Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Lewis C Prominent Couple Married Here April 9, 1887 On April 9, 1887, Arthur L. Lewis and Miss Louise M. Mosseman were married at a quiet ceremony conducted in Anaheim. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary yesterday. Only relatives and a few close friends attended the wedding in 1887 which united a daughter of a pioneer family to a youth whose home had been Anaheim since he was 11 years old. The Anaheim Gazette of April 11, 1912, carried the following news item, reporting on a party given for Mr. and Mrs. Lewis in honor of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary: "Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lewis were given a delightful surprise on Tuesday evening, it being the twenty-fifth anniversary of their wedding, which occurred in this city, April 9, 1887. The guests to the number of 40 met at the home of William McLaughlin and went in a body to the scene of the festivities. "A second marriage ceremony was performed by Mr. McLaughlin. After the ceremony Fayette Lewis read the account of the wedding appearing in the Gazette? 25 years ago. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Mr. Nichols, in the presence of 400 guests. Rev. Thomas L. Burden officiated at the ceremony. The bride was attired in a gown of white mousse-line de soie over taffeta, designed with a tight bodice and bouffant skirt. Her finger tip veil was held with a crown of orange blossoms from her father's grove and a seed pearl halo. Her only other jewelry was a necklace and cross matching the halo.
