Annual Anaheim Ebell Club F
Opening Day's Interest in Event Pleases Club Women
Plans for the annual Ebell club Flower Show developed into reality this afternoon when the doors of the Ebell club house opened to the public. Judging, by Mrs. Gene Frantz, flower club president, of the many entries under the different classifications started at 10 a.m.
Classifications consisted of: section A—roses; section B—sweet peas; section C—annuals and perennials; section D—bulbs; section E—camelias, azelias, gardenneas, strelitzia regina, orchids, bletias, and epidendrum; section F—cacti and succulents; section G—flower arrangement; section H—miniatures; section I—miscellaneous; section J men's division; section K—new and unusual exhibits; and section L—school exhibits.
Among these classifications, the men's division an dthe division for new and unusual exhibits have aroused much interest. Today the public was privileged to see them for the first time. The section for orchids and others of the rare varieties have also caused much discussion.
For the entertainment this afternoon, the Richards Martin school presented a Maypole program. This evening Charles Pearson will open the show with a public welcome. Music for tonight will be provided by the Trouveres and Miss Marilyn Heinz, who will sing. Friday afternoon a kiddies style show will be presented by Mrs. James Kilduff of the Children's
EBELL MEMBERS ATTEND MEETING
Several members of the Ebell club attended the convention of the Federation of Women's clubs held at Laguna Beach last week. Election of officers and a talk by Miss Florence Monohan, superintendant of the women's prison at Tehachapi formed the afternoon's entertainments.
Among those attending were Mrs. Fred Weisel, Mrs. Ralph Focht, Mrs. L. C. Herron, Mrs. Earl Phillips, Mrs. Howard Watts, Mrs. J. H. Beatty, Mrs. C. O. Lewis, Mrs. L. M. Pickel, Mrs. Albert Raymond, Mrs. C. A. Neighbors, and Mrs. D. Jerry Youngs.
Family Reunion Held At Cooper Home
Mrs. Elvena Cooper entertained with a family reunion in honor of her mother, Mrs. J. M. Carpenter of Fullerton, at her home at 405 E. Adele St., Sunday. Mrs. Carpenter is leaving soon on an eastern trip.
The reunion was held in Mrs. Cooper's back yard and took the form of a picnic. Many of the guests had not been together for many years. Mrs. Cooper used roses on the table as her only decorations.
Those present were Mary Belle, Ruby, Lee and Emmett Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Higgins, and daughter, Linda, and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Strawn and daughters Kathleen and Virginia, all of Los Angeles.
Majorie Pibel Installed as Head Of B.P.W. Club
Small Maypoles alternating from glass baskets filled with sweet peas and baby breath canned forth the theme of the Business and Professional Women's club installation at the dinner held Thursday evening.
The dinner was preceded by a moment of silent prayer for peace and the reciting of the club collection Guests were introduced by Mrs. Mable Hathaway, club president. The dinner was served by Ebe members. The music for the evening was provided by Mrs. Alice Rodeffer, who directed three young people from the music department of the Santa Ana junior college. They were Virginia Claypool, soprano soloist, John Stout, violinist, and Ruth Paulen accompanist.
The installation ceremonial was conducted by Miss Ethel M. Cochman, Santa Ana president of the B. and P. W. club. She used the Maypole ceremony for installation Officers installed were Miss Majorie Pibel, president; Miss Irene Case, vice president; Mrs. Ron Van Buren, treasurer; Miss Beulah Hineman, recording secretary and Mrs. Bernice Miles, correspondent secretary. Miss Pibel also appointed the following department chairmen: Miss Beulah Hineman, publicity; Miss Ru Starr, programs; Miss Alice Wiliamson, membership Mrs. Babell Hathaway, finance; Miss Bob Anderson, legislation; Mrs. Ma
Hilgenfeld Home Scene of Shower
