Mrs. Ella Coons and William G. Launder were complimented Saturday evening by officers and members of Chispa chapter, O.E.S., at the Marigold cafe.
Pupils Entertain Magnolia P.-T. A.
Magnolia P.-T. A. met Thursday afternoon for its regular meeting at the school.
John Bruce led the flag saxophone which opened the program. During the business session led by Mr. Robert Welch, president, reports were given by chairmen in charge of holiday giving to the needy.
Bob Bensen, master of cell monies, introduced the Magnolia glee club which sang "Chopinos," with a duet by Mary Jane Dorothy Bevers, and "Metropolis Nights," with Ted Morgan the solo part. Floyd Wallace said "Wagon Wheels." Cynthia Dudley entertained with a tap dance.
An interesting play was presented by the children from the local grades entitled "Tots' Alphabet." Mrs. Dennie program chairperson introduced Dr. Niels Boege for the board of health who showed motion pictures on dental care followed b y round table discussion on the subject.
At the close of the meeting guests adjourned to the dining room where refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. W. Dudley and Mrs. J. J. Bevett.

Miss Rosalie Hein was guest honor at a recent pre-nuptial shower given by Mrs. E. L. H. Mrs. Albert Blower and Mrs. Hein at Mrs. E. L. Hein's home Brookhurst road Friday even.
Japanese dahlias and lilies in the valley provided the decor motif, carried out in the appointments and nut-cups. "Doco" was played during the event with prizes going to Mrs. F. Hein and Mrs. Thomas Bunnett.
Complimenting the bride-were Mrs. Arthur Welty.

Col. Horton Speaks To Club's Members
Col. Ralph D. Horton was guest speaker Tuesday night when the Anaheim Townsend club entertained 200 guests at their headquarters on East Center street.

Salvage Dept. or R. F. D. No. 2, Anaheim, California, has withdrawn from said business and has assigned all of his interests in said business to Jack C. Dutton, Dorothy G. Dutton and Claude S. Taylor, who will continue to operate said business under the same name, and they have assumed and will pay all outstanding obligations of said business, and all accounts due said business belong to them and are to be paid to them, and Frank C. Taylor is released and discharged from all liability on past obligations of said business and he will not be liable for any future liabilities incurred by said business and from this date forward, he will be in no way connected with said business.

Mrs. Coons is the retiring matron and Mr. Launder the retiring patron. Both were presented with gifts in appreciation of their work. Mrs. J. W. Harpster was hostess for the evening, with Mrs. Margaret Hedges and Mrs. Vera Baum assisting.
Tables were set up for an evening of court whistle,and prizes went to Mrs. Anna L. Pembler and Dr. Arthur Coons. Special guests were the Rev. and Mrs. G. Carroll Rector, Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Coons of Claremont, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Greeg and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Seward.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Sunday with a turkey dinner highlighting the evening's celebration held at their home on Euclid avenue.
White roses and pink tabers centered the table at which the guests were assembled.Miss Margaret Hein sang appropriate selections accompanied by Miss Ruth Zimmerman at the piano.Mrs. Peter cut the wedding cake of white,silver and pink.

Rites Are Held for Mrs. Mary Rommel
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary J. Rommel, 75, who died last Friday morning, were conducted Monday afternoon from the Hilgenfeld funeral home, followed by entombment in Melrose Abbey Mausoleum. Mrs. Rommel's home was at 203 East South street.
Mrs. Rommel had resided in Anaheim about 10 years, coming here from Chicago. She was a native of Germany. Her survivors include her husband, Albert C. A. Rommel; three sons, Albert C. of Chicago, William M. of Stockston, and Walter M. of Anaheim; two grandchildren, and one brother, Max Bahrens of Chicago.

At a recent pre-nuptial event given by Mrs. E. L. Hein, Albert Blower, and Mrs. Ben at Mrs. E. L. Hein's home on Kirkurst road Friday evening, Japanese dahlias and lilies of Valley provided the decoration carried out in the table plantments and nut-cups. "Bunwas played during the evening, prizes going to Mrs. R. C. and Mrs. Thomas Bunnell. Complimenting the bride-elect Mrs. Arthur Welty, Mrs. H. Gust, Mrs. Thomas Shell, Mrs. E. O. Baumann, Mrs. Hein, Mrs. Joe Weaver, Mrs. Stolt, Mrs. Clarence Wagner, Margaret Hein, Miss Imogene Miss Violet Gust, Patsy Payne and Lucille Work of Orange, Darby of Garden Grove, Mrs. Hein and the three hosts.

He uses the abbreviated name as the writing signature for John Franklin Carter—his full name—for his daily Washington column, and for his broadcasts. He adopted his name for his writings in 1931, when he was employed by the state department under the Hoover administration.
