrs. Frank Bell, Mrs. Sarah Gust, Mrs. Frank Wick, Mrs. Olin Cramer, Mrs. Frank Hildebrand, Mrs. Rudolph Schwartzbach, Miss Mollie Eickholt, Mrs. Mamie Eickholt, Mrs. Walter Walten, Mrs. C. Eastern Trip
Mr. and Mrs. George W.Shir Jr., left today for Washington D.C., by train. They will be at Detroit for a car and will piece from there to visit Sloop's brother, Marshall Bees who is a navy aviator.

Reveals Bethrothal
To Laurence Schnell
Miss Olive Jean Campbell of the Biltmore apartments announced formally her engagement to Laurence W. Schnell of Filer, Idaho, to a group of friends at a dinner party Saturday night. It was given in the Monterey Room of Clifton's cafeteria in Los Angeles by Mrs. William Campbell, mother of the bride-to-be.
The announcement came as a surprise to the group who had gathered to celebrate the birthday of Mr. Schnell.
Following the dinner, Mrs. Harvey Penterast of Santa Ana, a girlhood chum of Miss Campbell, sang "Apple Blossom Time," during which the announcement was made. Tiny scholls containing a verse, together with apple blossoms were concealed in inflated balloons of pastel colors. These were placed among the flowers which formed the table decoration. When the balloons were unexpectedly pricked, apple blossoms and scrolls went showering over the table and the guests.
After the formal announcement, a varied program of humorous readings were given by Mrs. Ed Anderson and Wilbur Simmons. Also birthday gifts were presented to Mr. Schnell. Miss Campbell and Mr. Schnell sang "The End of a Perfect Day" for their guests, after which a closing prayer was offered by Miss Emilie Stauffer, preceptress and instructor at
CHILDREN PRESENT RECITAL PROGRAM
Dorothy Pratt and her kindergarten pupils gave a recital at the Melrose Abbey chapel Saturday evening.
A total of 52 numbers were given to the public with 33 pupils participating.

Catherine Heinz To Receive Degree
Following in her mother's footsteps. Miss Catherine Heinz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Heinz, 525 S. West St., will receive the degree of bachelor of arts at the commencement exercises at Rosary college, River Forest, Ill., on June 2. Her mother, the former Genevieve Rolling, is also a graduate.
Shower Complimented Miss Margaret Heinz
A kitchen shower honoring Margaret Hein was given evening at the Herman Gust on Nutwood Ave. The three tesses of the affair were Thomas Bunnell, Mrs. Jacknell and Mrs. Herschel Welte.
Spring flowers decorated home and games were played; refreshments were served; prizes were won by Miss Gust, Miss Grace Hein and Albert Peter.

Catherine Heinz To Receive Degree
Following in her mother's footsteps. Miss Catherine Heinz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Heinz, 525 S. Miss Heinz is a graduate of Anaheim union high school and at Rosary did her major work in the library science department. Throughout her college career, she has been a leader in all campus activities, having served as chairman of the water pageant in her junior year, and holding membership in the Student Government association, Rosary guild, Le Cercle Fleur de Lis, Athletic association, Catholic Evidence guild, as well as writing the society column for The Rosarian, campus newspaper.
Shipkey And Pearson Employees Picnic
A picnic was given Sunday at the Rimpau ranch in Capistrano for all plant employees of Shipkey and Pearson, Inc. Miss Marjorie Clark was the hostess of the affair.
After a delicious baked ham dinner, the group danced, hiked and played baseball.

Miss Margaret Hein
A kitchen shower honoring Miss Margaret Hein was given Friday morning at the Herman Gust home in Nutwood Ave. The three hosts of the affair were Mrs. Thomas Bunnell, Mrs. Jack Bunnel and Mrs. Herschel Welty.
Spring flowers decorated the home and games were played before refreshments were served. Zones were won by Miss Violent West, Miss Grace Hein and Mrs. Robert Peter.
Those who attended were the honored guest, Miss Hein, Misses Margaret Musch, Maxine Bunnell, Clyte and Jean Schneider, Mrs. E. Gust, Miss Grace Welty, Misslet Gust, Miss Jerry Garner, Ms. Wesley Hein, Miss Anaelaire Guerhian, Mrs. Peter, Miss Ruth Nelson, Mrs. Walter Lotze, Mrs. P. Weaver, Mrs. Fred Hess, Mrs. C. Hein, the Misses Barbara Lee Hin, Lois and Beth Brunemeier, Den Fries, Margaret Elsner, Alta Maass and the hostesses.

Will Attend Party
Seventeen young men and women of Orangethorpe grammar school will attend a dinner and bow in Los Angeles tomorrow evening. Commencement exercises are scheduled for June 5.
P. H. Pendleton, principal at Orangethorpe and eighth grade instructor, will accompany the group to the city. The group includes Henry Boisseranc, Dale Bowling Contestant Visits in Anaheim
Among those persons coming from the East to take part in the bowling contest in Los Angeles, is Miss Merle Kintner of Binghamton, N.Y., and a member of the Binghamton Recreation Bowling team.
Miss Kintner is a niece of Mrs. Tom Rainey of La Palma Ave. She is accompanied by another niece, Miss Marie Place.
Mr. and Mrs. Rainey will entertain the two at a dinner Friday evening at her home with her son and his wife, Mr. Land Mrs. George Rainey.
On Saturday, the same group with added guests, Miss Bessie Clenton of Bellflower and Miss Ethel Lewis of Temple City, will examine the mission at Capistrano. Following this; thye will troupe to San Diego and Tia Juana.
On Sunday the two nieces and the Raineys will attend the air races at Santa Anita.
Webster Benefit Club Has Meeting
Twelve members of the Webster Benefit club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ray Herr on Ball Rd.
This club was organized in July of last year. They meet once each month and their purpose is to benefit their own community. A potluck at the home of Mrs. Haman will be the next meeting.
