Five Girls Share Hostess Honor 175 Guests Present At Gala Event in Ebell Clubhouse The formal dancing party given last Friday evening at Anaheim Ebell clubhouse by five Anaheim union high school senior girls was one of the largest and most enjoyable social events for young people of Anaheim this season. The hostesses were Miss Rennette Hansen, Miss Joyce Ann Hayes, Miss Jean Louise Sutherland, Miss Mary Lea Juszkiewicz, and Miss Victoria Loly, and more than 175 guests were present. Miss Hansen was gowned in an aqua blue net with a full skirt. The bodice of her gown was trimmed in gold sequins and dthis color was accentuated by her gold sandals. She wore mystery gardenias in her hair. Miss Hayes was attired in a white net gown with the black trim of the full skirt picking up the black lace bodice. She wore red roses in her hair. Miss Juszkievicz wore a white net with a full skirt and the bodice of her gown was trimmed in chantilli lace. This was accentuated with a red carnation and velvet necklace and bracelet. Miss Loly was gowned in a shell pink chiffon lace the bodice of which was trimmed in blue and pink flowers. She wore camillias in her hair. Miss Sutherland was dressed in a charming white net with a full skirt and the bodice was trimmed in silver stitching and rhine stones. The Ebell club ballroom was decorated with palms for the reception given for newly-wedding guests. A reception in honor of the recent marriage of Miss Bernice McDaniels, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McDaniels of Amarillo, Texas, and Jack Baumann, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Baumann of Orange road, in Yuma, Arizona, Apirl 6, was held Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Baumann. The house was beautifully decorated for the occasion with vines and spring flowers carrying out a pink and white color scheme. The new bride cut the first piece of her wedding cake and shared it with her husband. Mrs. Fred Smith of Santa Ana and Mrs. Jack Groff of Buean Park finished cutting the cake and serving the 75 guests who were present. Miss Lavada Cope, and Miss Helen Stout presided at the punch bowl. Miss Winifred Ahlstrom and Miss Opal Stout cared for the gifts. At their marriage the bride and groom were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stout of Santa Ana. The bride wore a beige suit trimmed in brown and with matching accessories. The bride is a graduate of high school in Amarillo, Texas, while her husband is a graduate of Anaheim Union high school. Since his graduation the bridegroom has operated a trucking business. Eleanor Marsh Becomes Bride of Jack Royalty An altar created of white flowers and candelabra and arranged in a recessed window, formed the setting for the wedding of Miss Eleanor Marsh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. LeRoy Marsh and Jack Royalty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Royalty, 718 North Claudina St., Friday afternoon at the Marsh home, 300 N. Janss St. Rev. Virgil Ledbetter of Colton, former pastor of Calvary Baptist church of this city, officiated at the single ring ceremony. Miss Lois Smith played a prelude of wedding music on the piano. The bride wore a white taffeta gown, with velvet nosegays appliqued on it. The gown was styled with a tight bodice and full skirt depicting the styles so popular in former years. Her finger-tip veil was caught with a seed pearl cap borrowed from her sister, Mrs. Walter Nankervis (Anita Schwager). To complete the "nineties," picture was the bride's nosegay bouquet fashioned of white roses, lilies of the valley and forget-me-nots. She carried an exquisite lace handkerchief, the gift of the bridegroom's mother. At her throat was a blue locket worn by her mother on her wedding day. A reception followed the ceremony. Joining the newlyweds in a March and Mr. and Mrs. Royalty, Mrs. Marsh was gowned in a black Mrs. March was gowned in a balck lace gown and Mrs. Royalty wore a teal blue lace formal. Each wore chantilli lace. This was accentuated with a red carnation and velvet necklace and bracelet. Miss Loly was gowned in a shell pink chiffon lace the bodice of which was trimmed in blue and pink flowers. She wore camillias in her hair. Miss Sutherland was dressed in a charming white net with a full skirt and the bodice was trimmed in silver stitching and rhine stones. The Ebell club ballroom was decorated with palms for the occasion and