Charles Deuels Celebrate Fiftieth Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Charles Deuel held their fiftieth wedding reception at the home of Mr. Deuel's sister, Mrs. A. J. Nenno, at 321 N. Pomona St., Fullerton, Friday afternoon and evening for friends, neighbors, relatives, and members of Calvary Baptist church. Mr. and Mrs. Deuel were married in San Francisco and lived there until 15 years ago when they came here and bought a place on Hansen road. One person was present who was at the wedding 50 years ago. He is Forest Deuel, Mr. Deuel's nephew; it is doubted though whether he remembers much about the ceremony however since he was only seven months old at the time. Mrs. Nenno had the house decorated in gold, many bouquets of flowers were sent as gifts and these were also used as decorations. The tea table was decorated with gold wedding cake and gold flowers, with the silver tea service placed at each end. Tea was served by Mrs. Mabel Lady of Ontario and Mrs. Charles Scatts of Hueneme in the afternoon, and by Mrs. Horace Hempshall of Anaheim and Mrs. Wilton Abplanalt in the evening. During the evening the guests were entertained by a beautiful program. Those taking part in it were Shirley and Doris Essary who played two violin duets, "The Fountain" and "Put on Your Old Gray Bonnet;" Virginia Abplanalt sang, "Indian Love Call," and her second number, which she dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. Deuel, was "The Sweetest Story Ever Told." Mrs. Hempshall sang, "Oh Promise Me," and "I Love You Truly." Son Born to Heins A son was born Thursday to Mr. and Mrs. Harry William Hein of 707 N. East St. at St. Joseph's hospital in Santa Ana. Quartet at Desert Sunday Mr. and Mrs. W. Nash of Anaheim and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nankervis of Garden Grove enjoyed a day of picnicing at the desert Sunday. Board of Directors to Meet The Crippled Children's Relief association of Orange county, board of directors, will hold its regular monthly meeting tomorrow, Friday, at noon at the Kibel cafe in Fullerton. Day in Mountains Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stewart of Torrance and Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Turner of Anaheim drove to Mt. Baldy last Sunday. They spent much of their time taking motion pictures. Visits Palm Springs Miss Betty Brown of the Gazette's classified advertising department, spent last Sunday at Plam Springs. Spend Day on Dessert Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Barthelmes, spent the weekend on a sightseeing trip to the Joshua National Monument and Twenty-Nine Palms. They returned through Luther Valley and Cajon Pass. The children stayed with their grandmother Mrs. J. B. Barthelmes, at Willmar. Club to Meet The Ladies Elks club, will hold its regular meeting tomorrow at Applings Have Guests Mr. and Mrs. Cyron Johansen and daughter, Wanda, of San Jacinto were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Appling of 621 S. Lemon St. William Larsen Home William Larsen has returned to his wife and family at 115 West St. from Portland, Ore., where he has been stationed with the merchant marines. Mr. Larsen, who is an engineer, has made three trips to the Orient since he has been in service. Miss Fassel in Hospital Miss Patricia Fassel at 808 Zeyn St. is recovering from an appendicitomy at the Fullerton general hospital. Harry Affley, Jr., Ill Harry Affley Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Affley, of 201 Helena has been confined with a cold. Mrs. Clark Has Guests Mrs. Lucille Stevens and Mrs. Alice Smith, both of Pasadena, were dinner guests of Mrs. Claudina Clark Monday at one. Mrs. Helmsen Moves Mrs. Jane D. Helmsen, who has been residing for some time past at 239 N. Lemon St., moved Monday to 509 W. Broadway. Son Was Born Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Muckenthaler, 114 S. Illinois St., are the parents of a son, born at St. Joseph hospital Friday, March 7. First Aid Club Meets The First Aid club met at the Anaheim union high school Tuesday. The meeting was conducted Abplanalt in the evening. During the evening the guests were entertained by a beautiful program. Those taking part in it were Shirley and Doris Essary who played two violin duets, "The Fountain" and "Put on Your Old Gray Bonnet;" Virginia Abplanalt sang, "Indian Love Call," and her second number, which she dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. Deuel, was "The Sweetest Story Ever Told." Mrs. Hempshall sang, "Oh Promise Me," and "I Love You Truly;" Miss Muriel Barnes gave a humorous reading, and Rev. Earl R. Berg of the Calvary Baptist Church concluded the program with a few fitting remarks. Mrs. Deuel looked lovely in a simple gold afternoon frock. She also wore a beautiful corsage of talismen roses which was presented to her by the Conquest class of the Calvary Baptist church. She received many beautiful and practical gifts, among which was a fine gold wool blanket. Among the 125 guests were Mr. and Mrs. Deuel's only child, Clyde Deuel, and his wife from Los Angeles and Mr. Deuel's sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Russell of San Francisco. The gold wedding cake was cut after a small ceremony in the