Winifred Hapgood Exchanges Wedding Chapel Scene of Ceremony Saturday Evening The Capilla de San Antonio was the scene of the five o'clock wedding Saturday of Miss Winifred Hapgood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Hapgood, 714 N. Philadelphia St., and Jack Douglas Stiefel, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Stiefel, 1053 Pioneer boulevard, Artesia. The bridal party stood in the chapel which was lighted with taper candles among beautiful baskets of white snapdragons, larkspur and calla lillies. Rev Thomas H. Walker, pastor of the San Clemente Presbyterian church, officiated at the single ring ceremony. Mr. Hapgood gave his daughter in marriage. The bride wore a charming wedding ensemble of light beige wool dress and jecket with golden rust accessories. She wore a Bird of Paradise corsage at her shoulder and carried a striking bouquet of Golden Charm roses. To keep the bridal tradition she wore her great-grandmother's betrothal jacket and a handkerchief made by her grandmother, Mrs. Stella B. Hapgood of Anaheim. Mrs. Paul L. Winsor was her sister's matron of honor. She wore a light wool poudre blue redingote with black accessories and carried talisman roses. Sam Stiefel served his brother as best man and Burton Price, Max Failor and Frank Brinton were ushers. The music was provided by Visit Orange Show Rev. and Mrs. Don Earl Boatman, Mrs. Mary Swindler and Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Buckley, all of Anaheim, attended the National Orange Show at San Bernardino, Monday. Daughter Born A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. G. Mercer, 702 S. Lemon, Tuesday at the Fullerton general hospital. Hapgoods Have Guests Mrs. E. P. Hapgood had 85 guests this week her mother, Mrs. Lotie Crandall, her sister, Mrs. Ben Hawley, and her nephew, Frank Brinton, all of Springville, Utah. Lodges Plan Supper A pot-luck supper will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Odd Fellows hall for Odd Fellows, Rebekah's and friends. The lodge will furnish coffee, bread and butter. Those attending are asked to bring dishes to be shared. Dwyers on Tour Frank Sedgley received a card from Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Dwyer reporting that they have gone East and have taken delivery on a new car and are now touring the east coast of Florida. Card Club Meets Lodge to Hold Supper The Lois Rebekah ledge will hold a penney supper Friday night. They will serve from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the public is invited. Starr's Survey Damage Mr. and Mrs. Carleton Starr drove to Newport Beach, Sunday to survey the flood damage to that city. Play Attended Mr. and Mrs. George Alden and Mrs. Alice Purgson, of Shawnee, Okla., who is visiting with her daughter, attended "The Gas Light" at the Hollywood Playhouse Saturday. Viola Hill Circle Meets The Viola Hill Circle of the Calvary Baptist church met today at the home of Mrs. John Anthony, 515 S. Palm St., for a meeting and luncheon. Attend Sciot Dance Mr. and Mrs. Len Daigle and Mr. and Mrs. John Beeson attended the Sciot dance at the Riverside Breakfast club in Los Angeles Saturday. Parents of Son Mr. and Mrs. John F. Herron, 609 S. Lemon St., are the proud parents of a baby girl, born March 12 at the Fullerton general hospital. The little girl was named Mrs. Paul L. Winsor was her sister's matron of honor. She wore a light wool poudre blue redingote with black accessories and carried talisman roses. Sam Stiefel served his brother as best man and Burton Price, Max Failor and Frank Brinton were ushers. The music was provided by Mrs. A. F. Faust. Following the ceremony the parents and the bridal party received congratulations in the garden of the chapel. Returning to the chapel the bride cut and shared the first piece of wedding cake with her new husband. Mrs. R. L. Royalty of Anaheim and Mrs. Herman Loehr of Riverside presided at the bride's table and assisting throughout the affair were Miss Marjorie Niederer, Miss Helen Swenerton, Miss Peggy Akerman and Mrs. William Hutton. The bride is a graduate of Anaheim union high school and Fullerton junior college. She is an alumnae of Theta Nu Theta. She plans to continue her stenographic position with the Realty Tax and Service company in Los Angeles. Mr. Stiefel graduated from Compton high school and Fullerton junior college and will be a member of the June graduating class of the University of Southern California, where he is majoring in business management. The new Mr. and Mrs. Stiefel spent their honey-moon in Laguna Beach and are now at home at 536½ 47th St., Los Angeles. Towsend Card Party To be Held Tonight It was announced today by Mrs. Loretta Ferris, Townsend committee chairman, that the Anaheim Townsend club No. 1 will hold its regular card party at the club room, 224 E. Center St., at 8 p.m. The regular games will be played and there will be prizes and refreshmemnts. A cordial welcome is extended to the public. Mrs. Ted Kirkhart