the stage was banked with palms, fern, and spring flowers in pastel shades. From the chandelier clusters of pastel colored balloons were hung. During the evening the hostesses and their escorts led the grand march. Two specialty dances were enjoyed; the lemon dance and the circle dance. Music was provided by "Gabby" Garabedian. The young women were assisted by their mothers, Mrs. Alfred H. Hansen, Mrs. James F. Sutherland, Mrs. Bessie Juszkievicz, Mrs. Victor Loly, and Mrs. Fred L. Hayes. Floral arrangements were by Wayne Andrade. Door prizes were won by Wally Duffy, Gilbert Johnson, Carolyn Serrell, Barbara Pierpoint and Jim Wilson. The beautifully appointed refreshment table was placed in the lounge. The center-piece was of pastel spring flowers and the pastel cocktail napkins had the five girls' names written in gold upon them. Miss Mabel Hansen Feted at Shower Miss Mabel Hansen was honored with a personal shower given for her by Miss Marie West at her home at 751 Zeyn St., Friday evening. The house was decorated with spring flowers. The evening was spent playing bridal guessing games, the prizes going to Mrs. William McCamm, the honored guest's grandmother, Mrs. Ralph Chance, and Miss Leila Brown. Those present were Mrs. Jim Downey, Mrs. T. F. Hansen, the honored guest's mother, Miss Alice Hansen, Miss Virginia Mather, Miss Ethel Mathis, Miss Eloise Forsytle, Miss Delight Focht, Miss Leila Brown, Mrs. Bruce Jensen, Mrs. Joe Kaska, Mrs. Ralph Chance, Miss Elizabeth Hunziker, Mrs. Floyd West, the honored guest and the hostess. Baseball Game Party’s Highlight John P. Mary III was honored with a party on his fifth birthday Saturday given by his mother, Mrs. John P. Mary, Jr., at the family home. For the first part of the afternoon games were played at home with Don Schilling, Bobby Smith, Joan Koch and Freddy Wagner winning the prizes. After these games, the guests all went to the park where they enjoyed a good game of baseball with such celebrities as Clyde Shoun's nephew, John P. Mary III, and Floyd "Arkie" Vaughan's nephews, Jon and Freddy Wagner, taking part. Following the baseball game the group returned to John's home where he opened his gifts, among which he received many baseball articles. Refreshments were served in the yard from a table decorated in spring rainbow colors. Rainbow lolly pops and rainbow gum drops took the place of nut cups. Those present were Mrs. Gary Legroff who assisted Mrs. Mary, John Legroff, Joan Koch, Dick and Don Schilling, Jon and Fred Wagner, Norman and Eugene Carl, Patsy Booth, Bill Schaesler, Larry Zables, Bobby Smith, Barbara Mary, the honored guest's sister, Richard Hollingsworth, the honored guest and hostess. Sigma Phi Sorority Has Combined Event The Ebell clubhouse was the scene of the Sigma Phi sorority combination open house and home-coming, Sunday afternoon. In the absence of Edna Dreyer of Fullerton, Betty Taggert presided over the home-coming, which was attended by more than 100 guests and old members. Decorations were carried out in the South American theme, using a center piece of pineapples, bananas and banana leaves on the tea table. Large taper candles were also used. Virginia Chandler had charge of the decorations. Tea was bride wore a beige suit trimmed in brown and with matching accessories. The bride is a graduate of high school in Amarillo, Texas, while her husband is a graduate of Anaheim Union high school. Since his graduation the bridegroom has operated a trucking business. After a honeymoon trip to Lebec and Arvin the new Mr. and Mrs. Royalty returned to their home at 318 S. Lemon St. Mrs. Royalty was graduated from Anaheim union high school. Fullerton junior college and Riverside library school. She has held the position of assistant librarian in Anaheim public library for several years. Royalty graduated from Anaheim union high school and completed his education at the University of Arizona. He is now in the insurance office of Thomas Humphries in Los Angeles. Cleone Patterson’s Marriage Announced Marriage of Miss Cleone Patterson son, daughter of Dr. and Mrs C. O. Patterson of 618 N. Claudin St., to Don Harrison Butka or Pomona was announced this week by the bride's parents. The young people were married at Yuma Ariz., on March 15. Mr. and Mrs. Butka have been attended Pacific Union College in Napa county. The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs Leslie Butka of Pomona. Kelsay Family