Eye appeal in food is the main factor in arousing the sometimes sluggish early summer appetite. Often the least experienced cook can form an interesting meal simply by adding some simple garnish that is ordinarily forgotten. Have you ever noticed the attractive dishes pictured in magazines? If you have you will remember that they were arranged in such a manner as to attract your attention. They are arranged so beautifully that your thoughts immediately tell you that they must taste even more delicious than they look. A woman's biggest problem is getting her family to eat the food that is good for them. Theoretically she must sell each and every meal to them just as surely as the advertiser in that magazine must sell his product to her. The advertiser first attracts your attention. If it looks good enough, he knows you may buy from him. How about your family? Haven't you heard remarks about meals where you have used extra pains in garnishing and planning perhaps an otherwise rather dull menu? Many times it is just the arrangement and combining of colorful foods that arouse the appetite through the eye appeal. For instance a large broiled steak in the center of the plate wint fresh garden peas on one side and golden bantam whole kernel corn on the other side forms an interesting plate to tempt any appetite. Restaurants have specialized in selling food for many years. In most of these that have a large business it is noticed that every dish has some form of service that is different from anything else you may have seen. Restaurants not only attempt to change the looks of everyday foods, but even go so far as to give it a new name. Foreign War auxiliary last Wednesday met at the home of Mr. Cecile Carr, 719 S. Emily St., a sewing circle meeting. The sewed wheel-chair robes and knitted socks for the men at Sawtown hospital. The auxiliary plans to take care of the making of wreaths to place the graves on Memorial Day, we formerly done by the Women Relief Corps. The group will poppies Saturday. The new officers are honored queen, Margaret Hoskins of Fullerton; senior princess, Barbara Lemke of Placentia; junior princess, Margaret Albin of Anaheim; guide, Barbara Cross of Anaheim; and marshal, Beverly Bowen of Anaheim. Refreshments were served following the meeting and were planned by Barbara Lemke. Browers Attend Shrine Band Party Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Brower of Anaheim attended the Al Malaiikah band dinner party at the dinner party at the Riviera county club in Los Angeles Tuesday evening. Mr. Brower is a member of the band. Nearly 100 persons were present. Restaurants have specialized in selling food for many years. In most of these that have a large business it is noticed that every dish has some form of service that is different from anything else you may have seen. Restaurants not only attempt to change the looks of everyday foods, but even go so far as to give it a new name. They find with this method that people who would not eat certain vegetables are, shall we say, hoodwinked, into it. Of course, a woman’s task is even harder than that of any restaurant because she must feed several people from the same menu. Naturally in a restaurant each person has more of a selection as to what he wants. In any case, though camouflage is the best method of attack in stimulating the appetite. Make each meal a masterpiece of art, science, and try to fool them every time. If they don’t like carrots make the carrots look like mashed candied sweet potatoes. If they don’t like salad LEE'S For POTTED PLANTS SHRUBS — ROSES BEDDING PLANTS INSECTICIDES — FERTILIZERS Our Prices Always Right LEE TRADING CO. 718 South Los Angeles St. Anaheim, Calif.