Places marked with blue and pink and white candies, and tables centered with a small shoe filled with baby roses and for-get-me-nots carried out the baby motif at a shower given in honor of Mrs. Ted Kornweibel of Pasadena by Mrs. Robert S. Farrar of Santa Ana at the home of Mrs. Farrar's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Hilgenfeld, 120 E. Broadway, Saturday afternoon.
Flowers sent by Mrs. Hans Wagner and Mrs. Reece H. Green of Santa Ana and Mrs. M. D. Hilgenfeld and Hulda Granere were beautifully arranged by Mrs. M. D. Hilgenfeld for the occasion and placed about the room. "Old Man Stork," also made his appearance among the small animals placed here and there among the floral decorations.
"Stork," was the afternoon's diversion with prizes going to Mrs. C. E. Earl and Mrs. M. D. Hilgenfeld. At the conclusion of the game many daintily wrapped packages were opened by Mrs. Kornweibel. Mrs. Louis Dunn of Pasadena was also surprised when she was presented with a baby book by the group.
Mrs. Farrar was assisted by her mother, Mrs. S. F. Hilgenfeld, her sister, Mrs. Harvey C. Nunn, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. M. D. Hilgenfeld.
Invited guests were Mrs. Ted Kornweibel of Pasadena, Mrs. F. G. Eschbach, mother of the honored guest, of South Pasadena, Mrs. Walter Eschbach of South Pasadena, Miss Elizabeth Earl, Mrs. C. E. H.E.Davis Marks 72nd Anniversary
H.E.Davis, 128 S.Olive St., was feted with a surprise birthday party and dinner at his home Sunday on his 72nd birthday. The day was spent visiting and reminiscing with friends and relatives.
Those present were Mrs.A.R.Hylton and her two daughters of Riverside, Mr. and Mrs.L.A.Shannon of Venice, William Davis of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs.B.Haven of Burbank, Mrs.Marion MacIntosh and daughter from Garden Grove and the honored guest.
MRS.MCULLAH SPEAKS TO CLUB
The Presbyterian Mothers club met Tuesday evening in the blue room of the church with 20 members and friends attending.
Mrs.Charles Pearson was program chairman for the evening. Her guest speaker was Mrs.Katherine McCullah, who spoke on "Music and the Personality Development of the Pre-School Child." Hostesses for the evening were Mrs.Charles Hunt and Mrs.Ray Reafsynder.
Guests were Mrs.E.T.Bradley, Mrs.Joe Critchfield, Mrs.S.L.Keith, Mrs.Stewart Streshly and Mrs.Richard Glover.
Thomas Home Scenes Of Housewarming
A surprise house warming was given in honor of William Thomas, John Thomas and their sister, Mrs.Jessie Luchsinger, 45 post office employees at their new home at corner of North and East Street Saturday evening.
William Thomas has been with the postal service for 23 years and has been with the Anahale office for 10 years. The party planned by Mrs.Luthern Strand and Mrs.L.Hoskins in behalf of the post office auxiliary.
Evening was spent playing organized games under the direct of Mr. and Mrs.William Zeigler and Mr. and Mrs.Carlton Barthemes. Refreshments were served by Mrs.Hoskins, Mrs.Kennedy Snyder, Mrs.Henry Baxter and Mrs.Strain.
Girls Club Active At Three Events
Recent activities of the Omni Chi Theta Rho girls club team of Santa Ana included fancy drill for the Sycamore Rebekah lodge Saturday event at which Marilyn Rogers played several numbers on her accordion.The girls club also initiated a club at Compton Wednesday evenings and installed the officers of the Pasadena club Thursday evenings at Covina.
Raineys Hosts at Birthday Dinner
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O. Rainey of West La Palma, entertained with a dinner party Sunday in honor of Mrs. Charles Kilts of Los Angeles, who was celebrating her birthday.
The house was attractively decorated with flowers arrangements made of gladiolas, roses, calla lilies and nasturiums. The dinner was served from a long table exquisitely appointed in pastel shades of pink and green on a beautiful lace cloth. The honored guest cut the delicious birthday cake which was decorated with pink roses and the words, "happy birthday," written on it in icing.
After opening her gifts Mrs. Kilts was complimented by her hostess, who read an original poem dedicated to her.

