CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH WINS HONORS AT ASSOCIATION MEETING
Largest net gain in membership in the Santa Ana Valley Baptist association was one of the honors won by the Calvary Baptist church of Anaheim during the district meeting in Santa Ana last Friday. The Anaheim church also had the largest percentage gain of baptisms during the year.
Calvary Baptist church received further honors when its pastor, Rev. Earl R. Berg, was elected to the office of vice moderator of the Santa Ana Valley association. R. J. Dugdale was elected secretary of the laymen's organization of the association.
Further honors came to the church at the Associational Women's meeting held in Orange Tuesday, when for the fourth consecutive year, the Calvary church won the reading contest conducted by the women among the members of the local church. Twenty four women from the Anaheim church attended the meeting. Mrs. Ted Seims, reading chairman for the church, received the candelabrum presented each year to the society winning the reading contest.

Mrs. Ruth Wilson, president of the Women's Union of Calvary church, was re-elected treasurer of the Associational Women's organization.

Rev. G. Carroll Rector will preach a Mother’s Day sermon at 11 a.m. worship hour Sunday. At 7 p.m., Mrs. Simeon Shaw of Dallas Texas, will give an inspirational chalk talk. She is an artist who has appeared in many large churches and received wide acclaim for her messages.
Funeral Rites Held For Timbrook Boy
Funeral services for Jerry R. Timbrook, two-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Berry Timbrook, were conducted at the graveside in Anaheim cemetery Saturday afternoon. Backs, Campbell & Kaulbars was in charge of arrangements. The infant died Friday.

"Mothers Wanted" is the subject of the sermons Rev. Stanley Frederick George will give at the 9 and 11 a.m. services Sunday. A program appropriate to Mother's Day will be conducted by Youth Council members at 7 p.m. Marilyn Rogers and Betty Ross will be in charge.
CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE
Special Mother's Day services will be conducted in the Bible school at 9:30 a.m., and at 11 a.m. the pastor, Rev. J. W. Henry, will speak on the subject, "Mother Companionships for Life's Journey." At 7:30 p.m. the sermon subject will be "A Glorious Invitation."
GRACE LUTHERAN
"The Postive Influence of the Christian Home," a Mother's Day theme, will be Rev. C. H. S. Hunziker's sermon subject at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The pastor will speak in the evening on the topic "Sing Unto the Lord."
WHITE TEMPLE METHODIST
Rev. Thomas L. Burden's subject for the 10:45 a.m. service will be "Mothers Yesterday and Today. Youth meetings will be held at 6 p.m., with a varied Mother's Day program planned at 7 p.m.
CALVARY BAPTIST
The Mother's Day service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, with Rev. Earl R. Berg preaching on the subject, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine." The pastor's theme at the 7:30 p.m. service will be, "Will the Church Triumph?"

"Adam and Fallen Man" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon on Sunday in all Churches of Christ, Scientist. The Golden Text is from Romans: If by one man's offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ."

"The Kingdom Within" is the subject chosen by Rev. H. G. Dymmel for his sermon in the English language Sunday morning. His German language sermon will be on the theme. "His Mother Was." During the evening service, Rey. Dymmel will speak on the topic, "Rock of Ages."

Brought Closer Anaheim Man

Indicative of boom conditions now prevailing in southern California, due to the stimulus of the national defense program, the 1941 budget for the company as a whole is the largest in several years, Merker said. He estimates the company will be required to spend in excess of $2,000,000 during the year.
A considerable portion of this sum will be spent for main extensions and connections to serve the 10,000 new customers who are expected to be added this year. Last year, he stated, the company gained 9,419 meters, which represents the largest number of meters added in any one year since the mid 20's.
COLUMBIA CHURCH PROGRAM ANNOUNCED
The Columbia Church of the Air on Sunday morning will be presented by Philip S. Barto, under the auspices of the Christian Science Committee on Publication for Ohio. The program will be released in southern California over KNX from 9 to 9:30 a.m., Pacific standard time.

Dr. Verne Jackson To Join RAF Staff
Still on duty as internee at Los Angeles county hoisting his call to active with the medical corps of the Irish Royal Air Force is Dr. Verne Jackson, son of Mrs. Clyde Jackson of Broadway.
Dr. Jackson, a graduate of heim union high school and College of Osteopathic Physiology and Surgeons in Los Angeles, one of 12 young doctors who unteered for service with the corps last week. He does not wait when he will be summoned.