Honored at Shower Mrs. Ted Kirkhart was honored last night with a layette shower given for her by Mrs. Gerald Gover and Miss Elaine Breeden, in Fellows hall for Odd Fellows, Rebekah's and friends. Nichause, who have been the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carroll for the past two months, returned to their home in Oakland Wednesday. View Wild Flowers Mr. and Mrs. William W. Bartlett, Mrs. Lena Bartlett, and Miss Elizabeth Bartlett drove to Bakersfield and Santa Maria to see the wildflowers. Mrs. Helmsen Has Guest Mrs. Allen Stacey has been the house guest of Mrs. Jane D. Helmsen since Tuesday of last week. Friends Visit Here Mr. and Mrs. T. Cross of Puente, and Mr. and Mrs. George Cross of El Monte visited with Mrs. Jane Helmsen Saturday morning. In the afternoon the group went to the funeral of Mrs. Helmsen's cousin, Richard W. Jones of El Modena at the Orange Presbyterian church. Mrs. Leonard Entertains C. A. Steele and daughter, Mrs. George Christensen of Seattle, Wash., were the guests of Mr. Steele's sister, Mrs. E. F. Leonard, 126 S. Kregor St.last week.During their stay the group visited other relatives in Long Beach and San Diego. William Hansen Visiting William Hansen arrived home with his new bride Monday to spend a couple of days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.T.F.Hansen. Attend Birthday Dinner The double birthday dinner for Gicaria Ellingson and Mrs.Sarah Gardener at the Clifton's cafeteria in Los Angeles was attended by Mr. and Mrs.William H.Ball and Jim and Joan. Mrs. Ted Kirkhart Honored at Shower Mrs. Ted Kirkhart was honored last night with a layette shower given for her by Mrs. Gerald Gover and Miss Elaine Breeden, in Mrs. Gover's home at 1256 E. North St. The evening was spent playing games with the prizes going to Mrs. Dickenson and Mrs. C. Kirkhart. Following the entertainment gifts were opened. Earlier in the evening they had been placed in a bassinet. Refreshments were served. The St. Patrick's motif was carried out with tinted green lilies and green sweet peas. Even the two-course supper which was served was Irish green for the occasion. The guests played hearts and bingo after supper and prizewinners were Mrs. Siver Moen, Mrs. Frank Leonard, Mrs. Mary Linger and Mrs. Annie B. Guss. The little girl has been named Mary Louise. She is the first grandchild on both sides of the family. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sheridan of Anaheim and Dr. and Mrs. O. Scott McFarland of Santa Ana. The grandfathers, the father and the baby are doing nicely, as is Mrs. McFarland. "Night School" Held by P.-T. A. Strains of organ music greeted those who attended the "Go to School Night," at the Fremont school. The organ was played by Charlotte Gauer, Glenn Greder, Jeannette Hemerling, Barbara Wood, Marian Merrill, and James Frisl, under the direction of Miss Ethel Campbell. During the business meeting presided over by Mrs. Leo J. Frils, Mrs. R. H. Richard, nominating committee chairman, reported the elections. Those elected were Mrs. George L. Rains, president Mrs. R. C. Hein, vice-president; Mrs. Charles Hunt, secretary; Mrs. Arthur Roquet, treasurer; Mrs. W. E. Melton, parliamentarian; and Mrs. Paul Boliek, auditor. After the business meeting Wilbert Bonney, school principal, and M. A. Gauer, superintendent of elementary schools, welcomed everyone and "Night School," begin. Verla Wimberly Hostess at Dinner Miss Verla Wimberly of 116 S. Kroeger St., entertained Tuesday evening with a St. Patrick's Day dinner. She had the table decorated with green candles and a large center piece of tinted green carnations, and placed about the room were several bouquets of white cala lilies. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gough of Anaheim, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Looney of Orange, and Mrs. Ella Wimberly. Given for Group Sunday Breakfast Mrs. Victor Peltzer and Agnes Callens were co-host at a Sunday morning breakfast at the home of Mrs. Peltzer. Climentine, entertained with a birthday dinner for Mrs. Snyder's father, G. H. Cobb of Pomona, Sunday. Since Mr. Cobb's birthday occurs on March 17, the St. Patrick's day motif was used. Also honored was Mr. Synder's sister, Miss Claris Snyder, who left Monday night for Porterville to open a beauty shop. Those present besides the honored guests and the host and hostess were Mrs. Cobb and a friend from Norwalk. Nominating Board For DAR Chosen Mrs. J. B. Hasty and Mrs. Charles Pearson were hostesses to the DAR at the home of Mrs. Pearson. During the business: meeting the nominating committee was elected and the members are as follows: Mrs. Ruth Jefferson Rust, chairman; Mrs. David Toms, and Mrs. Nellie D. Seitz. There was general rejoicing because of the outcome of their damage suit. Plans were made for the general improvement of the Mother Colony house. The next meeting will be April 4. Refreshments of warm gingerbread with whipped cream and tea and coffee were served.
