Letters to Santa Claus Written By Many Merchants of Anaheim (Continued from Page 1) Backs of the Savings, Loan and Building association, and L. N. Wisser of Wisser's Sports store both asked early last week for a rainstorm. Santa Claus produced quickly and both are happy now. Quite a group of merchants were easily pleased, answering "any old thing" when Santa Claus asked what they wanted. Those who will probably get "any old thing" are Robert H. Boney, Dodge and Plymouth dealer; Mrs. M. P. Thaxton, "Prothro Beauty Quest"; Judy Lillibridge, Miss Hughes and Mrs. Heard, all of Van de Kamp's bakery; Mrs. "Stylerite shop"; S. T. Hammond, upholsterer; and H. Ames, of the Greater Anaheim Market. Peace, health and happiness was the thought in back of the minds of other. John Manthopoulos of the Oyster Loaf cafe wants "no trouble with anyone." T. W. (Penney) Stuard desires "that all the girls and boys be made happy." "Peace and happiness" is the desire of Dr. J. P. Brastad and C. R. Fisher of the Fisher's Dollar store echoes the sentiment with a wish for 365 days of good health. Mrs. M. Trockstad of Crescent Style Shoppe will be happy if she can think about other peoples' welfare, O. H. Renner of the S. Q. R. Store wants continued happiness, and Dr. C. O. Patterson desires good health for his entire family. "Some swell weather for Connie Mack and his Athletics," is all John A. Morgan, chamber of commerce secretary, wants. A. N. English, the barber, may or may not have been thinking of the weather when he said he wanted "a hot one." A new suit of clothes (not made of cellophane) will be "so long" will make Mrs. George Viebeck happy. "A left-handed wrist watch" is the lone desire of Jeanette Liekhus of the Anaheim Building & Lean association. Mrs. Clarice Lake of Clarice Sports wear wants a "fence with the world around it," and her husband, P. D. Lake, of Lake's Men's wear, desires only a box of "stogies." E. J. Wiseman, the jeweler, wants a battleship for a fishing trip. On alarm clock for Hugh Gallapher of the California cafe; sex for W. H. Locke, shoe store owner; more room for the big display at McCoy's Drug Store, and some turtles "like my uncle's" for "Joe" of Joe's shoe repair shop are other items of Santa Claus' list. Claude E. Lane wants more houses for his "Dutch Boy" to paint, F. A. Yungbluth hasn't any particular desire for Christmas, except to keep on doing his part for the city, and E. C. Kendrick, the jeweler, wants more young couples to buy engagement and wedding rings. Al Brunet of Al's cafe is going back to his childhood, perhaps, because he wants a hobby horse. H. E. Arnold of Orange County drug store thinks the best present he could receive would be a hobby. Victor G. Loly's jewelry store keeps him so busy he would like to have a week's vacation, but his employ, J. Affley wants one of two weeks. A full house will satisfy R. A. (Pat) Patterson of the Valencia hotel. Carl F. Oelke of the Marigold cafe speaks for most people, however, when he says, "The greatest desire of my heart is that the world might know Christ and the peace that only He can give." Some swell weather for Connie Mack and his Athletics," is all John A. Morgan, chamber of commerce secretary, wants. A. N. English, the barber, may or may not have been thinking of the weather when he said he wanted "a hot one." A new suit of clothes (not made of cellophane) will be alright with Julius H. Crane, the jeweler. Ben TerBest, an orange grower, wants a pair of Sunday shoes and lots of sox. Just a box of candy will make Ree Kay of Lauretta's happy, and Mrs. Wulff, owner of the shop, will be pleased if her employes get what they want. "Aggie" Wagner of the Do-Nut shop wants a mixmaster while A. M. Henry, the druggist, wants a telescope and rifle and something to keep his little son, Wilmer, out of trouble. Paul Davidson of Superior Radio shop wants everyone to enjoy the Christmas music being broadcast from his store. Carl Hauser, Alpha Beta manager, isn't satisfied with his year-old car and wants a new one. "Spinach and carrots" is the unusual desire of C. A. Owings of Owing's men's store (Editor's note—He can have them.) A rag rug Thief Gets $35 at Tommy's Barbecue Anaheim police was investigating the burglary of Tommy's Barbecue cafe at Los Angeles and Palm streets Thursday night in which approximately $35 was stolen from a hidden container. Entry was gained to the building through a rear door, believed by police to have been opened with a pass key. ATTEND MEETING City Engineer E. P. Hapgood, G. Millard Parks and Ewald M. Lemcke were Anaheim members of the Orange County Engineers club who attended the regular meeting of that group last Friday evening in Fullerton.