evening by Mrs. Deuel. The Deuel's are 72 and 80 respectively. Peter J. Weisels Mark Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Weisel of La Habra Heights celebrated the forty-first anniversary of their marriage on Thursday last, and in honor of the occasion were given a surprise dinner party by their sons and daughters, who gathered at the family home to celebrate the happy event. Sweep peas decorated the dining room and formed the elaborate center-piece on the dinner table. Those present were the honored hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Weisel, jr., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Heartt, Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Newton and Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Weisel. Delta Sigma Phi Plans Future Events At the Monday meeting of the Delta Sigma Phi in the home of Miss Ethel Campbell, a former member of the sorority, plans were discussed for sending a representative to the annual state convention on April 26-27 at Long Beach. Plans were also made to Spend Day on Dessert Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Barthelmes, spent the weekend on a sightseeing trip to the Joshua National Monument and Twenty-Nine Palms. Frank Ey Visits Here Major Frank Ey, well-known former resident of Anaheim, paid a visit to the Gazette's office Monday. He now resides in Los Angeles, and was accompanied here by Mr. and Mrs. Isador Fields, formerly in the jewelry business in Santa Ana, but now residents of Los Angeles. Visit in Covina Mr. and Mrs. Len Daigle and children spent the day Sunday with Mr. Daigle's mother, Mrs. J. B. Daigle of Covina. They were accompanied by Mr. Daigle's father. Visit in Los Angeles Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Fordye spent Sunday afternoon and evening at the home of Arthur Smale in Los Angeles. Group Enjoys Flowers Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kilduff, son Terry, and guests took a trip Sunday over Ortega highway to Elsi-nore and March Field, and dined at Riverside. Mrs. Kilduff states the smoke bush is in bloom and that its beauty made the trip very enjoyable. Ice Skating Party Mrs. A. B. Andrade and children and friends, of 620 S. Emily St., went ice skating Sunday at Hynes. Walkers Visit Here Mrs. Ciaudina Clark and her daughter, Marjorie, had as their weekend guests Mrs. Clark's daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Walker, jr., from Huntington Park. Mrs. Jane D. IOOF Confers Degree The Anaheim IOOF Lodge conferred the third degree upon a member of the Belvedere Gardens lodge Tuesday night. They also made plans for a homecoming the first part of April. Plans were also made to attend the Southern California council breakfast on Sunday morning at the Palos Verdes Country club. It was also decided that the sorority will again sponsor the Benjamin Franklin Girl Scout troop. Miss Campbell provided the entertainment which was followed by an open discussion on classical and semi-classical music. Light refreshments were served. The next meeting will be held on March 24 at the home of Jean McKinnon, 412 N. Claudina St. Annaliese Ahlers Feted on Birthday Annaliese Ahlers of E. South St. was honored on her ninth birthday with a party arranged by her grandmother, Mrs. August Newkirk of Orange, and her mother, Mrs. Otto Ahlers. The party took place in the Ahlers' front yard under the trees where the children played games. Mrs. Ahlers decorated the house with spring blossoms. Refreshments of birthday cake and ice cream were served. Those present were Mary Ann Sievers, Jewel Watenberg, Betty Lou Albin, Doris Knuth, Lillian Lenborg, Bonnie Jean Freese, Dianne Newkirk, Deloris Newkirk, Lavonne Heitsusen, Eileen Steinbrink, Marian Leichtfuss, Celene Ruth Ahlers, Herman Ahlers and the honored guest. Howard Harvey Sunday at three o'clock brought the wedding of Miss Marion Wisser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lucien Wisser of 126 N. Helena St., and C. Howard Harvey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Harvey of Wilmington at the Capilla de San Antonio wedding chapel. Rev. Stanley Frederick George of the First Presbyterian church officiated during the single ring ceremony. The bride wore a powder blue redingote dress with saddle tan accessories. She carried a white satin Bible with a corsage of gardenias and a shower of orange blossoms and white sweetpeas. The maid of honor, Miss Margaret Hein, wore a rose toned suit with navy blue accessories. She wore a cluster of camelias at her shoulder. Garth Bosley was best man and the ushers were the bride's brother, Edwin Wisser, and Tom Hoag. The mothers were dressed in navy blue sheers and wore gardenia corsages. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Harvey were congratulated in the garden of the Capilla de San Antonio by nearly 80 guests. Later in the afternoon a reception was held for relatives and the wedding party at the home of the bride. At the reception a beautiful three tiered wedding cake was cut by the bride. She cut the first piece of cake in two and shared it with her husband as her first act of sharing. The bride's grandmother, Mrs. John B. Nichols, of Los Angeles poured coffee and her aunt, Mrs. E. W.