Home From Eastern Trip Mr. and Mrs. John Kelsey, an children, David and Danny, returned Saturday morning from four weeks’ trip to Washington D.C., where they visited with Mrs.Kelsey’s brother and family Mr. and Mrs.Marshall Beebe.Mr Beebe is connected with the navy department.The Kelseys we caught in a snowstorm in Uta Weekend Spent On Desert Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tausch and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hackley spent the past weekend motoring in the Mojave desert. They stayed Saturday night at Barstow, and then drove into the mining region and over the desert Sunday. Wild flowers in the area were beautiful, they reported. Columbia WAVE is the name of this coiffure created by New York hair stylist Raymond Sellers for pretty Helen Lewis, Columbia network star of the "Kate Hopkins, Angel of Mercy" series. It is adaptable for both daytime and formal wear. Miss Honors at Formal Dancing Party Leaving for Oklahoma Charles McConnell will leave Saturday for Oklahoma where he will pick up his wife, who was called home to care for her mother, Mrs. Frank Miller, sr. Day Spent at Beach Sunday afternoon was spent at the beach by Dick Lindsay, Dorothy Graham, Mel Crain, Ava Nell Hartley, Barbara Elmore, Willard Adams and another couple from the Wesley Methodist church. Kavanaghs Returning Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kavanagh are moving back to Anaheim Sunday. They will reside on South Lemon St. Ministerial Union Meets The ministerial union met at the home of Rev. Thomas Burden last Friday night to plan the coming summer vacation school to be held in the Christian church this year. Mrs. Baker Hostess Mrs. Alice Baker, 900 N. Clementine St., entertained with an informal one o'clock luncheon, Wednesday. Those present were Mrs. Arval Morris, Mrs. Stanley Frederick George, Mrs. Lloyd Ross, Mrs. John Wood, Mrs. Eldon Paddock and hostess. The afternoon was spent visiting and sewing. Winsors Visit Here Mr. and Mrs. Paul Winsor, Lennie Beach are visiting Mrs. Ill With Measles Miss Flaun Manian, Renny Pennington and Bob Marvin are still out of school with the measles. On Business Trip Walter Revell of 506 E. Broadway left for Memphis, Tenn., on business. Harold Hund Injured Harold Hund of Fremont school fell and hurt his leg during the weekend and will be on crutches for a few weeks. Learns of Father's Death J. A. Williams, 303 N. Resh St., received a cable yesterday telling of the death of his father, Caleb Williams, 83, on April 19. Mr. Williams died at his home at Treharris, South Wales, and funeral services were conducted yesterday. Daughter Born A daughter was born at St. Joseph hospital Tuesday to Mr. and Mrs. Richard T. Klaus, RFD 1, box 59-A, Anaheim. Olsons Have Guests Dale Aultz and his mother, Mrs. Celestial Aultz, of Highland Park spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Olson and family at 908 South St. Both families spent Sunday at Long Beach. Mrs. Aultz was the former music teacher of Mrs. Olson 25 years ago in South Dakota. Engagement of Mary Ellen Truxaw Disclosed Saturday Miniature airmail letters sent as place cards for 40 friends from Anaheim, Los Angeles, Palmdena and Hollywood revealed June 21 as the wedding date of Miss Mary Ellen Truxaw, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Truxaw and David Mari of Oakland, Thursday at a luncheon given by bride elect's parents at the Lawood Country club, Long Beach. The luncheon table was beautifully set in the traditional wagon with a long arrangement of two double stocks and gardenias seated by silver candelabras and white tapers. AUXILIARY MEETS AT ORGAN HOUSE The auxiliary of Home Builders class-of-the White Temple Methodist church met at the home of Mrs. Charles Organ, 536 S. West St., Monday for their monthly meeting. After a brief business meeting all present went to the church to help make decorations for the annual banquet to be given tonight at the church. At a late hour all adjourned to the home of Mrs. Organ where refreshments were served to about 30 guests. The former Miss Standfest graduated from school in Detroit, Mich., and after coming to Anaheim she has been employed at the Anaheim Citrus Fruit association. Mr. Smith graduated from high school in Iowa and attended Fullerton junior college. Since school he has worked at the Silzle Corp. The new Mr. and Mrs. Smith will be at home to their friends next week at 217 N.