Former Residents Visit
George Blewett and his mother, Mrs. Edna Blewett of Hollywood, former residents of Anaheim, were to town Saturday on a brief business trip.
Convention Delegates

Visit Luther Hamon
Mrs. Luther Hamon and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hamon of 116 S.Vine St., visited Luther Hamon, who has been confined at the Good Samaritan hospital in Los Angeles since March 27.
Mrs. Wallop Ill
Mrs. Martha Wallop was confined to the St. Joseph hospital Saturday and will be there for a couple of weeks. It is reported that her condition is greatly improved and that she may have visitors.

Letter from Capt. Peck
Capt. Kenneth Peck writes from Fort Benning, Georgia, that draftees who have only had one month of training built a pontoon bridge in 41½ minutes. A foot bridge was built in ten minutes over a river 325 feet wide.

Teacher's Mother Dies
at the Broadway school, passed E.
Mrs. Frank Johnson, mother of Miss Gertrude Anderson, teacher at the Broadway school, passed away suddenly Sunday at the family home in Los Angeles. She had been ill only a short time with the flu.
Gregorys Expect Guests
Mrs. Fred Gregory, 501 E. Broadway, expects her brother-in-law, F. L. Patton, and friend, Albert Meadows, from Mare Island over the weekend. Mrs. Patton and daughters are making their home in Anaheim.

Walter Elliott of Anaheim was elected vice president of the Orange County Young Adult Fellowship at a rally held at the First Methodist church of Santa Ana, Tuesday evening.

M.T. A. Council Officers Installed at Meeting Friday
Mrs. Arthur Lindell was reinstalled as president of the Anaheim Council of Parents and teachers at the meeting held at the home of Mrs. Everett Wood, D.S. Citron St., Friday evening.
Mrs. B. E. Baumbach, former president of the council, was inducting officer. She used a floral ceremony in installing Mrs. Lindell and her staff. Following the installation Mrs. Lindell was pre-printed with a bouquet, and a bush for her garden in appreciation of her interest in the organization.
Officers installed were Mrs. Lindell, president; Mrs. W. E. Belton, first vice president; Mrs. Dan Crain, second vice president; Mrs. Carlton Starr, recording secretary; Mrs. T. H. Harrison, corresponding secretary; Mrs. George Graham, treasurer; Mrs. Wayne Biggs, auditor; Mrs. John Jenkins, historian; and Mrs. W. H. Conney, parliamentarian.

HARRY MOORES ENTERTAIN CLASS
Mr. and Mrs. Harry H. Moore entertained the Service class of the Wesley Methodist church at their home Friday evening. The evening was spent transacting class business and with a social hour. Mrs. Moore served refreshments.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Elliott, Mrs. Herman Ramsey, Mrs. Dean Aiken, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Whittman of Santa Ana, and the host and hostess.

Mrs. Albert Raymond left Tuesday morning for the state convention of the Federation of Women's clubs at San Jose. She will return Saturday.
Eastern Star Card Party Successful
Between 20 and 25 tables were in play at the Eastern Star Card party, Tuesday evening in the Masonic Temple.
Door prizes went to Mrs. Gene Frantz, Mrs. Margaret Fentress, Mrs. Louise Dahlman, E.E.Joyner, and Mrs.Ida Ackerman of Long Beach. Bridge prizes went to Mrs. Earl Woodward, Mrs.T.J.Hirigoyen, G.Keister, and William Launders. Five hundred prizes went to Mrs.Linnie Campbell, Miss Grace Hirigoyen, George Erhle, and A.C.Miller.
Refreshments were served by Mrfs.J.B.Hasty, chairman of the committee, and she was assisted by Mrs.Mayme Stafford, Mrs.Yuarda Akerman, and Mrs.Earl Baum.
The refreshment table was beautifully appointed with begonias.
